“I told you, I don't want to get married to you. That was why I called off the engagement.” Monica said firmly.

Austin couldn't believe his eyes, he thought she was playing a prank on him. So he had to come over to her office to know if the message he saw was real.

“But you know, your father wanted us to get married. It was his last wish.” Austin muttered.

“That was then, but now he is no more. And I can't get married because that's his last wish. We aren't meant for each other. Can't you see the picture? You are just a local Doctor from the street. Look around you.” She said. “Darkness and light have nothing in common. I have someone I love and would love to get married to. Not you, Austin, over my dead body. Will that ever happen?”

Austin Davis and Monica Raymond were supposed to get married a long time ago, Mr. Graham Raymond wanted the marriage to push through after Austin saved his life from poison. The marriage was halted after the death of Graham.

It's been two months after his death and Austin still wants to keep the old man's last word. He has made plans for it to happen only to wake up and hear the sad news that Monica called off the wedding.

“Don't you have respect for your father's last wish?”

“You don't dare talk to me in such manner, Austin.” Her face flushed in rage. “Now, I know why you are pushing forward with the marriage. You want to come into my family and steal from us.”

Austin shook his head in disappointment. “I don't need your family's money, I can take care of myself and you without a dime from your father's money.”

“Who would believe that lie? You think I don't know your tricks this marriage is not going to work out. So you had better get that off your mind and move on with your life.”

Austin knew this was what it would result in; he adjusted his clothes as he got from the chair. “It's fine, I wouldn't force you. You have made your decision and I accept that. I will be on my way.” He ambled towards the exit.

Monica felt a surge of excitement within her; She was never in support of getting married to Austin; she had someone. Her boyfriend, Gerald Benson, is the son of Mr. Frank Benson, one of the richest families in Auburn. The Benson's are known to be the fourth richest family in the city.

She took her phone, dialled her mother's number and waited for a few rings before the caller answered.

“How was it? What was your reply?” Her mother asked hurriedly.

“What else do you expect him to say, I told him everything. I can't get married to him and he accepted.” She replied feeling proud.

“That's my girl,” Mrs Sarah said, smiling. “I would have killed myself if the wedding had gone through. What would people think about us? I couldn't believe your father wanted you to get married to a roadside doctor.” She scoffed her voice dripping with disgust.

“We need to celebrate this.” She added.

“Yes, mom. We really need to. I will be coming back home soon. You know what I want, my favourite.” Monica said.

“Sure, I will have the maid prepare them before your return.” Mrs Sarah smiled before the line went dead.

Monica, being the CEO of her father's company, couldn't bring herself to marry someone below her standards.

Meanwhile, Austin stepped out of the cab. His eyes scanned his environment as numerous cars were parked at the entrance of his house.

“Mr. Davis, I am glad you are here. We really need your help.” The man said, with her face etched in worry.

“Who are you and how can I assist you,” Austin asked, looking confused; he tried to suppress the anger he felt after his encounter with Monica.

“I am Ruddy, The second in common of Mr. Zachary Churchill.”

With the mention of Zachary's name, Austin's eyes were wide in surprise. Zachary is known to be the most feared mafia boss in Auburn and beyond. He is known to be ruthless and one doesn't dare talk when he is talking.

From the look of things, Austin could tell something was wrong.

“Why are you here? I have no business with Mr. Zachary or any of his men.” Austin intoned.

“We are here because our boss needs your help. He is lying inside, and he is dying.”

Austin strode into the house, where he found his cleaner standing looking perplexed before the men, while Mr. Zachary was lying on the bed motionless.

“What happened to him,” Austin asked, even if he had already seen with his third eye.

Ruddy exhaled deeply; he hesitated for a few minutes before he mouthed. “We had just returned from the Mafia council meeting when he started coughing out blood. And he went unconscious; I called all the Doctors I could contact, but they all couldn't diagnose what was wrong with him. You are my only hope, please save my master.”

A young lady, with black hair and blue eyes stepped forward. Her mouth moved from the gum she was chewing. She seems to be the only one without a pale face.

“Is he the person we have been waiting for?” She asked Ruddy, who nodded in agreement. “What are you waiting for, you should start your job. Save his life.”

Austin rolled his eyes at her, “If you want someone to save him you should take him somewhere else. You don't talk to me like that, this is my place.”

“Ruddy, did you hear him? What are you waiting for, Shot him. Or better still teach him a lesson.” She yelled.

Ruddy didn't pay attention to her words; his mind was racing fast. He was worried about his master and not some cheap slot his master owed.

“Mr. Austin, I am sorry. Please, I am begging you to save my master.”

Austin narrowed his gaze at Ruddy, he could see the desperation in his voice. “If you want me to attend to him, you should take her out of here. I don't let people who are rude into my chambers.”

The lady lost her cool; her hand hurled that slap at Austin.

“This is dangerous! You’re blaming a ghost for a medical condition and a miscarriage? This is cruel. Vincent, don’t do this. Don’t let him twist your pain into some spiritual delusion.” Dr. Clifford said angrily.“Mr. Churchill, you should put an end to the young man, he is trying to brainwash you into believing his fake stories. Never, he is trying to do something fake so you will get to reward him.”Austin smiled, “What’s cruel is denying a soul her peace. She’s not evil.”“I can handle this, your son is suffering from an autoimmune disease. And not some spirit thing. Dr. Oliver and I will handle this, you can send the man away. Besides you said the priest did his job.”The priest was a well-respected man, whom Vincent paid millions of dollars just to come over to his house. He witnessed the man perform his magic and placed some talismans around the house; he even gave them some, which Vincent and his family still had placed around the house.“You must talk to her.
