Chapter 2: Cruel reality

Judy emerged from behind Steve, wearing revealing pajamas and embracing him.

Her eyes were closed, and she asked, "Steve, who is it?"

Steve smirked and was about to respond when a sound caught their attention.

A delivery box falled onto the ground. Louis stood there, his gaze fixed on Judy, unable to believe that this was his once-innocent girlfriend.

In his shock, he dropped the items he was holding.

Judy heard the noise and looked up, locking eyes with Louis.

Surprise flickered across her face for a moment, quickly replaced by contempt and indifference.

Louis was about to speak when Steve interjected, taunting him:

"What's the matter with you? Are you trembling in fear just by seeing me? You're nothing but a cowardly vermin, incapable of even the simplest tasks."

Steve expected to see Louis' angry and helpless expression. But to his surprise, Louis stared past him at the girl by his side and shouted angrily:

"Judy, what are you doing here with this bastard? You told me you were studying at the library. Why are you here?"

Louis' voice sounded filled with despair, but Judy clung tightly to Steve's arm and weakly said, "What are you talking about? I don't even know you! Steve, I'm so scared."

She buried her head in Steve's chest, and he held her, wearing a sinister smile as he looked at Louis, saying:

"Are you insane? She's my girlfriend, and we're intimate. What's the matter, man? Jealous that you can't have such a beautiful girlfriend?"

Louis couldn't believe what he was seeing. The girl he loved, who had always been pure and innocent, was pretending not to recognize him.

Rage surged within him.

Louis felt that there must be a threat or a misunderstanding. The innocent and pure Judy would never behave this way willingly!

With that thought, he looked at Judy and said, "Judy, if you're in trouble, just tell me. Don't follow Steve; he's a player! He doesn't love you; he only wants to take advantage of you!"

Steve heard this and sneered, looking at Judy as he asked, "Do you know this poor guy?"

Judy laughed mockingly and glanced at Louis before saying, "Since we're here, there's no need to hide anything. I love Steve; you're just a joke to me. Get lost; a poor loser like you doesn't deserve me!"

Louis widened his eyes in disbelief and tried to speak, but Judy continued with disdain:

"Haven't you realized the reality? You were too poor to buy me a gift, but Steve is different. He can give me everything. He gave me watches, necklaces... expensive things that someone as worthless as you could never afford! Do you really think I would love someone as poor as you?"

She caressed the necklace around her neck—a precious piece that almost stung Louis' eyes with its reflection.

At this moment, Steve understood what was happening.

Judy was Louis' girlfriend! He burst into laughter, hugging Judy's waist and mocking Louis:

"You're so poor you can't even keep your own girlfriend, hahaha! What a shame. Someone like you can only dream of having a girlfriend. You should stick to your broken-down bike and continue delivering packages for the rest of your life, ha ha ha..."

He kissed Judy on the cheek, his hand wandering down to fondle her breasts. With a smug expression, he lovingly said, "Judy, my darling, tell me what you want. I'll give you anything."

Judy's eyes sparkled upon hearing that, and she buried her head in Steve's chest, saying softly, "I wanted the Chanel bag last time..."

They kissed passionately, the sound echoing in the room.

Louis was consumed with anger, his eyes bloodshot, unable to think straight.

He pulled Steve away and threw a punch, but Steve easily dodged and retaliated.

Nevertheless, Louis didn't give up; his anger fueled his fight. The commotion attracted the attention of students in the dormitory who looked out and witnessed the intense brawl between Louis and Steve.

Steve, being a football player, had a well-toned physique.

In the end, Louis couldn't overpower him and was knocked to the ground.

Steve spat on the ground, wearing a scornful smile as he said, "You can't even keep your girlfriend, and yet you have the audacity to fight for mine?"

Judy joined them, and just when Louis expected her to help him up, she walked over to Steve. She touched his wound with feigned concern and said, "Steve honey, are you okay?"

Then she turned to Louis, who was struggling to sit up, and said, "Louis, I've told you before. I love Steve; you're nothing but a joke to me. Stop daydreaming. Here's your delivery money; take it and leave!"

Judy took the money out of her pocket and dropped it on Louis' head before walking away with Steve. Just as they were leaving, Steve turned around and cruelly said, "Dare to hit me, and I'll show you what real suffering is!"

As they departed, Louis remained seated on the ground, his gaze fixed on Judy and Steve's retreating figures.

His heart felt as though it were being torn apart by a wild animal.

How could this be? How could his once innocent and beautiful girlfriend turn out to be like this?

She had chosen money over him and went with the person he despised the most.

Perhaps she had spoken the truth—he was nothing but a joke to her. Louis thought about his humble background and felt a surge of hatred for his own life.

He had given his all, but received nothing in return. When would this cycle of misery end?

The surrounding students witnessed the scene but chose not to intervene or lend a hand to Louis. Instead, they laughed and gossiped about him.

"Can you believe it? The poorest guy in school actually thought he could have a beautiful girlfriend?"

"Yeah, he even dared to fight with Steve. It's so hilarious."

"People like them will always choose someone like Steve. No one wants to be with a poor person."

"Exactly! He should know his place. How could someone as poor as him pursue such a beautiful girl?"

......

Mockery and laughter filled Louis' ears.

He clenched the money Judy had thrown at him, digging his nails into his skin, but he felt no pain.

Anger and despair consumed his mind.

Gritting his teeth, he stood up, trying to ignore the sneers, and rode away on his bicycle.

The eyes following him felt like monsters, reminding him to face the harsh and gloomy reality...
