Trevor looked at him in disbelief. What the hell was he saying?

"Daniel, what the fuck are you talking about? You think this is a one-dollar f*e?" Trevor paused. He looked at Daniel's eyes and maintained eye contact before he continued. “This is a hundred million. A hundred-million-dollar thing. Where do you think you can get the money, huh? Answer me!!" He ran his hand through his hair. "Do not annoy me anymore as it is."

Daniel didn’t flinch. He met Trevor’s furious gaze without a hint of fear.

“I already told you,” he said quietly but firmly, “I’ll pay. I’ll take care of it.”

Trevor’s eyes widened, his mouth opening and closing as if searching for words that wouldn’t come. “You… you’ll pay? You? Do you even know what you’re saying? A hundred million! Do you think you can just pull that out of thin air?”

Daniel’s gaze didn’t waver. He leaned slightly closer and “I can. And I will. Your mother deserves to live, Trevor. That’s all that matters right now.”

Daniel said with all sin

Sophie, upon seeing that her husband Daniel was being bullied and mocked, stepped forward, closer to Margaret, and defended, "Mum! Please. Don't speak to Daniel like that. He is just trying to help."Margaret exhaled and stared into Sophie’s eyes, but all she found was pure determination. She kept her gaze on her and asked carefully, “Are you sure that you are ready to represent the Carringtons? Are you sure your projects, your proposals, will be impeccable?”The room held its breath.Trevor leaned forward, eager to hear Sophie fail.Daniel squeezed Sophie’s hand gently, though she didn’t seem to need the reassurance—her face was carved in resolve.“Yes, Mum,” Sophie said, her voice steady, unwavering. “I am sure.”Margaret’s eyes narrowed a fraction. “Do you understand what impeccable means in this context?” she asked. “The Alisters don’t accept mediocrity. They don’t forgive mistakes. One flaw in your proposal, and this entire partnership collapses. Do you understand what you are pu

A small smile appeared at the corner of Daniel’s mouth. He had turned to see Sophie offer to take the deal, and that had brightened his day. She had always been a brave and intelligent girl, and judging so, it wasn't hard to work along with her. Meanwhile, Margaret, upon seeing Sophie volunteering to offer, burst into laughter. How could fragile Sophie take on the role of representing them with the Alisters? She was brave, but Margaret couldn’t help thinking that she was stupid. "Sophie, do you hear yourself? You..." she said, pointing at Sophie dramatically. "You want to take on the role of representing the Carringtons? Why? Do you think this is a simple read-and-send email?" she said, feeling frustrated. "You are going to prepare big projects, Sophie! And they have to be more than perfect. Can you do that? I don't want any failures. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." Daniel tightened his jaw in annoyance at what Margaret was saying. She was about to jeopardize her plans

The room fell into a slow, stunned silence. Everyone turned tgeir atrention towards the sleek black envelope Sophie blinked feeling all confused. “The Alisters? you mean the great Alisters? How and why would they send us anything?" Daniel walked past her, “I have no idea Sophie. Maybe you might try opening it." Margaret, who had been quiet all along, raised a hand weakly to silence everyone. Her voice was soft “If there is anyone who should open it,” she said, her gaze sweeping across the room, “then it should be Me. I am the the head of this family.” There was a spread of silence in the whole room. Margret slowly gestured to Sophie to bring the Alister’s envelope to her, which Sophie obeyed without hesitation. She slowly reached out and took the envelope from Sophie, her fingers trembled slightly. Everyone watched her. No one could breathed. Margaret’s thumb brushed over the golden emblem stamped at the center. The Alisters’ crest. A symbol so powerful it made even

Daniel smiled as the idea settled fully. Ever since he married Sophie, she had been nothing but supportive — unwavering, steady, always standing beside him even when the world turned its back. If there was anyone he trusted enough to elevate… anyone deserving of an opportunity this powerful… It was Sophie. His wife. And if there was one person more deserving of rising to the top of building an empire even greater than the Carringtons it was her. He knew exactly which company he would choose, and he was going to offer his wife one sweet deal. “Marcus,” Daniel called, his voice low but steady. “I want you to put the Carrington Industries under that list.” There was a sharp pause on the other end of the line. “Sir… are you sure you want to include the Carringtons?" he asked in disbelief. He knew how the Carringtons had always looked down on his boss, and including their name on the list isn't something Marcus had expected from Daniel. "Yes! You heard me right. I want you to inc

Daniel stared at the screen for a moment, his gaze moved from Trevor to the caller ID again. Of course Trevor noticed , he was always the loudest, most intrusive, most insecure person in the room. “Who’s calling you, Daniel?” Trevor snapped, with annoynace dripping from every word. “As if your phone ringing right now is more important than what’s happening here.” Daniel didn’t dignify him with an answer. He just kept quiet. He simply looked at him again for a single, clipped second, it was flat, blank and uninterested. Then his eyes shifted to Sophie and in acknowledgment, he said, “Excuse me, Sophie,” he said quietly. “I need to take this call.” Sophie nodded softly. “Go.” Trevor scoffed loudly as soon as Daniel turned to take his leave. “Unbelievable. At a time like this?” Daniel didn’t turn around. He didn’t even spare him a glance. He stepped out of the hospital room and closed the door behind him, letting the latch click softly into place. The hallway was colder

Daniel stared at Trevor in disbelief. Of course—he was still that ungrateful bastard. No matter what anyone did for him, he always remained a b*tch.Daniel’s voice came out calm. Too calm. Calm enough to wipe the smirk right off Trevor’s face.“Trevor,” Daniel said, his eyes locked on him, “I just paid a hundred million dollars for your mother’s surgery… and that still makes me a loser?”The corner of Daniel’s lips twitched—nothing close to a smile. Just disbelief. And disgust.“If helping your family makes me a loser…” he leaned forward slightly, voice dropping, “…then I’m very curious what that makes you.”Trevor blinked, irritated at what Daniel was saying“An ungrateful person?” Daniel asked softly. “No. That’s too kind. That’s an understatement. It makes you someone who can’t appreciate a miracle handed to him on a silver platter. Someone who insults a man while standing on money he didn’t earn. You’re not just ungrateful—you’re a pathetic bastard.”Trevor’s fists trembled. His f
