The tension became hot and it felt like air was sucked out of their lungs leaving them dry and vulnerable. That should be the time when they should bow their heads and beg for forgiveness, but the men didn’t look like they would.

Though they were shocked by his words, there was no trace of fear radiating off them. It felt like they had gradually made up their minds to accept death.

Noticing this, Whitman was quite stunned. He knew their loyalty was as tough as a rock, but in the face of death, anyone was supposed to shiver.

Smiling, he pulled out a gun and cracked it, then pointed it at one of them.

“Swear loyalty to me and I will spare your life.” He said instead as the thought of using them against Harrison would seem befitting to him.

“Tch!”

All the men spat at his face at once as though they were all in sync with each other. Their eyes were stern as they held nothing but disgust. If not for the fact that they were being tied, they would have lunged at him by now.
