Katherine’s smirk vanished.

"Excuse me?!" she hissed.

The moment Chairman Hargrove saw Yemin standing just behind Katherine, a flicker of realization crossed his sharp features.

He understood immediately.

Yemin had been standing back deliberately, letting Katherine and James dig their own graves, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

He had let them mock him.

Let them boast about their connections. And now, in a single move, he had flipped the entire situation.

Katherine, still unaware of the growing tension in the room, snapped at him.

"Shut up, Yemin!" she hissed, her face twisting with rage. "You have no right to interfere in my business! You’ve already embarrassed yourself enough tonight—now get out before I have you thrown out!"

James chuckled beside her, clearly enjoying the shift in her frustration. "Honestly, Yemin, you just don’t know when to quit." He crossed his arms, shaking his head. "You’re like a stray dog that keeps coming back, no matter how many times it’s kicked."

Katherine, emboldened by James’s words, turned toward the security guards.

"Throw him out!" she ordered. "Now!"

The guards hesitated—after all, they had just seen the CEO greet Yemin personally.

Katherine, noticing their hesitation, snapped.

"Are you deaf?! I said throw him out!"

Then, her eyes gleamed with fury.

"And while you’re at it—break his legs!"

Silence fell over the room. For a moment, even James looked at her in surprise.

Faye’s eyes widened in horror. "Katherine—"

But before she could finish—

SMACK!

The sound of the slap echoed through the restaurant like a thunderclap.Katherine staggered backward, her head snapping to the side.

A bright red mark bloomed across her cheek. The entire room froze.James’s smirk vanished instantly.Faye gasped, stunned.

The security guards looked at each other, unsure of what to do.Katherine’s hand shot up to her face, her eyes wide with disbelief and fury.

The man who had just struck her?Chairman Hargrove. The CEO of Ravol Company.

The very man she had been trying to impress all night. And now, he was looking at her with undisguised disgust.

"You," Chairman Hargrove said, his voice cold as ice, "are an absolute disgrace."

Katherine staggered, barely able to process what had just happened.

"M-Mr. Hargrove… I—"

James couldn’t believe what he was seeing. His mind was still struggling to process what had just happened.

Katherine—the woman he had stood beside, the woman who believed she was above everyone else—had been publicly humiliated.

And Yemin?

The same "pathetic househusband" he had mocked for years…

Was standing there completely untouched, completely unbothered, as if this entire situation had gone exactly as he had planned.

It was impossible.James’s entire body tensed.

"This has to be some trick. Some deception. There’s no way Yemin has this kind of power!"

In desperation, he took a sharp step forward, pointing directly at Yemin.

"Chairman Hargrove!" he called out. "You’re making a huge mistake!"

The CEO turned his gaze toward him, unimpressed.

James swallowed but forced his voice to remain strong.

"That man—Yemin Ravollor—is a complete fraud!" James declared. "He’s nothing but a pathetic, broke loser who was just dumped by Katherine!"

The crowd whispered amongst themselves, intrigued by his claims.

"Yeah, didn’t she kick him out of their house today?"

"I heard he was just a househusband living off her money."

"Then why did the CEO defend him earlier?"

James, seeing that people were listening, pressed forward.

"This guy has been leeching off Katherine for years! He’s got nothing! No power, no connections, nothing!"

Then, with a confident smirk, he added, "And earlier tonight, he even had the audacity to lie and say that you—Chairman Hargrove—and President Marcus Chen had personally invited him to dinner!"

James let out a mocking laugh, his confidence returning.

"Honestly, I feel sorry for you, sir," he said, shaking his head. "You’re one of the most powerful businessmen in the country, yet here you are, letting this fraud deceive you."

He stepped closer, lowering his voice as if offering friendly advice.

"I suggest you punish him harshly for wasting your time."

For a moment, there was silence. Then—

Chairman Hargrove let out a small scoff.James blinked.

And then—"You idiot."

The CEO’s voice was low and icy, sending an immediate chill through the room.

James stiffened."Excuse me?" he said, his voice slightly wavering.

Chairman Hargrove took a slow step forward, his expression turning dangerously cold."Yemin Ravollor didn’t lie."

James froze. The air became suffocating. The CEO’s voice remained calm, but there was an undeniable edge beneath it.

"He was personally invited to dinner by me and Marcus Chen," Chairman Hargrove continued. "And not only that…"

His gaze hardened.

"You stand here, running your mouth about things you don’t understand—mocking a man who holds more power than you could ever imagine."

James’s breath hitched. He turned slowly toward Yemin, for the first time, truly seeing him.

The way he stood—composed, untouched, completely unbothered by the chaos around him.

The way Chairman Hargrove and Marcus Chen spoke to him—with respect.James’s confidence shattered.

"No… No, this can’t be right!"

Beside him, Katherine, still recovering from her earlier humiliation, looked at Yemin in complete horror.

"If he wasn’t lying… if he really was invited to the top floor… then that means—"

Katherine’s stomach twisted painfully.Meanwhile, Faye Langford stood stunned.

She had felt curiosity toward Yemin ever since he had stepped in to defend her.

But now?

Now she realized that there was far more to him than she had ever imagined.

"This is some kind of joke! There’s no way a nobody like him—"

Chairman Hargrove’s expression darkened.James felt it instantly. And then—

The CEO turned toward his subordinates.

"Slap them both."James’s eyes widened in horror.

"W-Wait—!"

SMACK!

A hand struck across his face, sending a sharp sting through his cheek.

Beside him—

Katherine yelped as another loud slap landed across her face.

James staggered, still reeling from the sharp sting on his cheek. His face burned, not just from the slap, but from the sheer humiliation of it.

Katherine clutched her own stinging face, her expression a mix of shock, rage, and disbelief.

This wasn’t real.It couldn’t be real.

The CEO of Ravol Company had just defended Yemin Ravollor.

And worse—he had punished them.

James’s breathing was uneven, his mind racing as he struggled to process what just happened.

"No… this has to be a joke… There’s no way Yemin is actually important…"

He glanced around, hoping to see signs of doubt in the others—hoping that someone else would speak up, that someone else would call this out as a mistake.

But no one dared. The room was dead silent.

People avoided eye contact, afraid to draw attention to themselves.

Even the security guards, who had once followed Katherine and James’s orders without question, now stood stiffly in place, afraid to act without the CEO’s permission.

James’s fists clenched."No! I won’t accept this!"

He lifted his head, forcing a smirk onto his bruised face.

"Sir, I think you’re misunderstanding something," he said, his tone desperate, yet forced. "Maybe Yemin fed you some lies. Maybe—"

Chairman Hargrove’s eyes narrowed dangerously.James froze mid-sentence.The air turned suffocatingly cold.

"You still refuse to understand, don’t you?" the CEO said, his voice low and unforgiving.

Katherine, still clutching her cheek, spoke up, her voice shaking but still clinging to her pride.

"Sir, we didn’t mean any disrespect," she said hurriedly. "But there has to be some mistake! Yemin is—he’s—"

"A man far beyond your reach."

Chairman Hargrove’s voice cut through her like a blade.Katherine’s heart sank.James’s breath hitched.

"You stand here, trying to humiliate him," the CEO continued, "yet you fail to realize that the only people who have been humiliated tonight… are the two of you."

James’s face turned pale.Katherine felt her legs weaken.

But the CEO wasn’t finished.

"You still don’t understand your place," he said coldly. "Perhaps another slap will help you remember."

He turned to his subordinates.

"Do it again."James’s eyes widened in horror.

"Wait—!"

SMACK!

The second slap landed harder, sending James stumbling back.Katherine tried to speak, but—SMACK!

Her head snapped to the side, another painful mark blooming on her face.

"Everyone knows the chairman of A Group is practically a legend. He's built hundreds of companies from nothing. A Group is just one piece of his empire." She studied Yemin's face. "No offense, but you don't exactly fit the profile."What profile did she expect? Yemin wondered. An old man with a white beard? Someone who breathed fire?"And what profile would that be?" he asked quietly.Faye's smile faltered slightly. "I don't know exactly. Just... not someone who would let their wife treat them like Katherine treated you." She hesitated. "The chairman is supposed to be this mysterious,
