The lady in the black dress crossed her arms, still delaying Ryan from moving towards the gate. Her perfectly shaped brows raised in amusement a she watched Ryan more closely, her lips curled into a knowing smirk as her eyes slowly traveled from the top of Ryan’s head down to his shoes.

"Mr. William," she said, this time with a little sarcasm in her voice, “let me be blunt. If you don’t have the pass card, you’re wasting your time here, and I am telling you the absolute truth. This isn’t the kind of party you crash, the people who are here were strictly invited by Lord Ryder.”

Ryan stared at her calmly but on the inside he was a bit nervous and quiet irritated. “I don’t need a pass card to know I’m supposed to be here. What other form of invitation do I need if Lord Ryder himself gave me an invitation?”

She laughed softly, and it sounded too soft to be friendly, there was something strange about how she picked interest in Ryan. “Oh, you poor thing. That’s exactly what someone not on

Ryan stood frozen on the cracked pavement as the words echoed in his head. A fire. That was all the man had said at first. A fire that burned everything. He blinked hard, struggling to process what the man had just said, then leaned forward as he spoke.“A fire?” Ryan repeated, his tone half disbelieving, half pleading for the man to take it back. “What do you mean, a fire? What are you talking about?”The man, with greying hair and deep lines etched into his face, shifted uneasily where he sat on the bench. He scratched the back of his neck and gave a helpless shrug.“Years ago,” he said slowly, as if replaying the memory in his head. “There was a fire in that block. Burned down a few shops… the computer place included. Everything gone. Records, furniture, the whole lot. Nothing left but ashes.”Ryan’s brows knitted together, his fists clenching at his sides. “But… but that shop… that shop had my receipt. The record of the laptop I bought there. Are you saying… it’s all gone? Complet

Ryan gripped the steering wheel tightly as he turned into a neighborhood that felt both familiar and strange at the same time. The streets stretched before him, wide and busy, yet his chest ached trying to search his memory. He hadn’t been here in years, not since the days when money was tight and dreams were still just that — dreams. Back then, this street had been full of little shops, cramped stores, noisy vendors. Now, glassy new buildings and modern storefronts stood tall, replacing what he once knew.“This has to be the place,” Ryan muttered to himself, squinting as he slowed the car to a crawl. His voice filled the silence of the car, calm one moment, agitated the next. “I remember… it was right around here, I think. On the left side. Or was it the right? Damn it, I should remember this. How can I not remember?”His heart pounded harder the longer he stared. He leaned forward, his nose almost brushing the windshield, as though being closer to the glass would somehow bring the p

  • Chapter 150

Julian’s car screeched into the McCarthy’s driveway faster than he normally drove. He almost forgot to lock the door behind him in his rush, fumbling with the keys like an overeager child. His chest was still pounding with excitement, his phone clutched tightly in his hand as if it might vanish or the call might somehow be undone if he let it go.He stormed into the McCarthy mansion, pushing the door open with a loud creak.“Mr. and Mrs. McCarthy” Julian shouted breathlessly as he entered the living room.Mr. McCarthy looked up from his glass while Mrs. McCarthy sat elegantly on the velvet sofa, a magazine half-forgotten in her lap.“Julian?” Mrs. McCarthy blinked at him. “What on earth is the matter? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”Julian laughed, a high, breathless laugh, and shook his head furiously. “Not a ghost. Not a ghost at all. Something better—something much, much better.”Mr. McCarthy leaned forward, setting his glass on the table. His tone was clipped. “Well? Stop stam

Julian sat at the dining table, a half-empty plate of pasta in front of him, fork dangling carelessly in his hand. He wasn’t really hungry.Every bite he chewed came with a smug thought about Ryan.Ryan, the so-called golden boy.Ryan, the man the board used to praise every chance they got.Ryan, who had walked into the boardroom so confident and walked out suspended, stripped of everything.Julian chuckled to himself, shaking his head as he stabbed another forkful of pasta. “Pathetic,” he muttered, speaking out loud as if Ryan could hear him through the walls. “He thought he could play with me. With us. Look at him now.”He lifted his glass of water and leaned back in his chair, savoring the sweet taste of victory. That was when his phone buzzed against the table.Julian frowned, lowering the glass. The name on the screen made him pause. It wasn’t a name at all — just an unknown number flashing insistently. He rolled his eyes. With a flick of his finger, he silenced the call and toss

Ryan picked up the phone slowly, pressing it against his ear.“Hello?” he said, his tone steady. On the other end, a familiar voice came through. “Ryan,” the man said warmly. “This is Harrison. Harrison Grant.”“Mr. Harrison,” he replied, his voice polite even though he already knew who he was. “Good day.”“Good day Ryan,” Mr. Harrison said, “I hope I’m not catching you at a bad time.”“No, you’re not,” Ryan answered. “Please, go ahead.”There was a small pause, the sound of papers being shifted in the background before Mr. Harrison spoke again. “The board members have met after today’s session,” he said carefully. “And we have decided that… if you have any proof, any evidence at all that you were the one who mined the Nova coins, we are willing to sit down and listen.”Ryan nodded even though he knew Mr. Harrison couldn’t see him. “I hear you, Mr. Harrison. And I will prove it. I will prove that I mined those coins. I will not let lies bury the truth.” There was silence for a moment

The drive home was quiet, almost suffocating in its silence. Ryan kept his hands firm on the steering wheel, his jaw set tight, while Claudia stared out the window. The confrontation with the McCarthys and Julian replayed in her mind over and over like a nightmare she couldn’t wake from. When they finally got home, Claudia walked in first, dropping her purse on the couch with more force than she intended.“I still can’t believe it,” she burst out. “Ryan, how could they do this? How could the board suspend you just like that? On the basis of lies! Forged papers! How could they not see through it?” Her words came out fast, tumbling over one another.Ryan sighed and loosened his tie, laying it gently on the arm of the sofa. He lowered himself into the chair across from her.“How could they, Ryan? These are people who have worked with you, who have seen everything you’ve done for Nova. And just because the McCarthys and Julian come in waving some fake documents, they—They suspend you wit
