"What's up?" Mark found it funny, "Don't you think you are capable of working at that company?"

Briana thought Mark was just joking with her and smiled, "Oh, you clown! Of course, I think I am qualified, but you're forgetting two points."

"Tell me." Mark sat on his bed.

"First, it's about that horrible place where I had a hard time... both of us did." Briana enumerated, extending her fingers, "Second, the guy who works there..."

Mark shook his head. "No, dear. Didn't I tell you earlier that that matter was resolved?"

Briana narrowed her eyes. "Mr. Curtis... Was he fired?"

"Exactly." Mark nodded.

"How is that possible? A man of his position... I thought you told me he was scolded, but... fired?" Briana could hardly believe it.

She wanted to sue Glamour and Anthony Curtis for all the disrespect she went through.

It turns out justice has been served!

Briana stared at Mark. She remembered that Mark did indeed mention something as they got into the car to go to the Vasconcelos Mansion.

Mark allowed himself to be interviewed in his study that morning, settling into the role with the same composure he used whenever he needed to protect Briana. Mary Ellen sat across from him, recorder in hand, her expression sharp with purpose.“How has your wife been handling the news, Manager Ferro?” she asked.‘Manager Ferro?’ The title echoed in his mind with faint surprise, but he kept his tone steady. “She’s shown courage in the face of all this pressure.”“And what does she think about the strike on the ‘Times of Glory’ set?”“She believes the safety of her staff needs to come first,” he replied.Mary Ellen narrowed her eyes, already knowing where she wanted the conversation to go. “Isn’t Karl Carvalho, the recording supervisor, engaged to your wife’s best friend?”“That’s correct,” Mark said coolly. “Their engagement party was held here.”“So we can assume,” she pressed, “that yesterday’s terrorist attack was a direct affront to you and your wife, right?”“Certainly.” His voice

Briana entered the Ferro House living room, flanked by her parents, who hovered over her as if she were still a fragile little girl instead of a grown woman carrying their first grandchild. They guided her straight to the sofa, fussing as though she might shatter at any moment.“There, little daughter,” Sandro said with satisfaction, “sit down and make yourself comfortable.”“Dad, Mom, that’s not necessary—”“It is necessary,” Nadir cut in firmly. “And I’m spending the entire day with you.”Julian happened to walk in at that moment and had to fight the urge to roll his eyes. The old woman’s tone made his stomach turn — was she really using her daughter as an excuse to hang around the house again, just to have more s*x with the staff?“Ah, Julian, there you are,” Sandro said, noticing him. “Thank you for preparing that tea for my daughter.”Julian straightened, managing to keep his composure. “Regis informed me that you were all quite... thrilled.”Nadir frowned. “And why didn’t you te

Sandro stood in the new baby’s nursery, utterly enchanted, his eyes shining as he took in the sight of the room that would soon belong to his first grandchild. The soft hues, the elegant lines, the understated perfection... it all left him a little speechless.Beside him, Briana smiled, her features calm again, the memory of the terrible nightmare that had haunted her now fading away like morning mist.Nadir’s smile, however, had an entirely different reason behind it.As she gazed at the room, she wasn’t thinking of the baby at all, but of the handsome construction worker she had entangled herself with the night before. A flicker of heat crossed her mind as she wondered how he was doing.“You must’ve paid the workers a nice little bonus, hmm?” she asked, her tone deceptively casual.“Of course, Mother,” Briana replied lightly, then added, “Mr. Fagundes actually texted, asking about the last worker who was here yesterday.”Nadir’s pulse quickened. She was ready to fabricate something

Mark emerged from the closet already dressed in his impeccably tailored Italian suit, his expression that of a man preparing to bring order to chaos — like a mafia boss ready to pacify his restless organization.Briana still sat on the edge of the bed, wrapped in her silk robe, absently caressing her belly.“Do you still think you’re dreaming?” he asked softly.“The dream felt too real,” she murmured. “Even the explosion.”Mark came closer and pressed a tender kiss to her forehead. “In your dream, our baby was already born. But reality, my love, is much kinder than that.”She sighed, running her hand over her stomach. “Everything is making me nervous, Mark. And now here you are, getting ready for work.”“Someone has to take care of business,” he replied, buttoning his cuffs.“I could declare a day off, just like Uncle Gilson did at Vasconcelos,” she suggested, half teasing, half serious.Mark’s lips curved slightly to the side, amused. “That won’t be necessary. You should go wash your

Mark froze for a moment, watching Briana still trembling even after waking from her nightmare. She was frantically searching the bed, her hands clawing at the sheets as if looking for something or someone. Then, in a voice shaking with terror, she screamed, “The bomb! The bomb! MY BABY!”“Briana!” Mark sat up at once, catching her by the shoulders. “Darling, calm down! It was just a nightmare.”Her eyes were glassy, her breath coming in short, ragged gasps. He pulled the blankets from Briana, realizing with alarm that he wasn’t wearing anything.Muttering a curse under his breath, he quickly threw the covers back over himself before anyone could burst in.“Did you dream there was a bomb here?” he asked, his tone gentle.“It was horrible,” she murmured, beginning to come back to herself. “I was in the baby’s room, holding our son, when I heard Regis shouting, saying there was a bomb in the house. I tried to escape, but... there was no time.”Her voice broke. Briana collapsed into tears

  • Chapter 917 Nightmare...

Thursday morning dawned over Braspolis beneath a heavy, uncertain sky. From above, the city looked still, its towers and rooftops softened by the gray light that hinted at coming rain.At Ferro House, the gardens were already alive with motion. The front lawn glistened faintly with dew as gardeners moved methodically through their work, trimming, sweeping, and watering.Around the pool, Domitila (the new maid who had replaced Florentina) was sweeping away fallen leaves. She paused mid-motion, gazing up at the balcony of the master suite.A hand went to her ear as she listened to the faint buzz of her earpiece.“All quiet for now,” she murmured.Inside the suite, Mark lay sprawled across the bed like a teenager who had collapsed after a night of endless celebration. He slept face down, one arm dangling off the side, the picture of a carefree adolescent rather than the war hero he was known to be.The heat from the previous night had driven him to discard the sheets entirely, leaving Br
