A few minutes earlier.
“I can’t go out there unprepared like this! I need to come up with a plan!”
Unable to see in the darkness and with no weapon other than the bow in his hands, heading out there without a plan would be nothing short of a suicide mission for Adrian.
“Wait! Doesn’t that palm tree have a special effect?”
As he looked toward one corner of the yard, a wide grin spread across his lips as an idea suddenly came to mind.
“That’s right! I can use it to trap them!”
[Proceed with purchase.]
Adrian purchased a flashlight helmet to help him see in the darkness.
He then prepared several palm trees to carry out his plan.
As a final step, he swiped across his screen and deactivated the automatic firing mode. Instantly, the turrets above stopped shooting at the monsters.
“I hope I’m not too late!”
Running into the wilderness, he found Darla crouching on the ground, surrounded by several Abominations.
“Come and catch me if you can!”
Stab!
Stab!
Stab!
Aiming his arrows at the Abominations’ eyes, he wanted to draw all their attention toward himself.
“You ugly freaks!” he scoffed. “Come on! All of you, come after me!”
He had noticed that the Abominations before him were different from the ones he had encountered in the old world. Despite their sluggish appearance, they could suddenly move at incredible speeds.
Roar!
Adrian’s plan worked.
The horde of Abominations began turning their attention toward him.
“Good! Come on, hurry up! Don’t waste my time!”
As he spoke, Adrian purchased tenfold arrow duplication, allowing him to fire multiple arrows at once.
He had only one goal: to make himself look like a genuine threat to the monsters.
“They move faster when I attack them more aggressively, don’t they?”
Adrian had come to this realization after watching the gigantic monsters gravitate toward the turrets that kept firing at them.
When the turrets stopped shooting, the monsters seemed confused and immediately began searching for other targets.
Sure enough, the monsters suddenly charged toward him at high speed. Strangely enough, despite their enormous size, their footsteps were almost inaudible.
Rather than leading the monsters toward his shelter, Adrian deliberately lured them toward another corner of the wilderness beside it.
Roar!
Roar!
Roar!
The ten Abominations were now only ten meters away from Adrian. In less than a minute, they would be standing no more than a meter from him.
“Good! Now it’s time!”
He pressed a button on the holographic screen before him. Golden beams emerged from the ground at four different corners, encircling both him and the Abominations.
Next, enormous palm trees rose from the ground at all four corners.
Adrian then planted a twig coated in zombie blood right in the center of the four palm trees to draw the monsters’ attention.
Once the Abominations moved toward the twig, Adrian quickly slipped out of the enclosure.
“This should be enough to hold them, right?”
At Silver tier, these magical palm trees were twice as tall as the ones in his greenhouse yard. Not only did they disrupt the zombies’ tracking systems, but they could also weaken them by inducing hallucinations.
Sure enough, once all four trees were in place, the Abominations simply wandered around aimlessly, moving back and forth as though they had neither purpose nor awareness.
“I don’t know how long this will be able to hold them. What matters is that I’ve managed to subdue them all.”
The sun began to rise in the east, its rays illuminating the wilderness.
Looking around in every direction, Adrian let out a sigh of relief. No more monsters were coming.
At least he could relax for the time being.
Even so, Adrian would never truly feel at ease until these gigantic monsters had been eliminated. But for now, there was something else he needed to do.
“Darla, are you okay?”
He quickly approached the young woman and extended his hand toward her.
“Come on, let’s go. They’ve been taken care of.”
“Go away!”
Still lying helplessly on the ground, Darla turned her face away from him.
“You’re still joking around at a time like this? I know you’re injured. Let me check on you.”
“I told you to leave! So just go!”
She shouted even louder, but her voice did not sound angry or aggressive. Instead, it carried a note of utter despair.
Darla, what exactly happened? Adrian wondered.
It was then that he realized something.
Could this woman be unable to move her body but too proud to admit it? Fine. Let me do something for her.
Without saying another word, Adrian crouched down and turned Darla’s body over.
The moment her face turned toward him, Adrian’s eyes widened.
“You…”

Chapter 29 - The Attack Plan Begins
“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni

“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h
Chapter 27 - Reaping the Rewards
“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al
Chapter 26 - Time for a Counterattack
“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill
Chapter 25 - The Attack He Had Been Waiting For
Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid
Chapter 24 - The First Evernight
“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
