Chapter 8: A MOTHER'S LOVE

Miguel was dressed in a black suit his hair laid down shining like he had just walked out of a movie about a young billionaire Heir,

All the servents addressed him as young master, this made him feel uncomfortable but he hid his emotions well. While going to the restaurant, he didn't travel in the same car as his mother instead, he had his own car with a personal driver while his mother was in another car. 

Miguel knew he should have been happy considering he was now living a life he could only dream of but happiness was the furthest emotion he felt,

The scene at the Dinner table was at the back of his mind, it bothered him how everyone acted towards each other and to top things, there was something everyone was keeping away from him,

If only Rain hadn't refused, perhaps Mateo would have told him, he had a feeling whatever it was it was somehow connected to him becoming the heir of the Romans legacy out of the blue.

Trying to distract himself, he got his phone and searched about the Romans family.

Various photos of the family where posted online, looking at them, they looked like a typical happy family,

Leo was even holding Rain by the waist in one of the photos, she had the same usual soft smile, Miguel couldn't help feeling sorry for her because he knew with the way Leo treated her, she was probably not happy.

Miguel found out more about his family since they hadn't bothered to try to bond with him. He discovered Leo and Rain had been married for 2 years. Mateo was a world champion football player. His mom was a model when she was younger and now operated an agency. Lady Alice was the founder of the Romans empire and handed it to her son Ray when she retired. All of his family had huge achievements and were pretty successful, he couldn't help feeling less. He was nothing, just a man who had the worst luck in his life and then suddenly discovered he is the lost son of some billionaire with a disfunctional family. He let out a sign as the car stoped.

The driver opened the door for him and he walked out following his mother into a five star Hotel,

They both entered the empty restaurant but a few seconds later, the glass walls were  filled with reporters getting pictures of them, the security team they had come with blocked the reporters from entering the restaurant. Miguel began to wonder why it was empty when his mother spoke up

“I booked the entire restaurant” she spoke casually, Miguel was surprised, he didn't know someone could book an entire five star restaurant

“Are you enjoying yourself?, Am sure you are feeling big headed when you suddenly found out you are a billionaire, from rags to riches, I bet you must be feeling like the luckiest man alive” Miguel couldn't help but notice the hatred in his mother's voice,

She looked at him like she was disgusted and he wanted to know why

“Am sorry I returned into your life so suddenly” he began, his mother laughed

“Suddenly?, That wasn't sudden. We sat as a family and agreed on what to do. You are not here by chance, you are here because I wanted you to be, because apparently my stupid husband stripped us all of something that belongs to us” she said, she cursed in a low voice as she called the waiter.

At 26 years of age, Miguel never thought there was anything that would break him and make him cry but here he was tears filled in his eyes as he realized how much his mother didn't care about him

“Would you have looked for me had father not Left me everything he owned?” He asked with a sign blinking away tears

“Father?” She laughed sarcastically

“You already call him father” She paused and looked at him with a serious expression

“Miguel. You disappeared immediately you were born. Neither your father nor me even looked at you. We had accepted you were dead so excuse me if am not being a good mother to you. The only people I consider my son's are Leo and Mateo “ she brutally told him,

Miguel blinked away tears yet again,

“The cameras are on us, don't you dare act like a big baby and start crying” she warned him. Miguel was silent as he tried to compose himself

“Even after some time you will never consider me your son?” He asked

“No” The woman answered him without second thoughts, that broke Miguel in ways he didn't think possible. Just when he thought his bad luck had come to an end, he now understood it hadn't, it just came in a different shade this time around

“You said I was taken away from you immediately I was born. So who left that note with my name on it?” He asked. His mother was thoughtful for a moment, it was the first time Miguel saw the woman look speechless, when the waiter brought their food, she seemed too happy for the distraction

“Eat up before the food gets cold, I would rather be doing something productive than waste my time here” she said as she began to dig in her food, Miguel ate silently his heart bleeding out.

“Ray even in death stands to be the most stupid man I have ever met, You can barely read and yet she gave you everything not considering my son whom worked along side him all those years, I wish I could see him one last time and kick some senses into him” the woman was visibly angry, Miguel just ate his food without any response, he knew if he asked any more questions, he would break down, all this was too much for him,

“Am sorry” Miguel said after a while

“What's that?” His mother asked

“Am sorry I am here. Am sorry if am making you go through a hard time” he said, his mother only signed

“If you are really sorry then prove it” she said, Miguel looked at her and didn't miss the hopefullness in her eyes

“Prove it how?” He asked

“By giving everything my husband left for you to My son Leo” she said…
