Copper sat alone in his room, his weathered hands gripping the phone so tightly the leather casing creaked beneath his fingers. For hours he had paced, debated, and fought with the silence of his own conscience.

Dylan’s proposal had sounded reckless, experimental and dangerous with outcomes no one could fully predict. But time was no longer a luxury they had. Jackson’s condition was worsening by the hour, his Flameborn essence flickering like a candle caught in a storm.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Copper lifted the phone and pressed the call button. The line clicked alive almost instantly.

“Dylan,” he said, though the weight beneath his voice betrayed him. “Do it. Inject the serum into Jackson.”

There was a pause on the other end, followed by Dylan’s low, steady reply. “You understand what this means, Copper? If it fails—”

“I know,” Copper cut him off sharply, the words breaking out like a blade drawn too fast. He drew in a deep breath, forcing the tremor out of his ch

Copper returned to the suite with a tray balanced carefully in his hands. It was something light enough for Jackson to stomach — a bowl of broth, a slice of bread, and fresh fruit. Jackson barely looked up as Copper set it down, but Bella, ever watchful, leaned forward immediately.“Here, let me,” she whispered, picking up the spoon. Jackson didn’t protest. His body leaned into the pillows, pale but steady, his eyes glassy with exhaustion. The fight with Trey had indeed, stripped him bare, and the weight of Elara’s games pressed heavier still. Bella dipped the spoon, brought it to his lips, and Jackson obeyed with silent trust, swallowing as though every movement cost him a battle.Copper stood near the edge of the room, his eyes resting on them for only a moment before his pocket buzzed. The vibration against his chest was sharp, insistent. He pulled the phone free, recognizing the number immediately. Gideon. His aide never called without reason.Stepping quietly into the hallway, Co

Blake stood rigidly in Elara’s study, after a strenuous week of trying to get all the information he could gather about Ruth—Jackson's mother and whether or not she was really alive as they were thinking. His coat smelled faintly of smoke and rain, a sign of the night’s endless pursuit. He cleared his throat, lowering his voice as if the walls themselves might overhear.“I have leads,” he reported, setting a thin dossier on her polished desk. “On Ruth. According to what I’ve gathered… she’s alive. And she’s searching for Jackson.”Elara, perched elegantly on the edge of her chair, lifted her glass of red wine but didn’t drink. The pause was deliberate, and then what followed after, was her wicked smile. At last, she tilted her head, her dark hair sliding like silk over her shoulder.“Alive…” she echoed, her voice equal parts wonder and venom. “So the accident didn’t claim her after all.” She leaned forward, her eyes catching the candlelight with a dangerous glint. “Verify it. Everythi

  • Chapter 201: The Awakening!

The world around Jackson was a blur of shadows and fire. Inside the coma, he stood barefoot in a barren wasteland, the ground cracked and glowing as though a volcano slept just beneath the surface. He could feel it — the firestorm, raging just beneath his skin, clawing to be freed. His chest heaved as if every breath might be his last. For a moment, he wanted to give in, to collapse and let the flames swallow him whole. But then came the voices.Jackson don't leave me.It was Bella, faint but piercing through the chaos like a lifeline.Don’t leave us. If you can hear me at all—fight. Fight your way back. Fight like you always do. For me. For James, for Andrew, for Hailey, for everyone who still needs you.”He staggered to his knees, clutching his chest as the Flameborn mark burned so brightly it felt seared into his very bones. Sparks cracked across his arms, licking his skin, testing his resolve.“No…” Jackson’s voice was hoarse but defiant. “Not like this. Not yet.”The firestorm s

  • Chapter 200: Bella’s Plea!

The CIA agents who had been instructed by the council to have Evans arrested, slammed Evans' apartment's door against the wall with a reverberating crack. Their boots thundered on the hardwood floor, every movement clipped, precise, and drilled into muscle memory. Muzzles swept from corner to corner, the metallic clicks of safety disengaging and echoing like clockwork in the cramped space.Drawers were yanked out and dumped, spilling their contents across the rug like entrails. File folders were scattered, pages fluttering under the downdraft of heavy boots. Closet doors rattled against hinges, a lamp toppled, shattered, and rolled to a standstill. Even the floorboards weren’t spared — crowbars wedged under panels, prying them up to check for hidden caches. But every time, the result was the same. Nothing.“Clear!” one of the lead agents barked, his voice bouncing off the bare walls. His tone carried more irritation than triumph, the frustration of a hunter forced to admit his quarry

The secure chamber of the CIA’s upper council was shrouded in silence, broken only by the low hum of the recessed lights above and the occasional shuffle of paper. A dozen faces glared down from the table — men and women who held the strings of the renowned Central Intelligence Agency. At the center of it all stood Superintendent Hayes, his hair catching the sterile light, his voice as sharp as the dossiers stacked in front of him.“Council members, I present to you once again the overwhelming evidence,” Hayes said, his hand slamming against a file thick with stamped reports. “Agent Evans has not only withheld information but has been seen in the company of enemies of this nation. The meeting with Samantha Lewis, his team up with Jack Lewis, the concealed communications, the lack of transparency about the Whitelist archives — all of it points to betrayal. He is compromised.”Murmurs rippled through the room. Screens flickered with surveillance photos and grainy images of Evans seated
