The only thing more expensive than buying a billionaire's empire is paying the debt for a life you tried to steal.
Leo Walker stood firmly in the very center of the ruined apartment room, the dark kinetic energy around his body slowly receding back into the metal of his family ring. He looked down at his crying ex-wife and his broken former boss with an expression of pure, completely detached indifference. The room was deathly quiet now, save for the heavy sound of the storm outside.
Bradley was hyperventilating loudly, his bloody hands clawing desperately at the dirty floorboards as he tried to pull himself backward. "Leo... please listen to me. I will give you absolutely everything I have left. I have a secret offshore bank account hidden away in Switzerland, fifty million dollars in cash that the federal court auditors completely missed during the initial raid. It’s yours. Every single cent of it is yours, Leo. Just let me leave the country tonight. I will never come back to this city. I swear it on my very life."
Leo walked over slowly, his heavy boot stepping right onto Bradley’s outstretched hand, crushing his fingers brutally into the hard wood. Bradley screamed out in pure agony, his body convulsing, but Leo did not lift his foot even a fraction of an inch.
"Do you still honestly think this situation is about money, Bradley?" Leo asked softly, his voice cutting through the man's screams. "You truly thought you could take my life, throw my body into the deep ocean like common waste, and just buy your way out of the consequences with a bank transfer? Fifty million dollars is less than what I spend on my personal security detail's weekly fuel expenses. Your wealth means absolutely nothing to me."
"Please!" Bradley choked out, tears of pain mixing with the grime on his face. "My hand! You are breaking my bones!"
"You broke my life, Bradley," Leo replied, his tone remaining terrifyingly calm. "A few fingers are a very light down payment."
"I was greedy, Leo! I admit it!" Bradley wept, pressing his forehead against the floorboards. "Just do not kill me!"
"Death is a luxury you have not earned yet," Leo said.
Leo slowly lifted his heavy foot from the crushed hand and turned his gaze directly toward Chloe.
She was weeping hysterically against the wall, her expensive gala makeup completely smeared across her face, making her look incredibly haggard, exhausted, and old. "Leo... baby, please listen to me," she begged loudly, trying hard to crawl forward on her knees to grab the wet hem of his black coat. "I was forced into doing it, Leo. Bradley completely threatened me. He explicitly told me he would ruin my entire family if I didn't help him get rid of you. I always loved you, Leo. I only pinned your legs down to the floorboards because I was terrified he would kill me too. Please, just give me another chance. We can leave this terrible city and start over together."
Leo looked down at her face, and for a brief second, a distant memory of the young woman he used to love flashed through his mind. He remembered the woman who used to smile so brightly whenever he brought her white lilies. But that sweet memory was instantly burned away by the fresh image of her cold, calculating eyes as she held him down while he suffocated in his own bedroom.
"You are a truly disgusting creature, Chloe," Leo said, his voice entirely flat and completely devoid of even a trace of anger. "You didn't love me when I was poor and struggling to pay our rent, and you terrify me now that you know I am rich beyond your wildest dreams. You stayed with Bradley because you wanted a life of luxury and status. Well, you have your life now, Chloe. Look around you. This tiny, rotten room is your new kingdom."
"Leo, no! Do not leave me here with him!" Chloe shrieked, her fingers slipping off his coat as he stepped away. "I cannot survive in the slums! You know I cannot!"
"You chose your partner, Chloe," Leo stated, his back completely straight. "Now you get to share his fate."
"I am your wife!" she screamed, her voice cracking as she threw herself at his feet once more. "You cannot just abandon me in the dark!"
"My wife died the moment she pinned my legs," Leo said, not even looking down at her.
Leo turned his back on them completely, walking toward the shattered wooden doorway where Master Vance was waiting patiently under a large black umbrella.
"Vance," Leo said as he stepped out into the dimly lit concrete hallway. "Inform the leaders of the Iron Dock Syndicate that they are to immediately double their weekly collection efforts on Bradley. If he cannot pay the interest with his fingers, tell them to start taking his limbs one by one. But make sure they keep him alive. He hasn't suffered nearly enough for what he did."
"And what exactly about the woman, Young Master?" Vance asked, looking back into the dark room at the sobbing Chloe. "Shall we have her removed from the district?"
"Leave her right here," Leo replied cold-bloodedly, his eyes fixed on the exit. "Let her stay right by his side as he is systematically dismantled piece by piece by the collectors. Let her see exactly what her corporate ambition bought her at the end of the day."
"Understood, sir," Vance nodded, closing the door firmly behind them, cutting off the view of the ruined apartment. "The loan sharks will receive the updated orders within the hour."
As Leo walked down the dark, narrow stairwell of the tenement building, the sound of Chloe’s desperate screaming and Bradley’s groans of physical pain slowly faded into the background. He stepped out of the front entrance and into the pouring rain, where a fleet of matching black luxury cars was waiting for him along the curb, their heavy engines purring loudly in the quiet night like predatory beasts.
"Young Master," Vance said quickly as he opened the rear door of the lead vehicle for Leo. "The Crimson Lotus Council has officially declared open war on our eastern shipping routes after the incident with their extraction squad tonight. Our scouts report that their high elders are already mobilizing their private military forces across the capital city borders."
Leo sat back comfortably in the premium leather seat, looking down at the glowing crimson crest on his ring as the luxury car pulled smoothly away from the curb of the slums.
"Let them come," Leo said, a dark, terrifying smile spreading slowly across his face as the city lights reflected in the wet window glass. "I was a simple office clerk who followed every single rule for thirty long years, Vance, and it got me killed in my own bed. Now, I think it is finally time to show this entire world what happens when the supreme heir stops playing by the rules."
"The capital will burn if they cross our line, sir," Vance noted, shifting the car into high gear.
"Let it burn," Leo whispered into the dark. "I want them to see the shadow they woke up."
The fleet of black vehicles accelerated through the muddy streets of Sector 4, leaving the industrial slums behind as they headed toward the bright lights of the financial district, ready for the war that was about to consume the city.

The Extraction
The sky does not bleed water when the true masters of the dark go to war, it bleeds absolute terror. The heavy rain poured down violently on Sector 4, turning the dirty streets into deep rivers of thick black mud. The broken streetlights along the sidewalk flickered weakly against the heavy downpour, casting long, eerie shadows across the decaying neighborhood.Inside the pitch black space of Room 302, Bradley and Chloe were huddled together tightly in the far corner of the dark, the building's electricity having been cut off completely hours ago due to non-payment. Every single creak and groan from the narrow hallway outside made them jump in fear, their minds entirely terrified that the loan sharks had returned early to claim their physical fingers."Bradley, I hear something outside the door," Chloe whispered, her body shaking so violently that her teeth chattered in the dark. "Please tell me they are not back.""Keep your mouth shut, Chloe," Bradley hissed back in a desperate, rag
The Shadow's Edge
The dangerous thing about pulling a thread on a corporate empire is discovering the ancient monsters holding the other end. While Bradley and Chloe were drowning in the terrifying depths of the industrial slums, Leo Walker was sitting comfortably in a high-backed leather chair inside the secret subterranean archive of the Sovereign Group. The massive underground room was brightly illuminated by ancient stone torches that burned with a strange, deep blue flame that required absolutely no oil or fuel to sustain itself. The blue light cast long, dancing shadows across the rows of steel shelves and historic volumes that protected the true history of the world.Master Vance stood quietly by his side, carefully presenting an ancient leather-bound scroll written in a complex language that had been dead for thousands of years. The material was brittle, cracking slightly under the old man's steady fingers as he unrolled it across the heavy wooden presentation table."Young Master," Vance expla
The Lower Depths
You only realize how many monsters you created on your way up when they are waiting for you at the bottom. The industrial slums of Sector 4 were always covered in a thick, choking layer of grey smog that drifted constantly from the nearby chemical processing plants. The narrow streets were completely filled with deep potholes, overflowing metal trash bins, and desperate people trying hard to survive on meager daily wages. The air itself felt heavy and metallic, leaving a bitter taste on the tongue.A rusty yellow taxi pulled up slowly to the cracked curb of a crumbling, six story brick tenement building. Bradley and Chloe stepped out of the vehicle together, each carrying a single cheap plastic suitcase that contained the very few clothes the federal court auditors had allowed them to keep from their villa.Chloe looked up at the shattered glass windows and the rusty, twisted fire escapes clinging to the brick wall, her stomach turning over in absolute disgust. The highest towers collapse the fastest when the ground beneath them turns to ice.The morning sun did not bring a single ounce of warmth to Bradley Sterling’s private luxury villa. By eight o'clock in the morning, three massive yellow moving trucks were already parked directly outside the heavy iron gates. Men in dark blue uniforms were busy carrying out expensive oil paintings, luxury Italian furniture, and velvet lined jewelry cases under the direct supervision of the federal court auditors.Chloe stood right in the center of the grand marble foyer, wrapped tightly in a silk robe, screaming at a tired auditor who was currently cataloging her diamond necklace collection. "You cannot take those items from this house! Those pieces were personal gifts to me! This entire operation is completely illegal!""Ma'am," the auditor replied coldly, not even bothering to look up from the bright screen of his digital tablet. True Power Revealed
A billionaire on his knees looks no different from a beggar when his empire turns to dust. The silence stretching across the grand ballroom of the Imperial Hotel was completely suffocating. Hundreds of wealthy regional investors, elite bank executives, and high-society socialites watched the strange interaction unfold, their faces twisted in absolute confusion by the sudden, panicked change in Bradley and Chloe’s confident demeanor. They looked at each other, murmuring under their breath as they tried to understand why the city's top power couple looked entirely terrified of a single newcomer."Who exactly is this man?" Bradley demanded loudly, struggling hard to locate his regular, booming voice, though it trembled visibly at the edges. He gripped the edge of the stage podium until his knuckles turned entirely white. "Security! Get these people out of my sight right now! This is a private corporate event, and these individuals are trespassing on my property!"Four of the Imperial Hot
