Chapter 8

Sarah had been standing in front of Owen’s house for twenty minutes. She had dressed herself up beautifully, hoping Owen would be impressed the moment he saw her.

“Why is it taking him so long to open the door?” She nervously bit her fingernail.

Ever since Owen had broken up with her and kicked her out, she had felt strange. Sarah couldn’t accept what had happened because she had lost her personal ATM. It was strange how their entire plan had suddenly fallen apart.

Sarah looked toward the door again.

“Is he not home?” she muttered with a groan.

“No. No. There’s no way he’s with Helena Lockwood!” Sarah stomped her foot as she remembered what her brother had told her.

After breaking up with him, there was no way Owen could possibly be with a woman from such an influential family.

“He loves me so much. He’d do anything for me. I know what he’s doing now is just to make me jealous,” she muttered.

At that exact moment, the door finally opened. Owen immediately saw her, and his expression turned cold.

Sarah stepped forward, almost reaching for Owen’s arm, but he moved away from her.

“I already told you never to come here again.”

“Come on, Owen. I know you’re just upset with me.” She smiled. “If you apologize, I won’t be angry with you, and we can get back together.”

Sarah stared at Owen while playing with her hair. With complete confidence, she extended her hand, certain that Owen would take it.

“We’re already broken up, and I have absolutely no desire to be with you.” Owen’s sneer immediately froze Sarah in place.

A second later, anger overwhelmed her, and she raised her hand to slap Owen. But Owen’s hand moved faster. He caught her wrist and shoved her away.

He no longer had any feelings for her whatsoever.

“You heard it from your brother, didn’t you? I have a new girlfriend, and she’s far better than you.”

Sarah’s eyes widened, her jaw tightening. She pointed at Owen.

“That’s impossible. Wales may be easy to fool, but I’m not!”

Owen was about to respond, but at that exact moment, his phone rang.

He smirked and held up the screen for Sarah to see.

“Look. My girlfriend is calling me.” Owen scoffed softly.

Helena’s name was displayed on the screen.

Sarah immediately tried to snatch Owen’s phone, but Owen raised it above her reach and switched on the speaker.

“Owen, are you coming here?” Helena asked.

Owen smiled mockingly at Sarah. He deliberately lowered the volume again before answering.

“I’ll be there soon.”

The call ended shortly afterward. It made Sarah’s face turn bright red, and she immediately screamed.

“Give me your phone, Owen! I’m seriously going to get angry with you!”

Owen looked down at her with disdain, deliberately making her blood boil even more.

“I don’t want you anymore. You’re nothing but an ungrateful woman,” he replied.

Owen put his phone away and immediately got into his car. The woman who had been glaring at him continued shouting his name, but Owen didn’t care. He simply drove away, leaving her behind.

Owen had just arrived at Noraha Company. As Helena had told him, he needed to come here today because there was something she wanted to give him.

He soon arrived at Helena’s office, where she welcomed him warmly.

“It’s nice to see you, Owen.” She shook Owen’s hand.

“Yeah, it’s nice to see you too,” Owen replied.

Seeing the woman in her office made the atmosphere feel more serious.

“I want to give you this.” Helena then picked something up from her desk and handed it to Owen.

Owen looked at the item Helena had given him.

“A ring?” he asked.

“Yes. It’s a club membership ring for an exclusive club owned by the Lockwood family. I thought it would suit you because getting access to that place is extremely difficult.” Helena proudly showed it off before giving him a playful wink.

Owen immediately put the ring on.

“Thank you for the gift, Helena.”

Helena was clearly pleased that Owen had accepted her gift. She felt that he deserved it for helping her retrieve her mother’s necklace.

She looked at Owen shyly. Not only was he kind, but Owen was also quite handsome. She suddenly felt a little awkward around him.

“Well, then, I’ll head home.” Owen was about to stand up.

Helena was startled by his statement.

“Wait.”

Owen looked at Helena, studying her for a moment.

“Is there something else? I came here to receive the gift you wanted to give me, and I’ve already received it.”

Helena’s eyes widened in surprise. Owen didn’t seem like any man she had ever met. Even after learning about Helena’s status, Owen hadn’t flirted with her or tried to prolong their time together.

That was what made Helena feel that Owen was different, and it made her curious about him.

Wanting to keep him around a little longer, she finally spoke.

“It’s already lunchtime. How about we have lunch together?”

Owen was quite surprised by Helena’s suggestion and didn’t respond immediately.

“Do you have anything else to do afterward?” she asked softly.

She secretly clasped her hands together, waiting anxiously for Owen’s answer.

“All right. I don’t have anything planned today. Lunch sounds good.” Owen smiled.

Helena smiled as well. She almost let her excitement show too much, but eventually managed to compose herself. She stood up and walked out together with Owen.

“I know a great restaurant. I guarantee you’ll like it.”

Owen nodded. He readily agreed to the restaurant Helena had chosen. Twenty minutes later, they arrived at a luxurious restaurant.

Owen remembered something. This was the restaurant Sarah had once wanted to visit, but the prices had been far too expensive for her.

Owen secretly smirked. As far as he was concerned, that woman would never be able to set foot in a place like this.

Just then, they had barely taken their seats when someone who had been watching them approached their table.

“Yo, Helena. Long time no see.”
