“Mommy,” Maggie said, her voice trembling softly. “This is my home. It’s not Leo’s house. Why do I have to leave?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She stood near the edge of the decorated carpet, clutching her teddy bear tightly against her chest.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">The question was simple and painfully innocent.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">The moment Maggie spoke, Leo’s eyes widened in shock. He immediately let go of Lyra’s hand and stumbled back as tears burst from his eyes. Covering his face with both hands, he broke into loud sobs, his small shoulders shaking violently while he stomped his feet against the floor.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“See, Daddy?! She’s bullying me!” Leo cried through his tears, his small shoulders shaking violently. “She’s only being mean to me because I don’t have a mommy! Kids at school already treat me like I don’t belong anywhere… and now she’s doing it too!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">He buried his face in his hands and sobbed harder.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“I hate it here! I want my mommy…”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Lyra's expression changed fast. Her hesitation vanished, replaced by panic and protective anger. She knelt down, pulling Leo into her arms and rocking him.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Oh, Leo, sweetheart, don’t cry,” Lyra comforted him softly as she pulled him into her arms. “You belong here, okay? Mommy Lyra is right here with you. You don’t have to listen to hurtful things anyone says about you.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She smoothed down Leo’s hair then stood up slowly turning her eyes at Maggie.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Maggie! How can you be so mean and selfish?!” Lyra scolded her sharply. “Look at what you did to him!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Her face hardened with disappointment as she stared at her daughter.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“I never expected you to grow into such a spoiled and insensitive child, Maggie. Honestly… I’m very disappointed in you.” She pointed toward Leo. “Now apologize to him immediately and say you’re sorry for being mean.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Maggie lowered her head immediately, her tiny lower lip trembling.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Before Maggie could say anything Brandon stepped in front of her blocking Lyra’s gaze.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“She did nothing wrong, Lyra,” Brandon stated firmly. “This is Maggie’s home. She shouldn’t have to lower herself and beg for forgiveness just because you pity someone else.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">"Brandon! You spoil her too much!" Lyra argued loudly. "This is why she acts like a princess! You shield her from everything. Now she has no empathy for a motherless child!"

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“She’s a six-year-old little girl whose own mother is trying to force her out of her house on her birthday, Lyra,” Brandon shot back angrily. “Just listen to yourself for one second and think about what you’re actually saying.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Oh, please!” Lyra sighed impatiently. “It’s only one damn birthday, Brandon! Maggie will have plenty of birthdays with me in the future. We can celebrate next year or the year after that...”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She pointed toward Leo, who was still crying against Jake’s side.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“But Leo has never had a real family before. He’s emotionally fragile, and for once he deserves to feel loved and wanted.” Her expression hardened as she looked back at Brandon. “Why can’t the two of you stop being selfish and show a little kindness to a child who has nothing?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon let out a shaky breath. The irony of Lyra's words cut through his chest. He knew the reality. He knew Maggie didn't have time. Looking at his wife’s face he realized that telling her the truth was useless. She was blind.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">"Besides," Lyra continued. "Jake and I need to discuss an investment project this evening. We are going over the numbers tonight."

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“If this investment succeeds,” Lyra said, her eyes gleaming with ambition, “my company will expand to an entirely new level. We’re talking about a fifty-million-dollar deal, Brandon. Timing is critical right now, and Jake and I need to finalize everything tonight before the market opens tomorrow morning.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She crossed her arms before continuing coldly,

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Having Jake stay here makes things far more efficient for our discussions. We don’t have time to waste driving back and forth across the city.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She stepped closer to Brandon looking down at him. "So I am telling you Brandon do not get in our way today. But of course, you wouldn’t understand that. You’ve never had to build something the way I have.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles cracked in the heavy silence of the room.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">In Lyra’s eyes, he had never truly been her partner or her equal.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">He had only ever been the man standing quietly behind her while she chased success.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Lyra, listen to me,” Brandon said quietly, his voice turning frighteningly calm. “I’m going to give you one last warning. If you miss our daughter’s birthday to stay with them instead… you will regret it for the rest of your life.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Before he could even finish Lyra let out a groan and cut him off.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Oh, shut up, Brandon! I’m so tired of your constant threats,” Lyra frowned, her face twisting with irritation. “Look at yourself…. What are you even capable of besides using Maggie to gain sympathy for yourself? Aren't you ashamed of yourself?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Maggie stood quietly behind her father, watching the argument unfold.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">"Daddy," Maggie said, her voice calm. "It's okay. Don't be mad. I just remembered that I haven't been to the amusement park downtown in a long time. I want to see the rollercoasters and eat cotton candy."

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon looked down at her, his expression softening.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">"Why don't you take me there for my birthday tomorrow instead Daddy?" Maggie suggested, her eyes shining. "And Mommy can stay here and celebrate with Leo so he doesn't feel sad. That sounds like fun anyway!"

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon stared at his daughter's face. He knew her better than anyone. He knew she was only pretending to be strong. But he did not say anything in front of Lyra and the others.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Alright, princess,” Brandon whispered softly as he knelt down to pick up her teddy bear from the floor.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“If that’s what my little girl wants, then that’s exactly what we’ll do,” he said quietly. “We’ll go to the amusement park, have fun with all the rides, eat all the cotton candy you want, and make tomorrow the happiest birthday ever.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Maggie smiled softly before slowly looking back toward Lyra. She hesitated for a moment, nervously biting her lower lip before taking a tiny step closer to her mother.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Mommy?” Maggie called quietly, her voice small and hopeful. “Um… after you finish celebrating Leo’s birthday tomorrow… could you maybe come to the amusement park too?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She clutched her teddy bear tighter against her chest as she looked up at Lyra with pleading eyes.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Even if it’s only for a little while…” Maggie continued softly. “Could you watch me ride the carousel? Just once?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Then she slowly lifted her tiny pinky finger toward her mother.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“I promise I won’t take up too much of your time, Mommy,” she whispered. “I just really want to see you on my birthday.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Lyra looked down at Maggie's finger. For a moment it was quiet in the living room. Lyra looked at Jake then back at Maggie's pale face.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She let out a sigh.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Fine, Maggie,” Lyra finally said with a sigh, though her tone still sounded distant and cold. “After Leo cuts his cake tomorrow afternoon and we finish our meetings, I’ll drive over to the amusement park and spend a little time with you both.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She paused briefly before adding. “Are you happy now?”

  • I'M DEEPLY SORRY, YOUNG MASTER

The heavy silence inside the lobby was so thick that even the soft pattern of rain against the glass roof could be heard clearly.A dozen security guards slowly advanced, their metal batons sliding free with sharp clacking sounds. They surrounded Brandon from every direction, their tense expressions making it obvious they were ready to attack at the slightest command."You're still acting arrogant, huh?" the manager asked with a deep frown.Brandon merely hummed."I haven't said anything arrogant," he replied calmly. "Just let me go upstairs, and this will end peacefully."The manager's expression darkened."How dare you talk back to me?" She snapped. "Have you forgotten your place? Is it because I've been speaking to you too politely?"One of the security guards stepped forward and cracked his knuckles."Allow me, Manager," he said with a cold grin. "I'll crack his head open and make sure he never talks back again."The manager stood behind the wall of guards, a satisfied smile sprea

Unaware of the storm brewing around him, Brandon pushed through the glass doors and stepped back into the hotel from the rain.He shook the water from his jacket and adjusted his grip on the small paper bag containing the medicine. His wet boots left faint tracks across the polished marble floor as he headed toward the elevators.Brandon never noticed the man standing partially hidden behind a massive marble pillar near the entrance.George remained in the shadows, his eyes fixed on Brandon's retreating figure.Shock flickered across h

  • BRING HIM TO ME

Inside the suite on the thirteenth floor, Brandon had just placed a glass of water on the nightstand when a soft groan drifted from the bed.He paused and glanced over his shoulder. The woman stirred beneath the blankets, her brows knitted together in discomfort. However, not wanting to involve himself in her matters, Brandon turned toward the door, intending to leave and finally get some rest. But as he passed the bed, a small hand suddenly shot out and grabbed the fabric of his gray shirt. Her fingers clutched it tightly, almost desperately, as if she was afraid he would disappear the moment she let go.Her small hand held his shirt with all the strength left in her as she did not want to let him go."Don't go," she pleaded weakly, her eyes half-closed. "Please don't leave me alone in the dark. I feel sick... My stomach hurts." Her face twisted in pain. "It really hurts..."Brandon looked down at the hand gripping his sleeve. When he tried to gently pull her fingers away, she sudden

  • YOUNG MASTER GEORGE?

"Y-You... you're actually shouting at me?" The woman stared at him in disbelief. "Do you even know who I am?""I don't care," Brandon replied coldly. He leaned back in his chair, his expression completely indifferent."You're sitting in my room without my permission. You're drinking, talking endlessly, and disturbing my peace." His eyes met hers without the slightest hesitation. "So yes, I have every right to say whatever I want and raise my voice if I feel like it."For a moment, the room fell silent. The woman looked at him with tear-filled eyes, no one had ever spoken to her like that before. Most people either envied her wealth, wanted something from her family, or tried to curry favor with her by agreeing with everything she said. Some were so eager to gain her family's support that they would have happily nodded along to any nonsense she spoke.Throughout her life, she had heard the same words over and over again.People always told her that it was better to cry in a luxury car

  • AT LEAST TELL ME YOUR NAME

“What do I want?” The woman let out a soft laugh.“I think we have a long night ahead of us to figure that out.” She gestured toward the empty chair across from her. “Come, sit down and keep me company for a while.”She settled into the armchair beside the window, crossing her legs gracefully beneath her silk gown. Picking up the bottle, she poured red wine into two crystal glasses before extending one toward him.Brandon didn't take it.Instead, he walked over to the desk and pulled out the chair opposite her. Sitting down, he folded his arms across his chest and leaned back slightly. His expression remained cold and unreadable…. He didn't touch the wine, he didn't speak either. He simply watched her with quiet, emotionless eyes. The woman did not seem to mind that Brandon did not take the wine. She took a gulp of the wine using it to help her talk. A sad smile was on her lips as she looked at the glass."You probably think I'm some crazy woman who likes playing games," the woman sai

The only light came from the pale moon shining through the floor-to-ceiling window.Brandon sat motionless on the edge of the bed. He had removed his boots and changed into a simple gray T-shirt and loose trousers. His hands rested on his knees, and his eyes remained fixed on the wall ahead. On the nightstand beside him, his phone kept vibrating.Again…. And again…. And again. The screen lit up the dark room every few seconds, displaying the same name over and over.LYRA.The constant buzzing echoed through the silence, yet Brandon never reached for the phone. He didn't even glance at it.He simply sat there, staring blankly ahead as the calls continued to come one after another."It doesn't matter anymore," Brandon murmured to himself, his voice was flat and emotionless. There was no anger left, no sadness, and no resentment. In his mind, he was already done with Lyra. The room at the Grand Horizon
