At Red Light, James’s phone rang. He didn’t recognize the number and squinted at the device.

Adrian asked, “What’s going on, partner?”

“An unknown number. Should I answer it?”

“What if it’s a prank or a scam? Better not. I never answer.” Adrian shook his head.

Feeling important enough for criminals to attempt a financial scam, James didn’t answer, thinking of his safety.

But the same number that rang until it stopped sent a text message next.

“What the hell! I’m going to block this number. These scammers don’t give up easily!”

James tapped on his phone screen to block the number.

However, the start of the message left him stunned.

“It’s from the police!”

James opened the message and read aloud, “James Ross: we urgently need to talk about your wife, Katrina Ross, who is currently detained at the Braspolis police station for contempt of authority.”

“But that’s absurd! If this message has any link, don’t click on it, James!” Adrian exclaimed, startled.

Karl finished his lunch and wandered into the living room in nothing but quick-dry shorts, the picture of lazy ease on his day off.He grabbed the remote, flicked the television on, and scrolled until a news channel settled into his living room like an unwelcome guest. The anchor, suit pressed and expression trained to bland neutrality, reported in that measured, anxious cadence. “So far, there is no concrete information about who might be behind the attacks in Braspolis,” the man intoned, “The population remains terrified, and many are avoiding going out on the streets by car, congesting public transportation options.”The screen filled with images of a city in panic: buses overflowing at the doors as desperate passengers squeezed in; subway stations a heaving sea of heads; people fighting for taxis with elbows and shoves; rideshare drivers at their wits’ end, exhausted and swamped by demand.Karl watched, his face closing into a shadow of suspicion. The images — sardined commuters,

Mark and Gene pushed open the door of Briana’s office, stepping into a scene that was almost comical in its imbalance.Christopher stood tense and irritated, while Luana was doubled over with laughter, her eyes wet with tears.“Care to share the joke?” Gene asked, one brow raised.Through her laughter, Luana managed to speak. “Mark, Gene… Young Master Vasconcelos came here to accuse Karl of planting the bomb in his car! Ha! Ha! Ha!” She wiped her eyes, unable to contain herself.Christopher’s scowl deepened. “Instead of laughing, perhaps you could bring me the culprit so I can interrogate him.”Mark crossed his arms calmly. “Chris, Karl’s protected in his apartment. The entire ‘Times of Glory’ crew has halted filming because of the attacks.”“Good,” Christopher replied coldly. “Then give me the address of his apartment.”The laughter died on Luana’s lips. She stiffened instantly. “Hey! Nobody is going to bother my fiancé!”“Why so afraid, Luana?” Christopher shot back, his tone burnin

Althea leaned back on her sofa with Dalila’s help, settling into her usual morning routine. The remote control lay close at hand, ready to summon her beloved dramas and Turkish series, an indulgence she shared with Briana and Nadir. But before pleasure came duty.On the coffee table rested a thick folder: Mark’s infamous list, complete with the names and photographs of the young women he deemed suitable to marry Christopher.Dalila’s eyes flicked toward it, and she felt a pang of quiet insecurity. Those elegant faces, those pedigreed names... she could never belong to that world.“Dalila,” Althea said, her tone commanding yet calm, “call my grandson. We need to discuss that list.”Dalila’s lips parted in distress. “Old Madam Vasconcelos, I’m terribly sorry… Young Master Christopher insisted on going to work.”“He left?” Althea’s sharp voice sliced through the air. “He’s in mortal danger!”“I tried to persuade him, Madam, truly... but I didn’t dare press further,” Dalila confessed.Alt

Karl sat shirtless at the kitchen table, finishing his simple breakfast while keeping a worried eye on Luana. His fiancée, immaculate as ever, was dressed in a tailored gray suit, her hair styled with professional precision. Her makeup was discreet yet flawless, and the sharp rhythm of her high heels against the tiles echoed confidence and authority.“Sweetheart, are you really serious about this?” he asked, his brow furrowed. She looked at him with calm amusement. “About what, darling?”“You’re going to work after what happened?”“Brie is certainly staying home. Someone has to represent her,” she replied, taking a sip of her coffee as if it were the most natural thing in the world.“And what if your car is the next one?” His voice carried genuine alarm.Luana smiled tenderly and sat down across from him, her eyes full of warmth. “Thank you for worrying about me, love. But I’m more worried about you.”“Me?” Karl blinked, caught off guard. She nodded, her tone light but firm. “It’s you

Katrina entered the dining room just as her family was finishing breakfast.“I really need to schedule my gym session,” Claudia said, delicately dabbing the corners of her lips with a napkin. “After such a generous breakfast, I must’ve gained at least a few pounds.”Gilson smiled at her from across the table. “You’re as beautiful as ever, my dear.”“That’s love for you,” Sandro quipped, his tone dry.Althea nodded approvingly, but Claudia’s eyes flashed toward Sandro. She understood perfectly what he meant. In his mind, Gilson’s compliment was motivated purely by affection, not accuracy. In other words, Claudia was gaining weight, and everyone knew it.Before the familiar morning quarrel could ignite again, Katrina strode in with a purposeful air. “Grandma, I need to talk to you right now. Morning, everyone.”Claudia turned at once. “Darling, is there a problem with the baby’s nursery?”“No,” Katrina said, her voice tight. “There’s a problem with Mark’s list!”Althea exhaled impatient

The meeting held on the Center Operations carried on under the heavy weight of expectation. The photograph still lay in the center of the table, the black feather and the burning car staring back at them like ghosts from the past. Everton, the youngest of them, frowned in confusion.“What does the feather mean?” he asked.Mark leaned back slightly, his eyes fixed on the image. “That feather was once the symbol of someone we believed to be dead.”Susana’s brows arched. “Are you suggesting we were wrong?”Regis exhaled sharply. “Wasn’t he the one who led that separatist revolt in northern Aurelia? The one that gave us endless trouble?”Mark took his seat at the head of the table, his expression dark as stone. “The very same. Lucas Drakov.”“Officially declared dead in combat,” Susana murmured.“Then this might be the work of someone sympathetic to him,” Vargas said.“It’s best we verify if there’s been any renewed rebel activity,” Mark replied.Linda straightened her posture. “We’ve bee
