“What? An Abomination?”

Darla had just taken the last Attribute Stone from a zombie’s corpse when she turned her gaze toward the distance.

Staring at the gigantic monster, the woman’s eyes widened with excitement.

“Unbelievable! There are a thousand Attribute Stones inside its body!”

Ordinary zombies contained anywhere from ten to a hundred Attribute Stones. Abominations, however, were not only enormous in size but also contained a correspondingly large number of Stones.

That morning, while exchanging her shelter for Energy Stones, she had suddenly heard the system’s voice in her head.

“Host has activated a Legendary Talent. You can now see how many Stones are stored inside a monster’s body.”

With this ability, whenever she looked at a monster, its body seemed to emit a faint glow that only she could see. This allowed her to determine their locations, even in complete darkness.

“Great! I can’t afford to waste this opportunity!”

Amid the darkness of the vast, barren plain, Darla moved nimbly, observing the three giants that had just approached while keeping herself hidden among the zombie corpses.

Roar!

One of the Abominations collapsed, and laser cannon fire continued to rain down on it until it finally stopped moving.

“Let’s wait until the other two fall as well.”

Thanks to her Legendary Talent, she could not only see the number of Stones inside these gigantic monsters but also estimate how powerful they were.

“Although they seem slow at first, they can suddenly move incredibly fast when they feel threatened.”

Thud!

Thud!

Several minutes later, the other two Abominations also collapsed to the ground.

“Okay! Time to move!”

However, as she approached the corpses, she spotted ten Abominations advancing toward her from the distance.

“Damn it! Why do they just keep coming?”

Back in the old world, there would usually be only one or two Abominations in a group of zombies.

What she was witnessing now was far beyond anything she had expected.

“I don’t have much time! I have to collect everything quickly!”

She swiftly stuffed hundreds of Attribute Stones into the magical bracelet on her wrist, her movements fast and nimble.

“With this many, I should have enough to pull it off! This time, I’ll definitely succeed!”

A sly glint appeared in her eyes as a broad smile spread across her lips.

Roar!

However, a sudden roar jolted her out of her thoughts.

“What?!”

She spun around, only to find an Abomination standing barely a meter behind her.

She had been so engrossed in collecting the Stones that she hadn’t realized how much time had passed, more than enough for an Abomination to approach her unnoticed.

Now within the monster’s reach, she knew that if it swung one of its long arms, the blow would land squarely on her head.

Whoosh!

Sure enough, the monster showed no hesitation. It swung both arms at her simultaneously.

Darla instinctively threw herself to the side, then quickly retreated backward to reach for her sword.

Crack!

But just as her hand touched the hilt of the two-meter-long sword, she heard the sound of footsteps crushing twigs behind her.

This time, Darla had no chance to turn around before a powerful gust of wind struck her from the side.

Bang!

The Abomination’s hand slammed into her head, sending her flying two meters to the side. The sword in her hand was also knocked away, landing on the ground.

“Damn it!”

She immediately struggled to her feet, feeling slightly dizzy. Fortunately, she was still wearing her helmet. Otherwise, she could only imagine what might have happened to her.

“Why didn’t I hear them coming?”

Previously, Abominations had always made a great deal of noise, making it easy to detect their approach. That was why Darla had dared to risk looting the corpses despite the considerable danger.

This time, however, their approach had been almost completely silent.

“And how could they possibly move so fast?”

She raised her head and saw two Abominations standing right in front of her, ready to attack.

Roar!

Glancing to the side and then ahead, she knew she had to move quickly and retrieve her sword before the two monsters attacked.

Roar!

But before she could do anything, a third roar made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.

“What? There are more behind me, too?”

Bang!

Sure enough, before Darla could react, another devastating blow struck the back of her head from behind.

For the second time, her body was sent flying to the side.

She blinked several times. This time, the dizziness was overwhelming, and her entire body felt as though it had been shattered.

Her helmet had been knocked off and sent tumbling to the ground. She wasn’t even sure whether she still had the strength to stand up.

“I have to get out of here.”

Her voice was weak. If she didn’t move now, they would surely tear her apart.

Roar!

An Abomination leaped directly in front of her, blocking her escape route.

Darla was now surrounded by the gigantic monsters.

“I…”

Fear began creeping into her body, weighing down her limbs and making it even harder for her to move.

Just then, she saw something.

Stab!

Stab!

Stab!

“Hey, you ugly freaks! Come here! Catch me if you can!”

“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni

“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h

  • Chapter 27 - Reaping the Rewards

“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al

“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill

Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid

“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
