CHAPTER 3

I'M RICH

Jack knew that was the end for him.

He saw the castles he had built in the air come down all at once, rumbling noiselessly.

Jack felt as though this whole thing was a dream.

He wished someone would just tap him and bring him back to reality.

He just kept looking at the duo without saying a word.

" Hey, young man, I will advise you to leave here as soon as possible." Alfred said and stood up from the bed.

He motioned towards Jack, smiled at him, and pushed him out.

He closed the door on him.

Jack was too numb and weak to retaliate

Jack knew he had no option but to leave the house.

Tracy had been Jack's girlfriend for close to two years.

He had been with her through thick and thin

Tracy was a homeless girl on the streets until Jack found her one day when he was at the ATM, withdrawing money.

Tracy had gone to him to beg him for some money, and Jack fell in love with her at first sight.

Jack thought of a way to help her, and that very day, he took her to a shopping spree, got her a guest house to stay for the night, and took care of her.

After a few days of taking care of Tracy, Jack confessed his love to Tracy, and she readily agreed to that.

Tracy became Jack's girlfriend, and Jack did everything in his power to make her happy, including buying her a house on her birthday.

Jack's father, Mr. McAllister knew of their relationship, and seeing the way Jack loved Tracy, he blessed their union.

Jack made sure she was always happy by spending time with her and giving her whatever she wanted.

He wondered if Tracy had been cheating on her for a long time and how she was able to do that without him noticing.

Jack walked silently to the entrance door of the house and looked around in the living room.

Every single thing in the room was from his own money.

He had bought most ( if not all) of the items for her.

He heaved a sigh, and a tear dropped from his eye.

He had been holding himself so hard not to cry.

It looked like he had been a fool all along.

He had been too caring and blinded by love to notice any unusual behaviours from Tracy.

He thought about his life for a moment.

In about thirty minutes, he had lost his possessions and his power, his rightful position, his shelter and food, his comfort, and most of it all, his girlfriend.

He realized it was the very end for him.

Now he had nothing on him, no money, no food, no shelter, and no clothing, apart from the very one he was in, and now, he lost his girlfriend

He fought very hard with his emotions and the tears that were threatening to break through his eyes..

He heaved a sigh as he slowly walked out through the gates and came out of the compound.

He turned around and looked at the building.

The building that was once his source of joy and his second home, the home he had bought for his loving girlfriend, had become a home that he was being sacked from.

He shook his head and cleaned a tear that had dropped from his eyes.

Three days in, a brokenhearted and homeless Jack had now sought refuge to save his life.

He had accepted the job as a cleaner in a restaurant in order to survive.

He was underpaid and underfed,yet he was better off with it than going hungry.

His only comfort in the rest of his life was that he was alive.

Day by day, he thought about his past life and how he was going to get back to his feet.

He thought about how he was going to get back to the house and take over his properties.

Jack was now lonely and was always quiet on the job.

His only companion was his mobile phone, and a game that was installed on it.

Jack would always be seen playing the game whenever he was free from work.

Jack played the game to a point where he began fantasizing about how he was going to get the money he had made from playing the game into real life.

One bright sunny day as he was playing the game as usual,he had an idea to withdraw the money from the game to his bank account.

He had enough knowledge about coding and hacking of apps and systems, and he believed that with knowledge he had, he could do the work.

After much contemplation and deliberation with his inner self, he set off to work

He began operating his phone speedily in an abnormal mode until he finally pressed a button as he believed it to be the end.

Nothing happened.

He looked on for a minute without anything happening .

That was the end. He felt disappointed in himself for trying to get a game item into a reality.

He heaved a sigh and shrugged

But just as he was about to drop his phone, his phone beeped, and he hurriedly looked at it.

" PHONE ON, TRANSACTION STARTING"

Then, the progression bar appeared again and began loading.

" TRANSFERING TWENTY BILLION DOLLARS TO ACCOUNT 5% DONE"

The popup followed.

Jack could not believe his eyes.

He stared at the phone in disbelief as the progression bar slowly progressed.

He felt like shouting, but he closed his mouth with his palms to contain himself.

He stared at the phone screen silently as the progression bar moved.

The transaction had been initiated after all.

He smiled at himself as his whole head became full of thoughts.

He looked around.

Everybody was still going about their business absentmindedly.

Jack stood up from his seat and quickly made his way to the washroom.

He closed the door behind him and opened the tap on the sink.

He washed his face three times and cleaned it as he watched the phone.

The progression bar still continued reading.

" I'm rich, I'm rich, I'm rich….." He kept muttering while he stared at the phone screen.

Finally, the progression bar read 100%, and a notification popped up.

" TRANSACTION COMPLETE, MONEY TRANSFERRED"

At that moment, he received an alert from his bank, his personal bank.

It was the confirmation of the receipt of $20B.

At that moment, Jack felt like fainting.

He could feel his whole body go off at once and his eyes blurry.

A vibration in his phone brought him back to life as he looked at the phone again.

“ I am rich… I am rich” He murmured

The words repeatedly came out of his mouth, getting louder at each say

" I am riiiiiiich," Jack shouted on top of his voice.

His voice echoed through the whole room.

" I am fucking riiiiiich" He screamed again.
