Alfonso's magic time

Athena-sama and I had left the underground cabin a few hours ago, we ate the fruits of the huge tree which tasted like lime but had miraculous healing effects.

We were now fully healed and heading back to the shores where most players would be.

“ So what the hell is this magic tome thingy?“ , she asked while flicking her short hair behind her left ear.

It's the work of Alfonso an all his experiments and research of magic, in gamer terms, it's a class change item. U can acquire the mage class with this stuff right here.

“ Mage seems handy, I mean that Alfonso guy didn't even move from the alter but he kicked both our asses”.

You can have it if you want it. I don't like ranged classes as much.

“Oh really?, now I see why you ran straight up to a mage to end up getting your ass handed to you”.

At least I didn't get barbequed I retorted.

“Any ways thanks for the tome, you can keep the rest of the loot, hehehe”.

There isn't really much 'loot' you know?

“ How do I use this tome thingy?“

Simple just read the notes and try to imitate what it says, the game actually expects you to put in a bit of work.

Oh and you have to reach level 10 first, combat classes only come after level 10.

“ If that's the case then how will players gain levels?“

By fighting of course, they just don't get any skills or classes till level 10.

“That doesn't make any sense”.

Lemme break it down to ya I said immitating an accent.

Rebirth online starts as a survival game, but that only for a little bit, over time players will find different ways to hunt and gain levels. Depending on the methods and tools used while grinding levels, the system will update different career paths and job classes to players.

“ How does it do that?“

It's called the destiny engine, let's say for example there are two players, Mr A and Mr B.

Mr A doesnt like Fighting as much and just enjoys the survival path of the game. Everyday he finds food and builds different tools, shelter etc just a regular survival game. When he eventually reaches level 10, he will only have career paths like builder, tinkerer etc. that way he can work and not get into fights anymore since he can level his career by building stuff and thriving.

“Then how about me B?“

I was coming to that.

Now Mr B likes to hunt with a makeshift bow and arrows, when he reaches level 10 he will get a combat class like Archer or something of the sorts.

Technically the destiny engine takes what you live doing in game and gives you a path that suits you.

“Then how do players get magic related classes?“

Oh that is either from loots dropped by bosses, joining a cult or becoming the apprentice of another player.

“ Apprentice of another player, that's quite reasonable”

It gets way better the higher level you become, you won't believe it.

I'm excited for what the future holds, that “battle in the lair was something straight out of a movie, to think I experienced something like that is still a surprise to me”

“To a long lasting partnership” she said jokingly.

To a long lasting partnership I reply while checking her out from the side, she was currently wearing my shirt and the systems default underwear. It was a sight that got my blood boiling for some reason.

“ So whats the plan now?“ She asked

Well we need to get to level 10 within the next three days, I have somethings to take care of irl( in real life) from Monday.

“ That Alfonso guy didn't give us any exp at all, quite stingy actually”

That's because we didn't win the fight, he got away.

We aren't capable of defeating someone of that calibre, the difference between a level 10 and a level 9 can't be bridged without outside factors.

“ You said you wanted something from the dungeon, right?"

It was the first dungeon find reward that I was after, it will save me a lot of grinding time.

“ Kinda underwhelming for what we went through”

Come on, the whole battle took less than 40 seconds

“ You weren't turned into a living barbeque”

No, I was used as human spear, we all had our share of the fun.

Reaching the outer parts of the forest we can now see other players again scrambling and moving about, everyone seemed so busy with a few doing nothing and just enjoying the scenery or chatting.

Athena-sama and I found a relatively good spot to make camp for the day, by now most the rubble and parts from the ship had been taken by other players showing great resourcefulness.

A few players had even made a basic shelter by the time, it was truly surprising how fast things were developing.

Some players even formed groups making things way easier and faster.

So do you know how to make some kind of shelter?, I asked Athena-sama.

“Ye sure” she replied, “ daddy was really into wilderness survival stuff, so I kinda inherited his passion for stuff like that”

That's perfect cause I'm clueless.

How about you make shelter and I provide food and water plus whatever we need for a campfire.

“No worries I'll done In no time”

dont put in too much effort, we won't stay here for long, just till we hit level 10.

I moved into the forest searching for edible fruits we could use to fill our hunger bar, I didn't want to hunt for meat cuz it would taste awefull without spices and stuff, I didn't want to put myself through torture just yet.

After an hour I was back at our spot on the beach carrying the fruits first, then going back for the wood I pilled up in the forest, I got to the spot I kept them but found nothing. Wtf stole my wood?.
