Half an hour later, the four of them entered the rented apartment.

The apartment was much more maintained and beautiful than the old cramped and run-down apartment where Mark lived with Celia.

Still, for Nadir, Sandro, and Briana, it felt like they were moving under a bridge!

"Look at this! Look at this!" Nadir kept complaining, "Darling, we need to find a solution to better our lives!"

"Relax, woman! One thing at a time." Sandro put the suitcases on the couch.

"How long has someone rented this apartment?" Nadir refused to sit on the second couch, "These covers look dusty. What do you say, son-in-law?"

Briana felt her face burning.

"Mom, you don't need to throw it in Mark's face that—"

"I'm just asking something that is his expertise!" Nadir smiled cruelly, thinking about taking out on Mark the frustration she was feeling.

After all, if it wasn't for the janitor, she wouldn't be in that apartment now!

Mark, however, didn't want to answer so as not to disrespect his mother-in-law.

Mark returned home that evening, the familiar silence of the master suite wrapping around him like a warm cloak. As he stepped inside, his gaze landed on Briana’s high heels carelessly kicked off beside the couch, and her handbag tossed onto the cushions. He smiled. She was likely in the shower or changing for dinner.Tonight was the night. His mission, long postponed, could no longer wait. He’d sworn he wouldn’t repeat the same mistake he made with Celia. That silence had cost him dearly. This time, there would be no hesitation. The only similarity between then and now was the object he held in his pocket — a sleek, elegant bracelet. It was the same model he once planned to give Celia as a wedding anniversary gift. Now, it would go to Briana, but for a different purpose altogether.Mark pulled the bracelet from his pocket and looked at it, its surface gleaming faintly in the soft bedroom light.“I hope you make the right choice, darling,” he murmured. From the closet, the soft thud o

  • Chapter 610 Nosso Lar

Still hesitant, Briana accepted it. She peered into the mug.Her point of view: the coffee was hot, dark, and strong — exactly the way she liked it.She took a small sip, then another. Just the familiar, bitter taste. No strange sensations. No warning signs.“Yeah,” she said, letting out a long sigh. “This morning’s been rough.”“Want to talk about it?” Luana asked gently.Briana exhaled again and nodded. “I visited Katrina. The lunatic blames me for getting caught in bed with Lawrence.”Luana raised an eyebrow. “Oh, right. Because you sent her there to give him her a—”“I shut that down immediately. I refused to entertain the conversation. Her logic doesn’t work in any world but her own.”“Crazy. Just crazy...”Relieved that she felt fine, that her drink was safe, and that the nightmare might finally be behind her, Briana settled into her chair and got to work, typing quickly and with new determination.******Althea strolled through the Vasconcelos Mansion gardens with a spring in h

Meanwhile, at the offices of Glamour, Mark stepped into his workspace and was immediately greeted by the aroma of fresh coffee. A new girl was serving a cup to Karl.Mark tensed for a moment, memories of Viviana flashing in his mind — but he quickly shook them off. It wasn’t fair to judge the new barista for the sins of her predecessor.“Mark!” Karl called out brightly. “How’ve you been? I thought you were at the police station.”Mark blinked. “Police station?”The barista smiled politely and poured him a fresh cup without being asked, clearly recognizing his importance.“Yes,” Karl went on. “You and Brie are still taking down Lawrence Sodré, aren’t you?”“Ah. Right,” Mark said, snapping back into the moment. “Well, Brie’s testimony will be key. We just got word that the District Attorney accepted the charges.”“Lawrence is toast,” Karl said with satisfaction. “What about Katrina?”Mark pursed his lips. The barista quietly rolled her cart away, sensing the conversation shift.“That gi

The door creaked open, and Nadir entered, catching wind of the conversation almost instantly.“Oh — am I interrupting something?”“Hello...” Roberto rose politely. “Mrs. Vasconcelos?”Sandro, still focused on the contract, gestured without looking up. “Darling, this is Roberto. He represents the anonymous donor.”Nadir smiled and shook the young man’s hand. “How are you, young man?”“Very well, thank you. I was just telling your husband what a pity it is that he isn’t the company’s CEO.”Nadir chuckled, a warm sound, careful not to distract Sandro from reading. “Things are changing, Roberto.”“Glad to hear it.”Sandro, satisfied, placed the papers back on the desk. “Alright, Roberto. I agree with everything. I’ll sign... quite literally.”“Fantastic. It’s been a pleasure doing business with you.”As he reached for a pen, Sandro glanced at the cover sheet. “I must confess, I’ve never heard of this company — Nosso Lar?”Roberto smiled, enigmatic. “As I mentioned, it’s new.”Though Nadir

At Vasconcelos mansion’s elegant living room, Briana sat with her grandmother, Althea. The mood was light and warm, the tension of old misunderstandings long forgotten. There was laughter in the air, a peace that had eluded them for too long.Althea, graceful and poised as ever, gestured to the seat across from her.“Sit with me, my dear,” she said, her voice rich with affection.“You look like a queen this morning, Grandma,” Briana replied, her words sincere rather than flattering.Althea let out a hearty laugh, delighted. “Thank you! So, tell me — what’s new in your world?”But Briana shook her head, smiling. “I came here to hear your news, not the other way around.”Althea's tone shifted gently. “I'm still worried about what happened to you, sweetheart, with that whole drugging incident.”A subtle tension returned to Briana’s shoulders. She couldn’t tell how much Althea truly knew.“Your father told me that Mr. Sodré tried to drug you — twice — and planned to kidnap you,” Althea we

At Vasconcelos Company, Claudia sat confidently in the CEO’s chair in Gilson’s office, legs crossed with the poise of someone who believed she belonged there.Across from her, Nadir leaned against the edge of the desk, a bemused smirk playing on her lips.“Comfortable?” Nadir asked.Claudia’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “Yes, as comfortable as sitting on my hot, virile husband's lap at three in the morning. You don't know what that's like, do you?”Like Briana, Nadir bit back a sharp retort — she wanted to mention that she’s used to ‘ride’ Sandro until five in the morning, often with him handcuffed to the bed. But she held her tongue.Like mother, like daughter.Nadir straightened up, her tone shifting into professional mode. “Let’s stick to business.”Claudia’s mood soured. “What business? Our dear mother-in-law wants to undo the one good thing we’ve got going — our last lifeline.”“Don’t be dramatic. Can’t we scout for another series with the same continuity potential as You Can’t
