17. Father's death
The floor felt cold and the scent of kerosene lingered in the atmosphere. Kevin opened his eyes and stood up to take a look around. He was in a small room with only one wooden door. The walls were brown, bare and had lots of cracks on them. The floor was made out of concrete which explains why it was cold.

He traced the smell of the kerosene and saw that it was coming from a lantern on a small wooden table. Four old brown couches surrounded the table. The lantern was the only thing providing light as it was dark outside.

Someone was sitting on one of the couches wearing a black gown. Kevin walked closer to the person.

He contemplated before saying. "Hello."

His voice echoed in the room but it seems the person couldn't hear because she didn't look up. Kevin went closer and discovered it was a woman. Due to the dim light, he couldn't see her face clearly but she looked familiar. She held a sleeping baby wrapped in a shawl on her arm.
