The vibrating motion of the sound shattered in his head like a vibrating motion.
"What could that be?" Multiple thoughts filled his head. He could also feel the vibrating motion of feet from beneath him, making him turn around swiftly.
"Hey, man. Up to take out some trash again?" His eyes caught him with Lucky and Randy, making their way toward him in a rushed manner.
They were his roommates at the dormitory. Most people there treated him like trash. Gave him peanuts to take out the trash and that was the reason why he was given the name Trashy Nicolas.
"Trashy Nicolas. I just asked a question." The both of them burst out into laughter together.
After a while, there was a sudden pause and Nicolas finally pointed out the reason that he was there.
"I'm here to get a cell phone." He finally announced.
There was a strange expression on their faces as they pulled over to him, tapping him slightly on his shoulders.
There was a trace of astonishment written on his face, surprised by their sudden act.
"What's wrong with the both of you?" He inquired swiftly trying to pull away from their strange grip but they held onto him.
"Just surprised and curious at the same time. Trashy Nicolas has finally been able to get enough money to take out the trash. How ironic." They chuckle, trying as much as possible not to burst into laughter.
But coming from Nicolas, their statement was firmly ignored, making a quick pull away from them.
His heart raced fast as he did so.
Randy's eyes skimmed through the place earnestly, searching for something that none of the two others could tell exactly what it was.
Lucky's facial expression was laced with confusion, watching Randy tilting in circles and he finally asked.
"Hey, man. What's up with you." He inquired with a stare on his face.
Randy, finally pulling a stop, turned around towards them and said. "Isn't it strange? That there are no cell phone shops here?" He muttered.
For the first time, Lucky searched around too, and turned towards him.
"You are right. Or is there something that you are too ashamed to tell us trashy Nicolas? That you are getting a secondhand?" They said and this time, the effort to hide their mocking laughter failed.
Nicolas's teeth were tightly clutched against his mouth in a swift attempt to control his rising anger.
"Look over there. Isn't that a sandwich store? No, I think it's the coffee store." Nicolas joined them in their mockery and their laughter folded up in their mouths.
They made a swift turn towards him and exclaimed almost at the same time.
"Huh?"
"I wonder if it's the lack of nutrition that has blinded the both of you to notice that's the iPhone shop over there." He finally added.
His next words were accompanied by bone-chilling silence after which they burst out into laughter once again.
"Are you serious?" They laughed.
Lucky, able to hold himself up, straightened his collar and finally went ahead to ask.
"Now tell me. What will you be able to afford there? The iPhone 1?"
"No. The whips used for cleaning the windows." They fell into uncontrollable laughter once again but Nicolas wasn't by any means moved by their words.
"Sorry to disappoint you but I am going to get the iPhone 15 pro max." He finally announced it to them.
His statement seemed to cause a different sensation in them, one of spilling anger, shooting a bloodshot stare at him.
"That poverty in your head must have done a lot of things to you haven't it?" Lucky thundered at him.
"No one burst out of having the iPhone 15 flagship in our dormitory. Do you think it's child's play?"
There was a little dance of smiles on Nicola's face, getting them even more angry than they were already.
"Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean that you should take out your anger on those that can." He responded nonchalantly, the words sending cold chills down their spine.
"And what makes you think that you can afford it? You are the least of the people on planet Earth that can ever hold that flagship in their hands."
Nicolas was gradually losing his guard and he could feel the anger gradually gripping down his spine.
"And what if I can?" He replied swiftly, without his stare sliding away for a single moment.
"Then we are going to call you Daddy before everyone in the dormitory for a whole week." They responded.
"Then we have a bet." Nicolas was about to say but he was obstructed even before he could get to finish his statement.
"Not so fast Trashy Nicolas. Don't think that we are stupid enough to make this so one-sided that you will always be able to get away with it.
If you are not able to get that particular flagship, you will take out the trash for everyone in the dormitory for a week."
"Think twice before you go ahead to accept." He was about to say.
But before Randy could get to finish his statement, Nicolas already gave his acceptance to this.
Even though they were every bit stunned by the sudden change in his demeanor, none of that mattered to them.
Dark smiles dangling on their lips because soon, they were going to be the kings of dom. Even though it was just going to be for a week.
"Wait for me out here." Nicolas finally said.
He made his way gradually to the other end of the road, drawing in a really deep breath afterward.
Staring at the gigantic building sitting right before him made his heart race. Never had he imagined that he would have any course to come in here. Except maybe When he had summoned enough courage to apply for a job as a Janitor.
He took a swift walk inside, the breathtaking sight and men of luxury all littered around.
It seemed as though he was the only odd one. Random people stared at him, making and storming by as soon as their eyes crossed paths.
They held their children close to themselves and some even took another path.
Nicolas ran his hands through his hair to make it a little bit orderly after all the beating that he had received and finally, he made his way towards the central table.
There were displays littered all around the place. He saw the section for the flagship that he was searching for, and without wasting any more of his time, Nicolas quickly surged towards it.
He was able to take it out when he heard a vibrating wave making swift movements up his spine.
"Stop right there." The voice came again.
Nicolas stopped right on the spot as he turned around slowly towards the direction of the sound.
It was the sales attendant there. Making her way towards him swiftly with a thick frown on her face.
"And what do you think it is that you are doing?" She inquired, finally catching up with him.
Hitting his hand on his head, Nicolas made a sudden exclamation.
"Why is everyone hell-bent on asking me stupid and obvious questions today? Does it look like I am picking out candy from a treat rack?" He inquired with a strong air of confidence that Startled the sales attendant.
But she was quickly able to brush up but Nicolas had a really Swift eye and noticed.
"You maybe you are so dumb you think candies can get you those." She replied, snapping the iPhone box that he had in his hands and replacing it with where he had gotten them from.
A thick frown hovered on his face and turned around towards her, he finally said.
"What was that for?" He inquired swiftly.
"Trying to prevent crime. Just take a really good look at yourself. Do you think that you can afford one of those?" She Inquired.
Nicolas firmly Ignored her statement, his anger rising
"I don't get you." He shot a cold and a deadly snare at her quickly.
"Are you treating me on account of my looks and you feel like I will not be able to afford it?" She growled.
"I'm just trying not to waste my time."
"By driving a potential Customer who you don't know if he can afford this or not?" He growled with anger.
"You know what. You should get me the manager. With this f*e period I have spent with you, I think that I have a lot to say."
Knowing what that meant made her eyes flicker immediately.
She allowed him to make the purchase but not without threats.
"The minute I find out that you are just here to waste my time, I am going to make sure that you pay for it." She growled.
Nicolas ignored her, going ahead to pick up the iPhone with the natural titanium frame but as he was about to do this, it slipped from his hands, dropping to the floor and the sound of it filled the hall like a sound from hell.
