A Letter From Big Brother

"Big sis Ursula... what are you doing here?"

"What did you mean by what you said?"

Why are you preventing us from going to save big brother?"

Verna immediately shot off a torrent of questions at the lady who had appeared in the garden.

This lady had a head full of golden hair that flowed beautifully like a clear stream down a brook. Her face was angular and had sharp contours that were usually found in a man giving her a handsome and valiant look.

Her eyes were a clear blue, and they sparkled like stars, much like how the sister's eyes did.

This lady looked to be in her late teens and although her face was not cold, there was a certain dignified aura about her that gave her a confident look. Standing at the entrance of the garden, this lady exuded a comfortable feeling that would make one relax at the mere sight of her.

Unfortunately, the sisters were not in the right mood to relax. Their big brother had just been given an unfair sentence and they very much wanted to rectify it in any way they can. That is why suddenly hearing that this lady intended to stop them made them unhappy.

This lady was Ursula...

Apart from Clover, she was the only other person among the Universe Immortal Clan that Arya and Verna were close with.

The relationship between Ursula and the twins was one of adopted sisters who looked out for each other. Growing up, although Clover had been the one responsible for raising his sisters on his own, it was a fact that there was something that he wouldn't be able to teach them. For these things, it was much better if the twins had the help of a member of the same sex to teach them these things.

Ursula was the one who had filled the gap caused by their parent's absence and she had thought the sisters those things they needed to know that Clover could not teach them.

Growing up, Ursula had been more of a nanny to the girls than anything, and the twins loved her almost as much as they did their brother. If not for the fact that Ursula and Clover did not have a good relationship with each other, things would have been perfect.

That's right, whether it was Clover or Ursula, neither of them liked each other.

Maybe it was because of Clover's crimes that had made him a bit antisocial when it came to others who were not his sisters, but Clover did not have any friends among the universe immortals. As for Ursula, although she especially like these cute little twins that she had seemingly adopted, she could never stand the sight of clover at all.

This was not because of the accusations that Clover faced. Instead, it was because of other, more subtle reasons that Ursula disliked him. Whenever the two of them would meet, they would almost always break into a fight, and were it not for the twins, there would have been no peace in this little asteroid.

Till now, Ursula was the only one that ever visited the asteroid that the siblings inhabited and it was only when it was time for the girl's lessons.

Right now, because of Clover's trial and sentencing, the twins did not have any lessons scheduled with Ursula, so it was surprising that she would appear here.

It was even more surprising that she would want to stop them from going to meet their big brother.

Listening to Verna's series of questions as he demanded an answer, Ursula's expression remained the same as she answered, "Naturally, I am stopping you because I don't want you to make a wasted effort in saving your brother. There is nothing you or anybody can do for him. The elder council has made their decision and they won't be changing it now or in the future, so instead of going there and achieving nothing, you'd better stay here with me either."

"At the same time, I have come to pick you girls up."

"From now on, the two of you will be staying with me until you've grown up, so pack your bags. We will be leaving soon."

Arya and Verna were surprised and dumbfounded by what they were hearing.

They couldn't believe what Ursula was saying.

Trying very hard to hold back her feelings, Verna asked Ursula patiently.

"Big sis Ursula, what are you saying? How could you say there is no way to save big brother? How can you be so sure that the elder council will not change their minds?"

"We have not even tried to do anything, so how can we be sure that this is really it for big brother?"

"I refuse to believe it!"

"Big brother did not do anything wrong!"

"Although I was still very young when all this happened before and I can't remember anything, I know that it is because of big brother that I and Arya are still alive right now. Big brother protected the two of us all these years ago. Even when our parents died, it was big brother that raised us and took care of us. Big brother was still a child when all this happened, but even still, he took care of us. We cannot just let big brother be exiled like this without doing anything. We have to do something to change the minds of the elder council so that they will not take our big brother away from us."

As Verna spoke, although she tried very hard not to, she could not stop herself from breaking down into tears.

Large beads of tears from down Verna's cheeks as she spoke to Ursula, conveying all her feelings for her big brother in her words. At the same time, her sister Arya also burst into tears as she sobbed loudly.

The two sisters each held each other in their hands as they both cried for their big brother, who was likely no longer going to be with them.

Seeing the twins like this, Ursula felt a pain in her chest for what they were going through.

She could not bear the see them like this, so she hurried over to their side to hold them in her arms and comfort them.

"There, there, girls... you should stop crying, okay. You don't have to worry very much. Your big brother is very strong and he will be able to take care of them okay."

"Listen to me, with your big brother's strength, he will quickly be able to find the Obelisk and return it back to its rightful place. Then he will be able to come back to the two of you. This is not the end, okay. Even if you cannot see your big brother now, it doesn't mean you won't be able to see him ever again."

"At most, when the two of you have grown up to become very strong and powerful, you can go out to look for your big brother and you will be able to see him again. But for now, you girls should pack up your things and come with me. You're both going to be living with your big sis Ursula from now on. Haven't you always wanted to live with me? Well, now we can always be together, okay. I will make sure to take care of both of you."

Sniff, sniff!

The twins sniffled as they were being hugged by Ursula.

Hearing the words Ursula said, they were slightly comforted, so they stopped crying and only let out occasional sobs.

Verna, being the more assertive one, then said to Ursula, "There is no need to tell us lies just to comfort us big sis Ursula. I know you're just saying all this to make us feel better. You and big brother have always hated each other, so there is no need to speak up for him just to please us."

"But you're right, even if the two of us are not able to see big brother anymore now, it doesn't mean we can't see him ever again."

"Arya and I will become stronger in the future and go out to search for big brother ourselves. as for going to live with you, I'm sorry big sis Ursula, but we will not be going with you. The two of us will wait here for big brother to come back and pick us up. If he doesn't, then we will still stay here and grow stronger together until we can go and look for big brother ourselves. I'm sure it's what big brother would have wanted us to do."

Verna said assertively, and Arya also nodded in agreement.

Sigh!

Seeing them, Ursula sighed before saying, "Are you really sure that's what your big brother would have wanted for you?"

Verna frowned when she heard this.

She immediately asked, "What do you mean?"

Instead of asking, Ursula reached into the small pouch that was hanging on her waist. When her hand came out, she was holding an antique-looking Mithral key in her hand.

Seeing this Mithral key in Ursula's hand, the twin's eyes widened in surprise.

Verna immediately burst out and asked, "That is the central key to the asteroid. Only big brother has it. How did it get into your hand's big sis Ursula?"

The twins were very surprised to see the Mithral key in Ursula's hands because that was the key to controlling the entire asteroid they were currently living in. There was only one of its kind in the entire world which had been created by their parents when they had modified the asteroid.

After their parents' deaths, it had fallen into Clover's hands and he was the only one who knew where it was kept.

Not even Arya and Verna knew where Clover had hidden the key. Now seeing it in Ursula's hands, the sisters could not help being surprised by this.

In response to Verna's question, Ursula answered, "Where do you think I got it from. Of course it was that stinking big brother of yours who gave it to me."

"Today, before the trial started, I received a mail from you, big brother. In it was this key, as well as a letter. In the letter, your big brother told me that he would probably not be able to take care of you anymore and that I should take you in. At the same time, he gave me this key to use and lock up the asteroid when I took you in so that nobody would be able to enter into it when he was not around."

"He also mentioned in the letter that he would be gone for a long time to take care of some personal issues."

"At first, I did not understand what he meant in the letter. It was only when the trial started and when the final sentence was given that I had a sudden feeling."

"It was almost as if your big brother knew that he would be exiled today as a sentence for his crimes and had already made many preparations beforehand. The letter also mentioned some of those preparations he made concerning you two. Even I was shocked by all this when I finally realized this."

Verna and Arya listened to Ursula as she explained how she had gotten the key.

There was disbelief in their eyes and they could not believe what they were hearing.

Seeing their dumbfounded expressions, Ursula knew that they did not believe her. But she was not annoyed. Instead she said, "What... you don't believe me?"

"Well then, take a look at this."

Saying that, Ursula once again reached into her waist pouch and this time she brought out a thin yellow letter with dense words scribbled on it.

Giving the letter to the twins, Ursula said, "This is the letter I received from your big brother."

"You can take your time reading it. You will understand what I mean when you read it."
