A different conversation was unfolding in Mark’s study.

Mark sat behind his heavy desk, still wearing the robe from earlier in the evening loosely tied. Regis and Vargas stood before him, doing their best to remain professional and avoid accidentally glimpsing anything too personal that should be reserved for Briana’s eyes only.

From the window, Regis caught the faint sound of splashing water — Julian swimming in the pool like he hadn’t a care in the world.

“Julian swims like a fish,” Vargas remarked with a chuckle.

“Or like he’s training for the Olympic trials,” Regis added, pulling the curtain closed with a grimace.

The room quieted as attention returned to Lord Ferro.

“Well then,” Mark said, his tone measured, “here’s my next move.”

The men leaned in, curious.

“We’re going to invest in the Vasconcelos Company.”

Both Regis and Vargas burst out in a stifled ‘PFFF,’ quickly covering their mouths to suppress laughter. The idea sounded so outrageous it caught them off guard.

Once seated, Celia noticed the contrast between their plates. His was dominated by greens, vegetables, and fruit, while hers was laden with the heavier delights she had dared to keep.“Let’s begin,” Gilson said smoothly. “Both with the meal — and the interview.”Celia cleared her throat, determined to hold her composure. “Mr. Vasconcelos, how have you been since your heart attack?”His features softened at her concern. “Much better, thank you, Miss Soares. May I call you Celia?”Her smile brightened, gentle but edged with playfulness. “You’ll be my employer. You may call me whatever you wish.”A nervous grin flickered across Gilson’s lips as he murmured his thanks. It was fortunate, he thought privately, that he was seated — fortunate that the tablecloth hid the sudden, irrepressible stir of desire beneath his elegant suit.******Elsewhere, in the same restaurant where many from the Glamour offices often lunched, Briana sat at a table across from her husband. Jake strode down the corridor with a thunderous expression, his jaw set as if he were preparing for battle.Karl had remained behind, giving Jake the opportunity to confront Mark alone.Employees who crossed his path quickly lowered their heads, unwilling to engage with the fury etched across his face. Without hesitation, he pushed through the door of Mark Ferro’s office and disappeared inside.Moments later, Briana walked the same corridor, her heart alight with joy at the thought of preparing the baby’s room. She was on her way to share the news with her husband, already imagining how their lunch together would be colored with happy plans. Her hand reached for the brass handle of the office door when a voice — sharp, angry, and almost venomous — rang out from within.“You promised you would help us, Manager Ferro!” Jake’s tone cracked through the air like a whip.Briana froze, startled. Instead of entering, she pressed her back against the doorframe, her pulse quickening. She remain

  • Chapter 800 A Job Interview Turned Into a Lunch

Karl’s fury reached its peak when Jake hurled the script in his face. It didn’t hurt, of course, but the gesture carried all the venom and disrespect the actor harbored toward the supervisor of ‘Times of Glory’.“Do you want to be fired, or are you begging for dismissal with cause?” Karl asked, his tone sharp, almost menacing.“You don’t have the power for that!” Jake shot back, defiant.Karl narrowed his eyes. “Do you really want to test your luck?”The younger man bent to gather the scattered pages, his hands trembling with indignation. “This is absurd! Celia was forced out for reasons that had nothing to do with the company, and now you want to pull the same stunt with me?”“You’re not indispensable to Glamour,” Karl replied coldly. “Your character can die in ‘Times of Glory,’ or we can replace you in the blink of an eye.”Jake sneered. “Recasting actors? That’s so… soap opera.”Karl’s expression darkened. “Show some respect for the series you work on. You see? You’ve just handed m

“If you are intent on starting a war before she even sets foot inside the building,” Gilson muttered, “I hardly know how to respond. Sandro will soon be buzzing demands in my ear, and I, lately, have been making every effort to avoid unnecessary stress.”Claudia groaned and dragged her hands down her face in frustration. “Oh, so now you’ll use your heart condition as an excuse to shirk your duty as CEO?”“And what exactly is that duty, according to you?”“To keep that tramp from reintegrating herself into this company, and—”She was cut short by the sharp ring of Gilson’s desk phone. The piercing sound shattered the air like a gavel. Relieved by the interruption, Gilson snatched the receiver with visible eagerness, as if even the most tedious business call were preferable to his wife’s tirade.“Presidency,” he said curtly.“Hello, CEO Vasconcelos,” came the receptionist’s voice on the line. “Miss Celia Soares is here in the lobby. She says she has a job interview scheduled.”“Send her
