I have a request of mine too, Elle continued.
"A request?" Lex thought to himself, "what could it possibly be?" 'Ask on, your highness," Lex spoke as he stole a glance of the noble's daughter; she was even more perfect than he had described in the story, she seemed stunned as she also got a clear look of his face. Elle then cleared her throat as she spoke, "I would like you to join the ongoing lower hand quest in the city of Greyl." Lex's face went blank; that was the least of his expectations. The noble's daughter had just indirectly asked him on what he would have called an earthly date, but through strenuous and dangerous means. The lower hand quest was a quest which could be tried by every man in the city or even beyond the city of Greyl, whether with the ability of a knight or not; that included servants like Lex. The competition involved going on various raids to dangerous dungeons and surviving in each; after the last raid, which would be the most dangerous, each of the knights would be given new ranks. Knights are normally ranked this way: Beginner knight, Adept knight, Expert knight, Master knight, High level knight. There were more ranks but could only be found in the realms of the higher nobles. The highest level an ordinary knight has ever reached is the expert level. After the surviving knights are ranked, they'll proceed to fight a gifted high-level knight; the one amongst them with the maximum lasting time would be referred to as the winner. The winner would be given many rewards, which also included getting married to the noble's daughter. Lex blinked twice as he resorted in bowing again. "Your wish is my command, your highness." "Very well then, Lex, I'll see you after the Next raid," Lex bowed lower then dispersed from the scene. Lex was once again escorted by the green armoured Knight, but this time he didn't pull him; instead, they both walked freely back to the dungeons. Lex was slightly confused as to why the knight had become somewhat nicer, on arriving at his cell, Lex slowly sank into the cemented ground, his back slightly aching. Tomorrow's the day, he thought to himself excitedly; he then sat up as he peered towards the other cell just opposite where he stood. "I never thought you'll cheat so quickly," Kate said as she rested back on the prison bars. "What? C-Cheat," Lex spoke startled, Kate then pointed her finger towards her ear, "I have a special ability, I heard all that happened in the library." "You did? That's an impressive skill," Lex regained his composure as he peered back at Kate, who now smiled, while gazing at her sharp nails. The special ability she had said earlier was probably her innate skill she had gone deep into the cell to activate it. Kate then continued, "Thanks for letting me join the dungeon raid tomorrow," of course" answered Lex. He wondered if he should tell her the reason he accepted the lower hand quest. He had no interest in the noble's daughter. Falling in love with a human was less exciting than with a demon, beast kin or an elf. But that wasn't necessary; after all, she knew he was a slave, and there was no possible way a slave could become the lower hand knight of a noble. He only accepted so he could join the dungeon raids and get a change of occupation. *** The timeline in dungeons are different from that of Aetheria, only when the dungeon is high-ranked. For most lower-ranked dungeons. one day in the dungeon, would be equal to one day on Aetheria. Lex's eyes slowly opened as the prison bell continuously rang; it was 3:00 AM in the morning. He laid on the ground stretching, wondered how sad old Charlie and mama Rina would have been when they found out what happened to him. He went ahead to stand. "System, are you there?" The shrill voice of the system then responded: {Yes host} {The occupation change quest is till ongoing} {6 days 12 hours and 38 minutes till deadline} {Number of monsters killed; 0} Lex smiled at the translucent screen just ahead of him; now he was absolutely certain all that occurred yesterday wasn't just a dream. He gazed around the cell; the chains that were tied to the cell bars had already been removed, he shrugged. "A slave doesn't get food or a bath either." "Kate?" Ready for today?" Kate spoke confidently walking out of shadows of her cell, Lex was bemused by the arousing figure who stood just right outside of the iron railings. "Meals and bathing aren't for people who should get executed; only count on it if we're out of these bars by the end of today." Lex nodded, staring instinctively at her chest area; Kate then muttered under her breath, "pervert." "I take it back," she snuffed, "you're no different from the others." They both strutted out of the cells, side by side, along with the other prisoners. Lex stood firmly on the dusty ground along with the other prisoners, Kate included, it had been two hours since they left the prison, they were now far away from the city on a hill referred to as Scallfell Pike; each of them were given various weapons, such as axes, swords, and spears, along with huge sacks. Lex held two swords in his hands; one was his, and the other was for Kate, who didn't accept hers. Standing right at their front was the servant overseer Nox. He wore a long white robe, a staff held in his hands as he peered at each of the prisoners. He pointed towards a wide hole, which was a few centimeters from where they stood. "That hole is infested with low-rank magic beasts; your job is to fill each of your bags with the precious stones within." "If you succeed in filling your sack, a rope would be let down, and you would return as a resource miner." "If you don't, you'll remain there till you do." "Alright then, you may proceed into the hole." "Wait!" A masculine voice called from behind. It was Dane, the green armoured knight.Latest Chapter

Over the past few hours, lex slowly recovered from the black flash of fatigue and mana drain. Although the system had emphasized on 5 hours for recovery, it took lex seven hours to pull himself together.“The Eternal Flame.” Lex muttered to himself as he sat up on the slightly dusty palace floors. “I must find out if she’s a legend and actually existed, or the stories are mere fables.”His eyes darted towards the position of the first orb, the glow it emanated initially had dissipated, its vibrant form becoming shaded. Lex approached the second orb, wondering who the second master was going to be and what sort of power they’ll manifest.Lex’s heart began beating in anticipation as he began pouring Mana into the orb. The orb immediately glimmered in unmistakable ethereal glow, one second and lex was focused on the mana transmission, the next? His consciousness was absorbed and then lex was dragged into another scenario, entirely different from the previous one.Lex’s consciousness emer

A blind woman who looked like she was in her early twenties walked out of the hut then smiled. She raised her right palm and a small vine materialized.Lex was shocked. She had just summoned a vine from nothing. Her outfit was made of well woven green vines. The vine she summoned in her hand was eight meters long, which she began tying across her eyes, holding it firm at the back of her head. After tying the vines, her head abruptly tilted to the side and immediately a dagger whizzed past her ear, barely missing her by a hair’s breadth. She stretched her hands forward and immediately a man covered in black from head to toe appeared in view from amidst the trees, floating and held together with vines. She smiled subtly."Too weak, as even in the golden realm, you cannot defeat me."Immediately she muttered those words, Lex felt pulled away from the scene as he appeared somewhere else entirely. In the scene stood the blind woman once again. The woven vines held firm across her body. The

The crystalline orb pulses with a rhythmic, ethereal glow, channeling the echoes of ancient masters directly into your mind to reveal the divergent path toward total martial transcendence.Lex's gaze fell on the two crystal orbs on the far left side of a distant shelf.“Channeling the echoes of ancient masters.”Lex muttered as he tried to understand the message with his perception.'Which means it shows me how to fight or use my skills better, just like the ancient masters did, and probably master it to the extent of its full capacity.'Lex thought to himself as since his perception had increased to 67, he could decode sentences like this quite easily. However the skills and wisdom the orb should give would probably be related to the demons, lex figured as he stood from his crouched position beside Naomi, found his way through the shelves, and went ahead to lift the two orbs. The orbs were oddly large, and there was no ethereal glow the golden scroll had mentioned, nor any pulse. So

Lex brows furrowed as he stared intently at the golden letters, each joined together in words to form a few sentences, however lex didn't understand what the golden scroll was trying to portray at all.He had gone through other scrolls before and the reason he wasn't too bothered in understanding them was because along with the sentences were often images, paintings showcasing what the sentences meant or what it should mean."Is this really necessary?"Lex asked himself, however he realized a golden scroll whose sentences materialized when opened was not something to be ignored. After all there were no other scrolls that captivated him such as it. And so lex decided to learn the demon language. The only way he could pull that off was to gather all the other scrolls and slowly itemize all the images, filtering out similar words and sentences and their corresponding meanings, as that way he would finally be able to understand what the scroll was portraying.Lex proceeded to tidy the li

(Demonic Realm, Lex's POV)*Splat**Splat*Slowly, blood dripped from Lex's body as he ran at top speed. He had plastered his wounds with vines, and although they had no healing abilities, they had done a great job stopping the blood flow.He held Naomi tightly on his left shoulder with one hand as he gazed at the tall building ahead. He had found the demon king's palace. And not only that, he had a head start on the magic beasts, which were currently trailing him at full speed.Naomi, slumped over Lex's shoulder, was not aware of her surroundings at all. Having hit the ground head first, it was going to take a long while before she fully recovered from the internal bleeding.A vine erupted from behind Lex, parrying a long range shot from a magic beast, with Lex completely unaware of what had happened.A few minutes passed, and Lex edged closer to the demon king's palace. His plan was to hide from the magic beasts inside the building, if luckily, they did not destroy the whole place.
Defiance
Lex stared blankly, mouth agape. He had not noticed it before, but this, this was the true strength of a hybrid adventurer. “Nice one, Naomi!” Lex screamed from below as he felt elated seeing that Naomi had not fallen prey to the diving wyvern. Before Lex could focus on another move, he was hit squarely in the chest. Lex felt as though life had been knocked out of his body. He flew backward, crashing down on the ground several meters away. He had been struck by a large salamander, a fire based elemental creature. The dozens of magic beasts had begun joining the fray. This was no longer going to be a task where Lex needed to defend himself. It was now a task where he needed to defend his life. Different sounds rang in Lex's head as he lay flat on the dark soil of the demonic realm. Lex sighed internally. He knew that if Naomi had not been here, he would not have crossed paths with the magic beasts in the first place. However, he also knew he could not bear seeing her get i
