Rhys entered the vice principal's room. Even he didn't expect to meet such a high-ranking person in this academy.
But more importantly, he was able to witness the person who took care of the academy, and she didn't disappoint.
The vice principal had a rather slender figure that was barely visible from the contour of the robe. Her eyes were filled with wisdom, giving a different type of charm. She gave a weird pressure that made Rhys feel a bit nervous.
Meanwhile, the vice principal took a glimpse of the animal that Jason was talking about, which made her even more curious.
"So you are student Rhys, the one who is said to summon an animal instead of a humanoid creature…" The vice principal squinted her eyes, giving a sense of oppression.
Rhys took a deep breath as if he were trying to calm his heart down. "Yes."
The vice principal showed his paper. "The reason I call you is regarding your answers. It seems that you have a rather unique perspective."
Rhys couldn't deny it since he came not from this world. Besides, his knowledge was limited as well. He had prepared a reply for this remark. "I didn't know much, so I just wrote things I could think of from all the knowledge I currently had. I was just desperate."
"Desperate, huh? Could I ask you some questions to verify this was your thought? I couldn't help but doubt because it felt like your answers came from someone who studied this field for more than twenty years."
"I understand." Rhys still showed a sign of nervousness. On the one hand, there wasn't any confirmation yet that he had been accepted. On the other hand, he had to act nervous since that was how a farmer would act if he met a high-ranking person.
"How about this first question? It doesn't seem that you don't have any basic knowledge about Mana." The vice principal came to him. "To have more than one summoned creature, you need to have more Mana."
The vice principal came with a candle and a knife. "This knife represents the amount of Mana that you have in your body. If you summon a creature, it's the same as sacrificing that amount of Mana forever so that the summoned creature can stay in this world for as long as you are alive."
The vice principal chopped off half of the candle in one go. "That's why the first summoned creature will be the most important because it can determine the amount of Mana in your body.
"I'm not saying that it's the end for you if you don't have a powerful summoned creature, but to increase Mana, you need resources. Without any background, you can only rely on yourself to get that resource.
"With a weak summoned creature, going for that resource is basically suicide.
"Anyway, the stronger the summoned creatures you summon, the more Mana you sacrifice. In other words, you need to increase your Mana a lot before summoning your second creature so that the one getting summoned will be stronger.
"The first question is asking about your thoughts about how much Mana you need to sacrifice. The other students in your class are giving estimates from 0.5 times of your original Mana to 100 times. However, your answer is making a generalization of the summoned creatures. Why do you think so?"
"!!!" Johan was quite surprised by the answer. If he were the student, he would give the same answer as other students.
Meanwhile, Rhys actually said, "I think that your explanation has just confirmed my answer."
"Hoh? Elaborate."
"If we need more Mana to summon a more powerful creature, it means that a certain creature requires a certain amount of Mana. If we can generalize the amount of Mana required to summon a certain creature, won't it give a higher chance for the summoner to call that creature?
"If that's the case, measuring Mana accurately will be very important, especially if it's in number. For example, if we buy a wooden spoon for one copper coin, we can buy silverware for one silver coin. The measurement of money is accurate, which reflects in quality," explained Rhys.
Meanwhile, his heart was beating rapidly as he was screaming inwardly, 'Hell yeah, I'm going to say every bit of rubbish I have in mind.'
However, it was actually pretty effective, judging from the vice principal's expression. Jason was behind him, so he couldn't see his stunned face.
"An accurate measurement device…" The vice principal looked down for a moment before she laughed. "Hahahaha!"
Rhys was confused about her reaction. Jason couldn't help but whisper, "The vice principal sets four questions based on her research. The first question is among them."
"Ah." Rhys understood why she laughed.
'This woman actually believed all the gibberishes he came up with?' Gaelion was dumbfounded as he remembered Rhys saying, 'We fake it until we make it.' He never thought it would be the case.
The vice principal decided to change her approach. She turned to Jason and said, "I'm done confirming it. Post the result."
"What about him?" Jason asked.
"He will enroll in this academy."
Jason nodded. Even he thought that if the other answers were similar to what he heard, it wouldn't be wrong for him to join. If he somehow didn't become a good summoner, his way of thinking might result in one or two major breakthroughs in this field. "I'll take care of it immediately."
"T-Thank you very much." Rhys hurriedly thanked her since this meant he could stay in a safe place for a while.
However, the vice principal had another surprise for him.
As soon as Jason exited the room, the vice principal walked to Rhys. "I'm the vice principal of this academy, Wyndia Lorelei."
"I am Rhys."
She just smiled. While extending her hand, she asked, "Rhys. Do you want to be a student of mine?"
"Student?" Rhys looked shocked, wondering if this was a dream or not.
Even Gaelion couldn't contain his bewilderment. 'Did this guy just get her to protect him just from writing some bullshit?’

Chapter 112
“So this man is the Dragon King.” Rhys kept that thought in his head while trying to steady his breathing. The pressure coming from the man in front of him felt instinctive, like standing too close to a predator that had already decided whether you were worth ignoring or crushing. Still, Rhys forced himself to relax his shoulders, then gave a proper bow.“It’s an honor to meet you, sir Dragon King. I’m Rhys, disciple of the Forest Queen Wyndia.”He reached into his pocket and handed over the letter of recommendation. “This is the principal’s letter.”The Dragon King took it, a faint smile forming as he looked at Rhys. Even though Rhys’s hands were clearly unsteady, he had managed to pull himself back together quickly.Maeve, standing beside him, followed his lead after a short pause. The Dragon King tilted his head slightly. “Since you’re here, I assume you’ve agreed to my conditions?”“About that…” Rhys scratched the back of his head. The Dragon King’s eyes narrowed just a little, hi
Chapter 111
“This is Fern City,” Maeve muttered while her gaze moved across the surroundings, trying to take everything in at once. The place felt unlike any city she had seen before. It was a strange blend of civilization and living nature. Massive trees rose high into the sky, and at different heights, houses were built directly into their trunks and branches. Wooden bridges and rope ladders connected everything together, forming a network between the treetops. On the ground level, between the roots of those enormous trees, stood sturdier brick buildings and stone structures. Most of the buildings were simple box-like shapes, but that simplicity allowed people from many different races to live there without issue.A man with cat ears ran across one of the wooden bridges. A group of harpies relaxed on thick branches overhead, chatting casually. Humans and other races stood together along the streets, some talking, others drinking as if they had known each other for years.“This is a place where
Chapter 110
Just as Wyndia had predicted, news about Rhys spread quickly. It didn’t stay within the academy for long. Nobles began talking, then entire regions, and soon even other kingdoms had heard his name.Among all of them, the one who reacted the most was the king of the Virelith Kingdom, Julian Roderick. After more than forty years on the throne, Julian carried himself with the calm presence of a ruler who had seen everything. He sat alone in the quiet hall, his crown resting steadily on his head, a faint smile forming on his lips as he spoke."Did you hear that, Cage? Your daughter lost to a freshman."Standing nearby was Cage Harold, vice captain of the royal guard and one of the finest swordsmen in the kingdom. Despite his position, his appearance remained gentle, almost unassuming. His hand rested lightly on the hilt of his sword as he bowed his head slightly."My apologies, Your Majesty. My daughter has disappointed you."Even so, his posture didn’t change much. His hand never left hi
Chapter 109
“So you felt that much pain…” Wyndia nodded slowly, as if the result matched something she had already expected. She looked at him for a moment before asking, “How long did it take before you passed out?”“I didn’t,” Rhys replied, shaking his head. “I stayed conscious the whole time.”Inside, he couldn’t help but think about all those cultivation stories he had read. In those, losing consciousness usually meant failure, sometimes even death. That idea had stuck with him, so he forced himself to endure everything without letting go, no matter how bad it got.Wyndia’s reaction caught him off guard. She actually looked surprised. “You didn’t pass out?”“Yeah. Is that a problem?” Rhys frowned slightly.Instead of answering right away, Wyndia walked over to the blackboard and picked up a diagram of the human body. She tapped the illustration near the mouth with her pointer.“When you swallow a core, it dissolves and turns into Mana,” she began. “That Mana flows into your body. As you alrea
Chapter 108
“Aaaahhhh!” The scream tore out of Rhys before he could even think to hold it back. He had braced himself for discomfort. When he absorbed a Common class core before, the sensation had been unpleasant, sharp enough to make him grit his teeth, but still manageable. This time, he expected something worse along the same line. What he got instead was pain so intense it didn’t even feel real. His eyes rolled upward until only the whites showed, his body jerking as it arched off the bed. A moment later, he collapsed back down and began thrashing, his hands clawing at his chest. The pain centered there, tight and suffocating, as if the core had lodged itself in his throat and refused to move. It wasn’t a normal kind of pain. He had been stabbed before and endured it. That had been brutal, but this was different. This felt like something was tearing him apart from the inside, piece by piece. The scream that came out of him now was raw and uncontrolled, louder than anything he had let out
Chapter 107
“I got you!” The words came out through clenched teeth, almost like a dare thrown at death itself. For a split second, Anubis and Gaelion could only stare, both of them realizing just how far Rhys had gone with this plan. It wasn’t just risky anymore. It crossed into something reckless, something that could have easily gotten him killed if even a single step went wrong. The alien reacted immediately, trying to jerk its blade free. It twisted and forced the weapon up and down, then tried to pull it back altogether, but Rhys held on with everything he had. His hands refused to loosen their grip, even as the strain tore through his body. Seeing that it couldn’t free the blade, the alien made a quick decision. Its other arm shifted, forming a second blade meant to finish Rhys off in one clean strike. Before it could act, Gaelion lunged forward without hesitation and clamped his jaws down on that arm. The alien hadn’t expected that kind of interference. Gaelion tore into it with brutal
