The next day. Adrian wasted no time and headed to HR at Glamour to resign.

The HR manager was scratching his ears, trying to understand what was happening.

“Did I hear that right? You’re resigning?”

“Cut the theatrics, it’s not like you’re going to miss me that much!” Adrian grumbled, impatiently. “I just want to get out of here. Glamour isn’t the same company since you allowed a slum dude to act as a manager.”

“Are you so prejudiced about Mark Ferro rising from janitor to manager that you prefer to be unemployed?” Gene raised an eyebrow.

“I’m not going to be unemployed. I received a better offer at a company that only hires qualified people.” Adrian smirked.

“Adrian, are you really going to use that flimsy argument?” Gene shook his head. “Why don’t you just tell me the real reason for resigning?”

“I already did. I don’t want to work at this company anymore. What’s wrong, are we still in a slavery regime?” Adrian raised his chin defiantly.

Gene pursed his lips. This guy is up

The lights in the suite were dim, save for the soft glow of the bedside lamps. Nadir lay on her side, draped in a delicate nightgown, her expression frozen in astonishment.Sandro had just finished recounting the unbelievable tale of how Mark and Briana had come to know one another — a story tangled in deceit, danger, and unexpected passion.“So... that’s how they met...” Nadir murmured, struggling to process it all.“I don’t blame Mark for a second,” Sandro replied, his voice low and firm. “This was all Anthony Curtis’s fault. That man deserved what he got — God forgive me — but he was better off gone.”“Our daughter has endured so many trials,” Nadir whispered, her heart aching. “And we... we didn’t help her at all.”Sandro’s gaze grew distant, regret sharpening the lines around his eyes. “No wonder she didn’t tell us the truth. She had barely set foot inside the mansion and we attacked her with criticism and disdain. And James and Katrina with that ridiculous bet...”“She can’t fac

  • Chapter 588 Some Women Have No Regard for Their Own Dignity

The man in gray’s car screeched to a sudden halt, tires screaming as it stopped behind Briana's parked vehicle at the entrance of the Sodré Mansion. The man in gray, who had leapt from the driver side, recognized the car instantly."That's Lady Ferro's car!" he exclaimed, and without hesitation, rushed toward the front door. But before he could reach for the handle, it swung open. Briana stepped out in a daze, her face pale, eyes wide with shock. She stumbled straight into the man, who caught her just in time.“Mrs. Ferro! Thank God! What are you doing here?” he asked, steadying her.She blinked, still shaken. “I... I’m sorry, who are you?”“With the compliments of Alan Campos Rocha,” he said smoothly. “You need to leave this place immediately.”Without waiting for her response, he gently but firmly guided her toward her car.“Drive. I’ll follow and make sure you arrive safely at home.”“You know my husband?” she asked, uncertain.“I know Mr. Campos Rocha. He knows your husband. I’m j

  • Chapter 587 Don’t Think About My Cousin

“I don’t think that’s a good—” Mark began, but Claudia had already seized the phone.“Mark,” she said, her voice laced with disdain, “do you even know what you’re doing? It’s bad enough you’re still breathing when no one wants you to be. But now you have the audacity to call this sacred residence?”“I don’t think you understand what ‘sacred’ means,” Mark replied coolly. She scoffed, masking her ignorance. “And you do? Do they even have dictionaries in the slum you crawled out of?”“I only called to ask where my wife was,” he said, holding onto civility with gritted teeth.“Don’t insult my niece by calling her your wife. Jeez, if Briana were my daughter—”Mark cut her off, his voice sharp with finality. “Then I thank the heavens every day that she’s not.”Without another word, he hung up.He didn’t have time for petty arguments. Panic churned in his gut as he called Vargas again, praying the man would answer quickly.Far across town, in the bustling corridors of General Hospital in Bra

  • Chapter 586 Briana to the Rescue

Briana entered her father’s suite and found him sprawled out on the bed, the covers drawn up only to his waist. As she approached, she assumed he must at least be wearing underwear, though Sandro, slightly embarrassed, silently hoped she wouldn’t notice that he wasn’t wearing anything at all beneath the sheets.“Dad, you really do look worn out. You need to rest more,” she said softly.Sandro let out a nervous chuckle. “Don’t worry about this old man, sweetheart.”“I have to worry. Uncle Gilson’s in the hospital, and you’re older than he is.”“He’s going to pull through,” he said, brushing it off.“But will he pull out of the mess we’re all in?” she asked, her tone shifting to something firmer, more businesslike.Sandro adjusted his position against the pillows, sensing the weight of the conversation. “This mess isn’t going to touch you, Briana.”“I know I’m with Glamour, but I still feel responsible. I spoke with Grandma Althea, and she rekindled the Vasconcelos fire in my blood.”Sa

  • Chapter 585 A God of War

Something stirred in Briana — more than duty, more than obligation. It was pride. Her grandfather’s legacy ran through her veins, and suddenly, the call to defend it was louder than her doubts.“I only wish I knew who actually owns Glamour,” she muttered, half to herself. “We’ve never seen the guy. He’s never once shown his face. I just hope he doesn’t turn out to be a problem... or accuse me of violating some exclusivity clause.”“Talk to Mark first,” Nadir advised, “then give us your answer.”“You already have it,” Briana said, standing. Her voice had settled into steel. “But first, I have two places to go.”The other women glanced at each other in surprise. Two places?Briana was already walking toward the door when she threw her answer over her shoulder. “I’m going to the Sodré Mansion to get Katrina out of there. She’s probably having dinner with Lawrence... or worse.”******Outside the towering Sodré Mansion...The lights in the master suite still burned behind thick curtains.

Althea turned back to her granddaughter, her tone thoughtful. “Briana, you know Lawrence Sodré better than anyone. You were classmates in college. That’s why I thought he would be a suitable match.”“Yes, Grandma,” Briana answered with a bittersweet smile. “He’s from a good family, runs his own bank, is highly respected. And yes... he’s handsome, fit, and very attractive. He posts some... steamy photos online that drive women wild. But what my father and Mark have said about him — it makes sense.”Nadir’s voice trembled slightly. “You really believe he was so obsessed with you that he tried to drug and kidnap you to make you his?”“I do,” Briana said without hesitation. “He showed up out of nowhere when I was already being held captive, claiming he had received an anonymous tip from that disgusting Anthony Curtis. He wanted to play the hero, hoping I’d fall for him and leave Mark.”Althea’s face twisted with revulsion. “How vile! He must have heard about my family-severance contract a
