The introduction seemed to hang in the air, leaving Owen speechless. He remembered the name. The Lockwood family was quite famous in his city.

Is she really that Lockwood? he wondered.

Helena withdrew her hand and then took something from her bag.

“This is my business card, and I’d like to give you a gift.”

Owen took the business card in confusion. He looked at the details printed on it: Helena Lockwood, along with the name of her company, Saint Muse.

Owen’s eyes widened as he looked at Helena.

He was certain now that Helena truly came from the Lockwood family.

“You really don’t need to give me a gift, Miss.” Owen remained polite.

Helena shook her head. “No. I’m still going to give you a gift. Come to my company. I need to prepare the gift for you first.”

Owen had no intention of refusing Helena again, but he was curious about why she was being so insistent.

“I only returned your bag, Miss.”

Helena finally let out a sigh. She was a polite and well-mannered woman despite being extremely wealthy.

“Sir, there was a necklace from my late mother inside my bag. I had just picked it up today after having some of its details repaired.” She finally explained why she was acting this way.

“I understand, Miss.” Owen spoke politely. He appreciated Helena’s kind intentions.

Just as he was about to say something else, a screen suddenly flashed before him.

[You have received a reward of $10,000,000.]

Owen’s mouth nearly fell open when he saw the reward notification.

He had thought that the increase in his power would be the only reward he received. Now, his heart was pounding rapidly as his financial situation changed at an astonishing speed.

His phone vibrated, and Owen knew it had to be a notification confirming that the money had just been deposited into his account.

“Sir, are you all right?” Helena held Owen’s hand and gently shook it when she noticed how pale he looked.

He snapped back to reality and quickly composed himself.

“I’m fine, Miss.” His voice was calm and steady.

However, Helena, who was accustomed to observing people closely, still felt that Owen was hiding something, even though she simply nodded.

Owen had already spent quite some time there. He was just about to leave when someone he knew suddenly appeared.

“Owen! What a coincidence running into you here.” The younger man appeared, raising his hand in greeting.

“Ah, I was planning to meet some friends, but I just ran out of money. Give me a thousand dollars, Owen!” The man casually held out his hand, a wide and annoying grin spreading across his face.

He had always acted like this. Owen would never forget the way he treated him, constantly treating Owen like his personal emergency fund.

He was Sarah’s younger brother, Wales.

Owen brushed his hand away, causing Wales’s eyes to narrow immediately.

“If you want money, then go get a job.”

Hearing Owen’s response, Wales’s jaw tightened. He became more aggressive and glanced at Helena.

“Are you cheating on Sarah now?” he scoffed. “I’ll tell Sarah what you’ve been doing, and she’ll dump you.” Wales pointed at Owen as he spoke.

“I won’t tell her if you give me the money. Hurry up and hand it over.”

Wales’s strength had always been his ability to threaten people easily and treat them like they were beneath him, as if they were his subordinates. That tactic had worked on Owen in the past.

But not anymore.

Confusion filled Wales’s expression as he stared at the man in front of him.

Why isn’t he reacting at all? Is he really cheating on Sarah and doesn’t want her anymore? he wondered anxiously.

“No. That can’t be right. He really loves Sarah.”

Wales clenched his fists tightly.

“This man would even jump into a river just to find Sarah’s necklace when she dropped it.” He thought back to something that had happened in the past. “He’s just pretending to stay calm.”

Wales sneered. “Do you think I’m bluffing? I really will tell Sarah about this.” He pointed at Owen and stepped closer.

Owen waved his hand in front of his nose. “Your breath really stinks.”

Owen’s remark immediately made the man’s face turn red, while Helena, standing beside him, tried to hold back her laughter. The situation was actually quite amusing to her.

“Shut up!” Wales shouted. “I’m really calling Sarah right now!”

This time, Owen laughed. He looked down at the man standing before him.

If only he had realized how parasitic they were from the beginning, perhaps he could have lived a much better life.

He clicked his tongue.

“You don’t know that she and I already broke up? I don’t want anything to do with a woman like her.”

“What?” Wales shouted in shock.

“That’s why I’m not giving you anything. Now get out of here.” Owen casually waved his hand, dismissing him.

Wales clenched both hands tightly. Being humiliated like this only fueled his anger, especially now that he wasn’t getting what he wanted.

“You bastard! Who do you think you are to think you can find someone better than Sarah?” he shouted.

Owen remained calm as he stood before him. His shouting almost sounded amusing this time. Owen had already figured out their pattern. They always tried to make him feel as though he was the one in the wrong. But now that he no longer cared about them, none of it mattered to him.

“No beautiful woman like Sarah would ever want a poor man like you! There are plenty of men who want her!”

He sneered. “Just look at you, you pathetic, shameless loser!”

Helena suddenly burst into laughter. She looked at Wales coldly before doing something Owen never expected.

She wrapped her arms around Owen’s arm.

“Why wouldn’t anyone want him? He’s handsome and brave.” Helena pressed herself closer to Owen. “I like him.”

Wales’s mouth fell open, his gaze becoming even more intense as he stared at the woman clinging to Owen’s arm. She was beautiful, dressed in expensive clothes and accessories, and the sight left his throat feeling incredibly dry.

This was supposed to be a peaceful lunch. But the moment the man appeared, Helena’s expression immediately changed.Based on her past experiences, dealing with Harris was never pleasant. He came from one of the wealthy families and had a habit of looking down on women.“If you wanted to eat here, you should’ve told me. I could have arranged everything to make it more romantic.” Harris pulled out a chair and sat down, blocking Owen’s view of Helena. But things didn’t go the way he expected when someone suddenly pulled his chair backward.“It’s extremely rude to interrupt someone else’s lunch,” Owen said. Now he found himself staring directly at Harris. All his life, Harris had always tried to assert his authority and make others listen to him. Sarah had been standing in front of Owen’s house for twenty minutes. She had dressed herself up beautifully, hoping Owen would be impressed the moment he saw her.“Why is it taking him so long to open the door?” She nervously bit her fingernail.Ever since Owen had broken up with her and kicked her out, she had felt strange. Sarah couldn’t accept what had happened because she had lost her personal ATM. It was strange how their entire plan had suddenly fallen apart.Sarah looked toward the door again.“Is he not home?” she muttered with a groan.“No. No. There’s no way he’s with Helena Lockwood!” Sarah stomped her foot as she remembered what her brother had told her. After breaking up with him, there was no way Owen could possibly be with a woman from such an influential family.“He loves me so much. He’d do anything for me. I know what he’s doing now is just to make me jealous,” she muttered. At that exact moment, the door finally opened. Owen immediately saw her, and his expression t

He had driven them out, but Owen knew very well that he wouldn’t be able to get rid of them that easily. Looking around his house, he realized there were still plenty of ways for them to cause trouble. The house might not have been particularly luxurious, but it was the only thing his parents had left behind, so Owen had decided to protect it.That afternoon, he put on his hoodie and quickly left the house, getting into the ride-hailing car he had booked.“We’ve arrived at Grand Sky Mall, sir,” the driver said several minutes later.Owen looked outside. The car had stopped, and he had arrived at the mall. After making the payment online, Owen immediately got out. He quickened his pace toward a place called Sentinel Security Center (SSC).A young man at the front desk looked at him.“How may I help you, sir?”Owen immediately explained what he wanted.“I want the best surveillance cameras you have, along with the most advanced security system.”The young man wrote down Owen’s request b
