Let me go!
Scarlet never showed up at the hospital.
Kai sat up on the third day after he was admitted.
His back and ribs hurt so badly.
“How do you feel, Mr. Kai?” The nurse in duty asked, pulling the curtains down.
Her smile warmed Kai's heart. It had been so long since he experienced the softness from a woman and it caused his heart to wade.
“No family members showed up for you. Is there anyone you would like us to call?”
Kai shook his head gently, a feeling of sadness clamping him down.
“Also, we would like to let you know that it is standard procedure for us to invite the police over for cases such as yours.”
Kai shook his head hastily.
“I do not need the police please,” he pleaded, licking his lower lip. “This was just a nasty family fight. I will be fine.”
The nurse twitched her lips and nodded softly to his instruction.
“I will let you be then while I prepare your bill and send it to you in a while.”
Her gentle demeanour caught Kai off guard and was breaking through the walls of his masculine energy.
“Wait a minute,” he called out to her, “can I know your name? The way you took care of me was so touching and life changing.”
The nurse smiled up at him and nodded gently.
“My name is Sandra.”
Kai thanked her and watched her walk away, his eyes following her beautiful frame.
In that moment, he decided within himself that Scarlet was not worth it.
“I have to put an end to this sham I call a Marriage,” he whispered to himself.

The Ross mansion was filled with guests. Once Kai walked through the door, he felt a strange feeling engulf him.
It was a feeling that he was in a strange gathering surrounded by strange people.
“I do not belong here anymore,” he thought to himself.
He managed to navigate himself through the crowd that was in every corner of the living room.
From where he was standing, he saw Scarlet and her mother in the company of two other elites.
The elites were facing him but Scarlet and her mother were having a friendly conversation.
“Isn't that your husband, Kai?” One of the guests asked and Scarlet turned around and her horrid gaze met him.
“Oh… my darling husband,” she cooed , reaching out to take hold of his hand to put up a show for the outside world to assume that things were so rosy between them.
“Oh, they are such a lovely couple,” the other guest added.
“You can say that again,” Valentina whispered through gritted teeth but her gaze was insidious and filled with contempt for Kai.
“We need to talk now,” Kai whispered to Scarlet and pulled her along through the hallway, trying to do so as gently as possible.
“This has better be important!” She squealed at him as they walked across the guests.
Once they were away from the view of everyone, Kai left her and turned to her with pain and depression etched on his face.
“Out with it,” she said, looking at the purple patch in his face. A bruise he had sustained from the attack against him by Henry.
“Being away at the hospital made me see that I am not fit for this kind of life with you.”
Scarlet gazed at him with anger welling up inside of her.
“Where is this conversation headed?” She asked impatiently, tugging at her dress.
Kai rubbed his palms together with fervency, trying to wear off the tension that was building up inside of him.
“I want a divorce!”
“You what?” Scarlet asked, her eyes widening with shock at his braveness to make such a request.
“I want a divorce! I am tired of being your husband because you do not care about me. You do not want me!”
Scarlet smiled wryly and before Kai could say another word, Scarlet slapped him across his face so hard that his cheeks turned red.
“I married you, Kai. So, I will say when it is over between us. Do not ever make this silly request again or I will do worse to you than Henry did.”
She brushed him aside and stormed out of the corridor back into the party.
Kai could hear the music blasting in the halls and the loud chatters of the crowd.
It tore his heart that he had wasted some months of his life chasing after shadows.
He walked back to his bedroom, determined to figure out a way to walk away from his wife without being stopped by her and her family.
The day Henry beat him, he had heard Henry and his wife chatting about him and he was suggesting that they put an end to his life.
What intrigued him the most was the fact that from that conversation, he could deduce that Henry was married.
“That is why she needs me,” he thought out loud. “Now, it is game on, people.”

The night air was filled with mist and ice. The weather was chilly and hardly anyone was outside because it was quite dangerous to be out in that cold.
The Ross mansion was quiet because everyone had retired to bed. In the middle of that cold night, One man was awake, wheeling his luggage out of the mansion as fast as his feet could carry him.
His phone beeped. A message dropped into his phone.
Kai read through the message and tiptoed faster with his boxes .
The driver is outside the mansion.
An executive car was waiting to pick him up and take him back to where he truly belonged.
When he has moved the last of his bega outside, he turned back to the living room that used to be a hellhole for him and whispered, “the worst experience of my damn life,” his face showed how excited he was to be finally leaving that behind and then he shut the door gently, not willing to awaken the Ross souls.
“It is best that they release a search party for me in the morning by which time I will have flown back to California.”
Once he got to the car that was waiting for him, the driver got down and ran towards him.
“It feels good to have you back, boss. We have missed your presence in California.”
The driver's face was beaming with smiles and admiration as he moved Kai's bags into the trunk and opened the door for Kai to get into the car at once.
“Thank you Chez. I missed you too.”
Chez gazed at his boss with curiosity.
“Your face? Are those bruises?” He seemed concerned. “Your father will hate to see you like that, Mr Kai.”
“Leave that to me to bother about , Chez. Just do what you have to do and get me home. I will face my father in my own way.”
“So, we are headed home, right?” The driver asked, adjusting the volume of the stereo.
“Yes Chez!Take me home to my father. I am now ready to be his heir and the son he always wanted.”
He let out a sigh of relief as the dr

Justice For The Billionaire Heir CHAPTER 9: Rejoining the Family of Power
Kai’s heart thudded like a caged bird as he stepped into the marble-floored foyer of the Mitchell estate—a place he hadn’t seen in years. The air was cool and smelled faintly of polished wood and old money, a stark contrast to the damp, cluttered apartments of his recent past. He could almost hear the ghostly echoes of childhood footsteps. Yet, today wasn’t about memories—it was about reclaiming a future. In the hushed quiet of the corridor, Kai’s footsteps faltered. His mind raced with questions he’d long avoided: Could a man so broken ever find a place among titans? Would his father’s towering shadow now provide shelter, or simply remind him of all that he had lost? He paused at a heavy oak door, its surface etched with the delicate filigree of a bygone era. His hand trembled before he knocked, a faint, cadenced knock that sounded far louder than he heard. The door creaked open, revealing James Mitchell standing there. His eyes, a steely gray softened by a hint of sorrow, met Kai’s

"Today's a new start, Kai," James announced the moment they stepped into a sparsely furnished training room. The room was more theater than gym—naked walls, frayed mats, and some equipment that had better days behind it. But it felt purposeful.Kai rocked back, knotted tension inside his belly. "I'm still that cowering kid," he admitted softly, his words raspy with emotion. "Every punch I take, every step I take—it still throbs like I'm there by myself."James nodded, his expression solemn but gentle. "It's not about forgetting the past, son. It's about applying it. I want you to see each scar as proof of survival, as inspiration for what's ahead." He stopped, looking around the room. "We have a lot to work through today."From the corner, a man with a calm yet determined tone joined in. “I’m Marcus,” he introduced himself, extending a calloused hand. “I’ve been working with James for years. Let’s start with the basics—your body is your fortress, Kai.”Kai took Marcus’s hand, feeling

"Kai, may I have a minute?" a gentle voice asked as lights above hummed in harmony. Kai's breath quickened and he stopped at a bend in the mansion's less-traveled hallway. "Who is this?" he answered back, his own voice whisper-thin and guarded, all in spite of the whirlpool of emotions buried beneath his peaceful façade.A lean, tall figure emerged out of the shadows—a woman, young and with eyes that darted nervously but shone with unspoken truths. "Name's Lydia," she whispered close, almost as if she spoke into his heart rather than his ears. "I—I've served in the Ross house for years, and I… I know things. Things you have to know."Kai's brow furrowed as he stepped forward. "What do you mean, things I need to know?" After all of it. His voice held a note of both suspicion and a desperate hope that finally, someone cared enough to inform him of the things no one ever said.Lydia glanced about, her voice trembling as she continued, "I've seen it all—every cruel word, every distorted p

"Did you hear what Madame Tilda whispered this morning?" Mark, the veteran butler, whispered as he stepped in close to Rosa, a timid maid, by the kitchen door."I did," Rosa whispered. "She said that even the lady of the house appears… troubled. I've seen Scarlett pacing in her room, muttering to herself. And Henry… he just shrugs, like nothing matters.".Mark's eyes narrowed. "You think it's because of that drama with Kai? I heard some of the younger staff say that there are fault lines in how they do things nowadays.".As it stood, there came a shy rap at the pantry door. Lena, junior cook and clever one, flew in. "I simply couldn't remain outside," she said, shivering with pent-up feeling. "I overheard Scarlett on the telephone. "Kai, are you sure you want to do this?" Marcus breathed quietly as they slipped through the side door of the mansion. The air inside was thick with murmured secrets and suppressed tension. Kai's voice trembled, "I need to see it for myself, Marcus. I need to know what they have been hiding from me.".“I get it, man,” Marcus replied softly. “But remember, you’re here incognito. Don’t let old memories or emotions betray you.”Kai's eyes brightened with a mixture of determination and hurt vulnerability. "I recall when I used to think of us—when I thought that love existed. "Marcus, you sure about this plan?" Kai asked quietly as he met with his handful of followers in a rented, unmarked room just beyond the city's edge. The dimly lit room was poorly illuminated by a lone lamp, and it hummed with nervous tension.Marcus leaned forward, his eyes blazing. "Each step we take from here on out is a calculated blow, Kai. We use every rumor, every glance exchanged behind the Ross estate to make our point. We won't let their treachery go unchecked.".Kai drew a deep breath, his gaze fixed on a crumpled notepad clutched in his hand. "You said that humiliation was a heaviness in your chest—a constant reminder of how you were nothing. Is it still there?"Kai's eyes turned dark, and he slowly shook his head. I was weak, and I did believe it. But every cutting word, every cold stare, now reminds me that I need to get up. I'm done being their pawn.".Elena's voice intervened, soft but commanding. "The Meridian Capital deal—a massive piece of the Ross empire—is going to be signed tonight."Kai bent forward, his voice stern but with an underlying passion, "I know, Marcus. Meridian has provided the financial core of Ross's business for much too long. If we manage to scupper this deal, it'll be the first big crack in their hold.""Right," said Marcus, "and I've made arrangements through our insider sources. Layla promised me that several key files and emails that prove fraudulent transactions are in position. They are kept on Meridian's secure servers."Kai’s eyes narrowed, and his tone grew firm, “This coup is the culmination of everything—the long nights spent piecing together evidence, every whispered secret from disillusioned insiders. It’s time to strike at the heart of their machinery.”Then there was Ele

"There's a tangled web in the Ross financial transactions—offshore accounts that are not declared, internal memos plotting unauthorized transfers, and even schedules of clandestine meetings between senior officials. Layla's insider evidence is the key.".There was a pause before Kai answered, "That's the kind of truth we're looking for. If we can attack them where their money is being tampered with and their transactions sealed by fraud, we may finally crack their operation wide open."."Ah yes indeed," Marcus stated. The emails which were meant to be flawless now have errors, and the board members are already questioning the decisions I have made.""Are you referring to the previous quarterly report?" Clarissa asked softly, worry on her face."Just exactly," Scarlett shot back, her fists bunching into tight fists, "I published the forecast and—ugh—there were errors. It wasn't an error. "We've gathered our evidence, and now we need to decide how to use it. I believe we should create a dossier so comprehensive that even their most ardent supporters can't help but discredit it."Elena nodded discreetly, "I've already started gathering documents, tapes, and testimony.
