CRACK!

Another blow landed hard across James's already swollen cheek, sending him staggering to the side.

Katherine barely had time to breathe before—

THWACK!

Her head snapped in the opposite direction, her vision blurring from the impact.

The once-pristine atmosphere of the 7 star  Restaurant's grand hall now echoed with the sharp sounds of punishment. Crystal chandeliers cast unforgiving light on their humiliation as the assembled business elite watched in terrified silence.

James, once standing tall with arrogance, had been reduced to a trembling mess. My reputation, my career, everything I've built—gone in an instant, he thought, panic rising in his chest.

"Is this all the fight you have?" Chairman Hargrove sneered, adjusting his immaculate cufflinks. "Pathetic."

Katherine's makeup streaked down her face, tears mixing with blood. The expensive silk blouse she'd chosen so carefully that morning was now stained and rumpled.

"P-Please... Chairman Hargrove..." James begged, his voice barely recognizable. "W-We were wrong... We shouldn't have spoken out of turn..."

There must be a way out of this nightmare, Katherine thought desperately.

Katherine followed James's lead, her knees hitting the cold marble floor with a painful thud. "I-I was blind! I didn't know what I was saying!" she stammered, her pride dissolving with each word. "I shouldn't have disrespected you!"

"Oh, now you're sorry?" Chairman Hargrove laughed cruelly. "When you thought you were untouchable, you had so much to say. Where's that confidence now?"

CRACK!

Another blow sent James sprawling across the floor.

"You worthless piece of trash," one of the CEO's men spat. "Did you really think people like you could play in our league?"

Katherine screamed, her designer heels skidding on the polished floor as she tried to back away. Outside, rain began to lash against the tall windows, as if nature itself was joining in their punishment.

A low, cruel chuckle cut through the tension. James's heart froze in his chest as he painfully lifted his head.

There stood Yemin—untouched, unbothered, amused.

"This is getting boring," Yemin said, his tone mocking yet laced with undeniable power. "How much more do you want to embarrass yourselves tonight?"

Katherine felt her stomach knot. The partnership... we still have the partnership, she thought frantically. That's our only lifeline.

Summoning her last shreds of courage, Katherine forced herself to her feet. Her legs shook violently, but she managed to look Chairman Hargrove in the eye.

"You can't do this to me," she rasped, defiance flickering through her pain.

Chairman Hargrove raised a brow, almost amused.

"I have a signed contract with Ravol Company!" Katherine continued, voice gaining strength. "If you cancel it now, there will be consequences!"

James quickly nodded, sensing a possible escape. "Y-Yes! You need us! Our company is valuable!"

Please work, please work, Katherine thought, heart pounding painfully against her ribs.

"You cancel our deal, and you'll be the one losing money," she added, straightening her spine despite the agony coursing through her body.

The entire room went still. Rain drummed harder against the windows, filling the silence.

And then—

Chairman Hargrove laughed—a cold, merciless sound that sent chills down Katherine's spine.

"You really think you're still valuable after everything that's happened tonight?" he asked, his voice dripping with disdain. "Look at yourselves. Broken. Pathetic. Begging on the floor like dogs."

Katherine's breath hitched as panic set in. No, no, no...

"Your contract with Ravol Company?" Chairman Hargrove's lips curled into a sneer. "It's officially canceled."

The words hit Katherine like physical blows. She staggered backward, her face draining of color.

"N-No... You can't..."

"Chairman Hargrove, please!" James begged, his voice breaking. "We'll fix this! We'll do anything!"

Chairman Hargrove's expression turned cold as ice. "I don't work with rats."

The sudden silence in the restaurant was deafening. Katherine's sobs were the only sound cutting through the tension as she remained crumpled on the floor, her perfectly curated image now shattered beyond repair.

Faye watched the scene unfold with growing discomfort. Despite everything Katherine had done to her, seeing her former friend reduced to this state twisted something in her chest.

"This can't be happening," Katherine whispered, her voice barely audible. "It's just a misunderstanding... it has to be."

But deep down, she knew something was terribly wrong. Her mind flashed back to earlier—Yemin casually eating lunch with the CEO, the easy familiarity between them.

And now, just hours after she had publicly humiliated him, she was facing this devastating punishment. It couldn't be a coincidence.

Was Yemin really the same man I thought he was all these years? she wondered frantically. The foolish house husband was really powerful?

She shook her head violently. No, it wasn't possible. A man like him couldn't wield this kind of influence. He couldn't possibly have the power to affect her business deals or make Chairman Hargrove this furious. There had to be another explanation. The CEO couldn't be this angry just because of Yemin. It was absurd, impossible.

Faye took a hesitant step forward, her heart pounding. "Sir," she said softly, addressing Chairman Hargrove. "I think... I think they've learned their lesson."

Katherine's head snapped up, disbelief etched across her bruised face. After everything she had done, Faye was defending her?

Chairman Hargrove's expression remained unyielding. "Miss Langford, you don't understand the gravity of their insults. In our world, such disrespect demands—"

Yemin, standing silently at the edge of the confrontation, made a small gesture toward the CEO—a barely perceptible nod.

Chairman Hargrove caught the signal and paused mid-sentence. His demeanor shifted immediately as he studied Yemin's face. Though, Faye saw this gesture.

Without Yemin saying a single word, the CEO stepped back and motioned for his men to stand down.

"Consider yourselves fortunate," Chairman Hargrove said coldly, straightening his jacket. "Not everyone receives such... mercy."

It wasn't mere respect or professional courtesy. It was obedience. And that terrified her to her core.Who the hell is he? The question echoed in her mind, demanding an answer she couldn't fathom.Yemin had said nothing. He had merely raised a hand—a simple, elegant gesture—and just like that, the punishment had ceased. "That was a good one."Yemin's expression remained unchanged. "You don't believe me.""Of course not!" Faye shook her head, still smiling. "Everyone knows the chairman of A Group is practically a legend. He's built hundreds of companies from nothing. A Group is just one piece of his empire." She studied Yemin's face. "No offense, but you don't exactly fit the profile."What profile did she expect? Yemin wondered. An old man with a white beard? Someone who breathed fire?"And what profile would that be?" he asked quietly.Faye's smile faltered slightly. "I don't know exactly. Just... not someone who would let their wife treat them like Katherine treated you." She hesitated. "The chairman is supposed to be this mysterious,

"Because of him," Katherine spat, the word like venom on her tongue. "That worthless roach of a man—Yemin." James turned sharply. "And the worst part? Everyone at the restaurant… they saw. After what happened with Tommy, we can't risk offending him again."Yemin's lips tightened slightly. He knew more than he was letting on, but explaining would accomplish nothing at this point. Some lessons had to be learned through experience."That's a nice car for someone who was supposedly broke just weeks ago," Faye remarked, changing the subject.
