"Insolent peasant. Show your respect!" The man shouted at Kirin, Kirin looked to Seth and back to the man. By now, a gathering of students had formed around them, it was a spectacle of nothing.

Murmurs erupted from the crowd, they all waited in anticipation, watching, how would the two new students handle this matter from the lapdogs of the noble. Kirin observed them all, he looked at Seth, they both shrugged at each other.

"Why..." Kirin turned his attention back to the four men who stood before him.

"Why?" The spearman of the noble stopped himself, he seemed rather confused at the confrontation.

"Yeah, why do I have to greet anyone? Master Shen has greeted us and given us orders to resume our duties on the morrow. We see no reason to engage your request" Kirin said calmly.

Silence.

No one moved, not a single breath could be heard except for Kirin's and Seth's. The silence was deafening, louder than it had any right to be.

Suddenly the four men laughed as hard as they could, they th

The eel lunged at him. He was stunned for a moment. But reacted in time and dodged left, but the eel quickly followed snapping at him with insanely sharp teeth...Kirin drew his blade and levelled it between him and the beast. He looked at the odd-looking creature. He had four legs like that of a Komodo dragon, although its belly was low to the ground but that didn't bother it because of the scales covering its skin. The eyes were a deep yellow with black pupils, the body itself was slithery like that of a snake but more adept at swimming than walking on land. And to top it off. It had a deadly set of claws and those claws with sharpened teeth were directly aimed at Kirin. He shivered visibly, thinking why hadn't it ripped off his arm when it dragged him into the water. But enough idle thoughts. The sun was setting low and it was time to kill the damnable beast. He readied himself and dashed forward. He clashed with the beast with such immense force that the ground under his feet cra

  • Chapter 60 The Walking Electric Eel.

Two hours had passed, and sure enough, Kirin had reached the outskirts of the closest forest. He was alone, unaccompanied by anyone, not that anyone would dare solo this mission. There was a reason why it had been left for quite a long time. Although Kirin didn't know that. The trees and grass all looked duller than they should have been. This made Kirin realise that there were dangerous animals around. He could see prints of some animals, he even heard them but didn't chase after them. He wasn't hungry yet and the sun just seemed to be dipping down to set.If he spent any longer than necessary, he would have to hunt and survive the night. But before anything, he wanted to make sure he could at least find the habit of the electric walking eel. He remembered that he had read from the notice board.Sure enough, it had to be in an aquatic environment. And so he decided to search, looking for signs of flowing water.Searching the vast expanse of the forest wasn't easy in the slightest. Fi

Kirin walked outside the training hall, the sun shone brightly on his pale face. He looked around, realizing that he knew nowhere around the Academy. He sought to ask some students for directions but got scornful looks from some well dressed students. He ignored them and began walking to the centre of the Academy, he decided he would find his way from there. It took him some minutes but he eventually found himself at the center of the Academy. It seemed more like a wide empty space in the middle of several buildings all in a circle. At the very centre of the space, there was a huge wooden board with papers glued and littered across the board. He approached the board carefully, then began reading the notices littered about.Sure enough there were other students, they did mind him and he didn't mind them either."Low level demon beasts, late stage energy gathering warriors" he whispered to himself. He looked at the details of the beats."Electric walking eel fish, fifty energy stones..

Kirin's heart thumped wildly in his chest, he sharply looked at Master Dan, unsure of what to say and how to respond. Master Dan suddenly got up and closed the doors to the training hall, but he left the rest of the windows open."Well? Are you going to say something?" Master Dan asked."Can I not?" Kirin sighed.Master Dan smiled darkly at Kirin and shook his head. "Look here kid, I don't know what you could have done to yourself to become such an oddity. But if the others find out..." He didn't finish his statement, letting his intentions linger. Kirin understood it all, sighed and stood up. He walked towards Master Dan, staring at him directly, not batting an eyelid.Kirin knew how sensitive this matter was, it was why he had hidden his source of cultivation from everyone else, why he hadn't explained in detail how he had come to create the dual cores that he currently possessed. He had feared that he had committed a taboo. He feared his complete condemnation from the world of cu

Master Dan seemed exceedingly shocked. In all his years of being alive, he had never met a single person who was immune to any element. In fact, it was an absolute flaw in his thoughts. It was like saying that one did not need to drink water to survive, he could live off sunlight like the plants do. The thought unnerved him. He looked at Kirin and shook his head."Explain yourself! How is this possible?" Master Dan demanded.Kirin thought about this, he remembered the reason very well. After the incident with the village, Seth had told him that he was possessed by the spirit of a higher being, by a God. And after this God had left his body, it seemed like the god had left some sort of inheritance, some sort of boon for him. The cracks all around his body glowed blue whenever he used his element. But he couldn't tell this to anyone, so far as he was concerned, only Seth knew about this and it needed to stay that way."I was born like this..." Kirin said hesitantly.Master Dan looked a

  • Chapter 55. The New Master.

Master Dan gazed at Kirin. "So you dare cultivate the lightning element. Such arrogance. Come!" He beckoned Kirin over.Kirin didn't move. Not alone. He looked at Seth who had set his blade on fire, fire was the element that Seth was most familiar with. Kirin followed suite, covering his blade in an aura of lightning. They both dashed forward. The edges of their blades were sharp and made even sharper because of the element infusion. As they attacked, Master Dan finally moved but not away from them, but towards them.It seemed like his goal was truly to test them, for he never really placed a finger on them, he simply weaved through their attacks and seamlessly.Kirin shot out streaks of lightning that never seemed to hit the target. Even mid air, Master Dan evaded all the attacks. Seth summoned several fire balls and flung them at him, even swung with his blade but no matter how close he got, his attack barely landed. This kept on for quite some time until the two boys were exhausted
