The teacher was standing in front of the vice principal of the school while sweating. For some reason, the vice principal had been staring at a single paper for the last twenty minutes.
She was so absorbed that he felt something crazy would happen if he distracted her.
After another ten minutes, she raised her head, asking, "Johan. Who is this kid?"
"May I know who you're speaking of, vice principal?"
"This student called Rhys."
The teacher raised his eyebrows in surprise. "He is a farmer from the countryside. His body has a trace of Mana, so the one who spots him brings him to the capital city to take the test in the academy."
"A farmer? You seem to know him. I don't see you looking at the student's details." The way Johan spoke piqued her interest.
"He made a quite big impact after all… not in a good way though."
"Hoh? What did he do?"
"He summoned an animal." The teacher looked away. Even he didn't know how to react when he saw an animal coming out.
"An animal? As in my original summon?"
"No. A pure animal."
The vice principal became even more curious. "Bring him to see me."
The teacher looked shocked. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of trick that student used to pique the vice principal's curiosity. At the same time, he had to ask about the fate of the other students.
"How about the other students? This year, we have a few interesting students this time. From the most renowned family in vampire creatures, the princess of Duke Ashton, SelMana Ashton.
"The successor of the Blacksmith Guild, August Reeves. The Second Prince of the Liaystian Kingdom, known for his high Mana, Rudeus Viti Liaystian."
The vice principal snapped her fingers. All of a sudden, an elf appeared next to her. She had long silver hair and a similar outfit as the vice principal as though she had gotten used to living in this world.
"Riva."
"Give me a second." She smiled. She scanned the papers of all students and started giving points to each of them. It didn't take more than five minutes to grade all the students. "I'm done."
"Thank you."
"No worries. Call me anytime." She winked before disappearing into thin air.
"Here you go." The vice principal handed the paper to Johan. "This is the grade. However, wait until I meet this kid."
"Is there something wrong with this kid?"
"Mhmm. I will have a talk with him first before deciding whether to let him remain as a normal farmer or not."
The decision baffled him, but he had no choice but to agree. "I understand. I'll bring him to you."
…
Meanwhile, Rhys was sitting on a bench, away from other students. Gaelion was sitting next to him.
"So, do you think you can get enrolled here?" Gaelion asked.
"I don't know. I've done my best, but I don't know if it will work or not." Rhys shrugged. "I wonder what kind of work we can do outside. Does this world have an adventurer guild? That's the starting pack of an isekai."
"Ise—what? Your words confused me."
"Well, just think of it being summoned to another world by a god or goddesses."
"I wonder how strong they are. Can I fight them?"
"Now that I think about it, I can't help but wonder what kind of knowledge you have in your head. For example, do you know that you are only one legend among many others?"
"Do you mean there are other divine beasts and gods and goddesses?" Gaelion's eyes brightened.
"Why do you look like you want to fight them?" Rhys's eyebrows twitched. "Besides, I want to summon another one. Preferably a woman!"
"What if you end up summoning another divine bea—Mmff!" Gaelion widened his eyes as his mouth was shut by two fingers.
"Shut up! Don't you jinx it, stupid dog!" Rhys glared at him.
Gaelion slipped away from him and bit his hand. "How dare you stop me from speaking, you horny brat! Besides, I'm a wolf!"
"Aaaaaggghhh! It's human abuse!" Rhys was struggling to break free. Despite his anger, the bite wasn't that powerful. It seemed that Gaelion controlled his strength well. That was why he was also acting casually toward him.
While they were arguing, Rhys couldn't help but catch a glimpse of the female student seated next to him earlier.
"Mhmm?"
"What?" Gaelion stopped for a second before getting annoyed again. "I thought, what could catch your attention? It turned out to be a woman. Are you going to confess to her right away?"
"Flat rejection is what I'll get. Besides, look at her."
"What? I can't see anything different between her and other females."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Just look at her cold and aloof atmosphere, her beautiful appearance, and her indifference toward others, this girl has a heroine quality."
"You always talk as if we are inside a book. Have you ever imagined yourself getting injured or getting one of your limbs chopped off? This is your reality right now. Staying in this academy means that you will experience a lot of hardships."
"I know that." Rhys's expression turned solemn. "I can't even hold the pain of getting hit in the shin or having your pinky toe bump against a bed's front leg, so I can't imagine what it feels like to get cut or shot. That's why I want to stay in this academy, learning more about it step by step so that I can survive in this world."
"Hmph. You are pretty reasonable if we get rid of that annoying side of yours. Just get stronger. If you are strong enough, you can get any woman you want." Gaelion harrumphed.
"Right? Isn't that the main driving factor? It's said that if you have a driving factor, you can improve much faster."
Looking at Rhys's smug face made Gaelion want to bite him again. Unfortunately, he didn't have the chance as the teacher actually came to him.
"Student Rhys. Please follow me to talk about your admission."
Rhys and Gaelion couldn't help but smile inwardly. They knew that the fish had taken the bait.

Chapter 112
“So this man is the Dragon King.” Rhys kept that thought in his head while trying to steady his breathing. The pressure coming from the man in front of him felt instinctive, like standing too close to a predator that had already decided whether you were worth ignoring or crushing. Still, Rhys forced himself to relax his shoulders, then gave a proper bow.“It’s an honor to meet you, sir Dragon King. I’m Rhys, disciple of the Forest Queen Wyndia.”He reached into his pocket and handed over the letter of recommendation. “This is the principal’s letter.”The Dragon King took it, a faint smile forming as he looked at Rhys. Even though Rhys’s hands were clearly unsteady, he had managed to pull himself back together quickly.Maeve, standing beside him, followed his lead after a short pause. The Dragon King tilted his head slightly. “Since you’re here, I assume you’ve agreed to my conditions?”“About that…” Rhys scratched the back of his head. The Dragon King’s eyes narrowed just a little, hi
Chapter 111
“This is Fern City,” Maeve muttered while her gaze moved across the surroundings, trying to take everything in at once. The place felt unlike any city she had seen before. It was a strange blend of civilization and living nature. Massive trees rose high into the sky, and at different heights, houses were built directly into their trunks and branches. Wooden bridges and rope ladders connected everything together, forming a network between the treetops. On the ground level, between the roots of those enormous trees, stood sturdier brick buildings and stone structures. Most of the buildings were simple box-like shapes, but that simplicity allowed people from many different races to live there without issue.A man with cat ears ran across one of the wooden bridges. A group of harpies relaxed on thick branches overhead, chatting casually. Humans and other races stood together along the streets, some talking, others drinking as if they had known each other for years.“This is a place where
Chapter 110
Just as Wyndia had predicted, news about Rhys spread quickly. It didn’t stay within the academy for long. Nobles began talking, then entire regions, and soon even other kingdoms had heard his name.Among all of them, the one who reacted the most was the king of the Virelith Kingdom, Julian Roderick. After more than forty years on the throne, Julian carried himself with the calm presence of a ruler who had seen everything. He sat alone in the quiet hall, his crown resting steadily on his head, a faint smile forming on his lips as he spoke."Did you hear that, Cage? Your daughter lost to a freshman."Standing nearby was Cage Harold, vice captain of the royal guard and one of the finest swordsmen in the kingdom. Despite his position, his appearance remained gentle, almost unassuming. His hand rested lightly on the hilt of his sword as he bowed his head slightly."My apologies, Your Majesty. My daughter has disappointed you."Even so, his posture didn’t change much. His hand never left hi
Chapter 109
“So you felt that much pain…” Wyndia nodded slowly, as if the result matched something she had already expected. She looked at him for a moment before asking, “How long did it take before you passed out?”“I didn’t,” Rhys replied, shaking his head. “I stayed conscious the whole time.”Inside, he couldn’t help but think about all those cultivation stories he had read. In those, losing consciousness usually meant failure, sometimes even death. That idea had stuck with him, so he forced himself to endure everything without letting go, no matter how bad it got.Wyndia’s reaction caught him off guard. She actually looked surprised. “You didn’t pass out?”“Yeah. Is that a problem?” Rhys frowned slightly.Instead of answering right away, Wyndia walked over to the blackboard and picked up a diagram of the human body. She tapped the illustration near the mouth with her pointer.“When you swallow a core, it dissolves and turns into Mana,” she began. “That Mana flows into your body. As you alrea
Chapter 108
“Aaaahhhh!” The scream tore out of Rhys before he could even think to hold it back. He had braced himself for discomfort. When he absorbed a Common class core before, the sensation had been unpleasant, sharp enough to make him grit his teeth, but still manageable. This time, he expected something worse along the same line. What he got instead was pain so intense it didn’t even feel real. His eyes rolled upward until only the whites showed, his body jerking as it arched off the bed. A moment later, he collapsed back down and began thrashing, his hands clawing at his chest. The pain centered there, tight and suffocating, as if the core had lodged itself in his throat and refused to move. It wasn’t a normal kind of pain. He had been stabbed before and endured it. That had been brutal, but this was different. This felt like something was tearing him apart from the inside, piece by piece. The scream that came out of him now was raw and uncontrolled, louder than anything he had let out
Chapter 107
“I got you!” The words came out through clenched teeth, almost like a dare thrown at death itself. For a split second, Anubis and Gaelion could only stare, both of them realizing just how far Rhys had gone with this plan. It wasn’t just risky anymore. It crossed into something reckless, something that could have easily gotten him killed if even a single step went wrong. The alien reacted immediately, trying to jerk its blade free. It twisted and forced the weapon up and down, then tried to pull it back altogether, but Rhys held on with everything he had. His hands refused to loosen their grip, even as the strain tore through his body. Seeing that it couldn’t free the blade, the alien made a quick decision. Its other arm shifted, forming a second blade meant to finish Rhys off in one clean strike. Before it could act, Gaelion lunged forward without hesitation and clamped his jaws down on that arm. The alien hadn’t expected that kind of interference. Gaelion tore into it with brutal
