Later in the afternoon, Mirel and I drove down to the hospital where Nora was admitted. The nurse told us she was ready to receive visitors, so we went in. Mirel was a little tensed as she looked at me. I gave her a reassuring smile then we walked in. Nora was sitting on her bed reading a book, her face a little pale from the amount of blood she had lost during the abortion. Nora looked up from the book and as her eyes met with Mirel's, her face contorted into a frown.
'What are you doing here?' Nora asked icily.
'Um... um...'
'Nora, Mirel is here to apologize for what she did.' I interjected, saving Mirel from her lack of words.
'You're Annette right? I've heard... Wonderful things about you.'
Mirel's naturally pale face turned crimson and she lowered her eyes.
'O M G.it's almost evening for your date with blonde!' Dara half-dragged into me to my room as quickly as the words stumbled out of her mouth.Slightly startled, I jerkily followed her, with her rambling on about my hair, out fit, and what not. She rummaged through my closet, trying to find a 'perfect' outfit for my date.Sighing, I walked over to Dara as she frantically continued her search.'Halt Dara, It's not even a date! And no. You're not going to pick my outfit because I'm going like this.' I pointed towards my yellow tank top with Pink flower patterned shorts.Dara's mouth flew open as she gazed at me in horror like I just grew horns.Rolling my eyes, I walked past her to grab my white sneakers and ripped Jean jacket. I tied my hair into a low pony tail, brushing my bangs over to
I stepped into my apartment and was greeted with silence except the gentle humming from the air conditioner.'Mirel isn't home yet?' I muttered with a frown.Getting into my room, I tossed my bag and sneakers aside and shrugged off my jacket then stepped into the bathroom for a quick shower.Dressed in yellow satin night wear, I strolled next door to Tee's room. I walked in unannounced and Tee let out a girly shrill.'AHHHHH!' He quickly dragged his pyjama bottoms up, quickly putting on the his shirt as well. 'What if I was totally unclad, young lady?!'I chuckled, navigating past him to his fridge and grabbing a box of frozen pizza.'Well, you're not. Besides, who gets dressed in their living room?' I sauntered past him to take a seat on the sofa.
After lunch, the girls and I hurried back to the workshop building for the next training session. The instructor walked in few minutes after I got in. Sighing, I groggily dragged myself towards the front to carry out the row call. The instructor stammered on with his heavy Italian accent about simple hand tools and I scoffed.'Why are we doing this again? ' I whispered to Allen.'Well, it's always good to start from the basics', Allen shrugged. To keep myself from falling over out of drowsiness caused by boredom, I started sketching on Allen's hands which was on the workbench, adding a string of tattoos on them. I chuckled when I was done and the instructor cleared his throat.'Young lady, do you mind enlightening us on the
It's been over a week since I started the summer training and ever since, Tee has been my alarm clock.'Arise and shine!' Tee's familiar voice rang in my ears. His morning breath fanned my face as my drowsy eyelids fluttered open, My sight was greeted with Tee's signature grin as he hovered over me. I shoved him to the side which sent him rolling down to the floor.'Ouuuu!' He groaned, reeling in pain as he landed with his back on the floor.'Take that, you blasted sleep ruiner! ' I seethed, stomping into the bathroom.'Good morning to you too.' Tee mumbled behind me as he limped out of my room and shut the door behind him with a slam.I eased myself and quickly showered, mentally preparing for that day.We had building practice, which basically meant we'll be doing the concrete and block making stuffs. The thought alone was tiring as I half-dragged myself out of the shower into my
'Honey you are a rockUpon which I standAnd I come here to talkI hope you understandThat green eyesYeah the spotlight, shines upon youAnd how could anybody deny youI came here with a loadAnd it feels so much lighterNow I met youAnd honey you should knowThat I could never go on without youGreen eyes-'Coldplay's green eyes blared through my headset as I trudged on to school. The morning sun shone through bright clouds, lighting up the azure sky, a nice change from the obsidian sky after a rainy night. It was a perfect day... Well...not until a certain white convertible out of no where, sped past me, splashing murky water on me.'HEY!!!' I yelled as I stomped my right foot in exasperation, causing my headset to slide down, hanging on my neck.Familiar cackles rang through the air along with Spanish expletives.
On getting to the workshop, I spotted Allen scribbling on his log book.I kept my distance, knowing he was probably still mad at me.I stuffed my hands into the pockets of my workshop coat, letting my eyes scan the workshop.Heavy machines were mounted at different sections of the workshop. Metal chips were seen scattered about and oil stains spotted the floor.I felt like I was being watched, until my eyes locked with a pair of familiar azure eyes. Allen Briggs'.I turned away quickly, the uneasy feeling still swimming in the pit of my stomach. I wasn't ready to face him yet.I still felt bad about what happened earlier today.I was lost in my thoughts until a familiar tug pulled on my lab coat.'Hey Annie!' Amber chirped.'Hey Amber' I flashed her a weak smile.'You okay?' She asked, squinting her eyes in scrutiny, causing her glasses to slip down her nose a little.
Should I wear this yellow sundress with brown flower patterns or this brown sundress with yellow floral patterns?' Dara asked, holding up two dresses in front of me over face time. I rolled my eyes as she looked away then switched to faux thought as she glowered at me with her dark orbs.'Yellow would look amazing on you, you know. Sort of compliments your dark skin tone.' I finally said, after few minutes of genuine contemplation.'But brown sort of brings out my brown eyes.' Dara chipped in, staring admiringly at her eyes through a hand mirror.'Dara, for the umpteenth time. Your eyes are rich black.' I rolled my eyes again.'Of course not!' She whined, slumping on her bed. ' They're just a reeeeally dark shade of brown. Like dark chocolate.' She stared off dreamily.Okay, with Dara, you can never argue to an end, except you want to argue for eternity.'Alright Dara. I agree with
I felt my cheeks heat up as he walked past me as if he didn't just cause mayhem, probably world war 3 inside me as my insides melted into purée.I noticed a smirk on his face as he walked past me towards the workshop building. The nerve of him!Snapping out of his winknopism, which I am fully aware is not a real word, I scurried to the lecture theatre. As I entered.I spotted Allen holding a bundle of cardboards on one hand and piles of log books on the other.I walked up to him, taking the log books from his hands.'Hi.' I muttered as I collected the log books'Good morning princess. Ah, thank you! What would I do without you?!' He gushed, his dimples on display as a toothy smile splayed on his lips.I chuckled at his antics and chimed in. 'You'd be lost in the dark, dark corners, searching for hope.'Allen laughed softly as I joined him to collect the assignments from the g
