Faye stood silent for a moment as Yemin's words settled between them. The chairman of A Group? Him?

Then, unexpectedly, she burst into laughter—a genuine, incredulous sound that drew curious glances from nearby tables.

"I'm sorry," she said, trying to compose herself. "That was a good one."

Yemin's expression remained unchanged. "You don't believe me."

"Of course not!" Faye shook her head, still smiling. "Everyone knows the chairman of A Group is practically a legend. He's built hundreds of companies from nothing. A Group is just one piece of his empire." She studied Yemin's face. "No offense, but you don't exactly fit the profile."

What profile did she expect? Yemin wondered. An old man with a white beard? Someone who breathed fire?

"And what profile would that be?" he asked quietly.

Faye's smile faltered slightly. "I don't know exactly. Just... not someone who would let their wife treat them like Katherine treated you." She hesitated. "The chairman is supposed to be this mysterious, powerful figure. Untouchable."

If only she knew, Yemin thought, watching her rationalize away the truth he'd just offered. How many people have seen only what they expected to see.

"The chairman is just a person," Yemin said carefully. "Not as mysterious as people make him out to be. Just someone who makes business decisions."

Faye shook her head again, more certain this time. "No. That can't be right. The man has never even appeared in public. There are no photos of him anywhere."

She studied his face, searching for signs that he was teasing her. Finding none, her brow furrowed. "Why would you even joke about something like that?"

Yemin observed her disbelief with quiet interest. She wasn't ready for this truth—not yet. Perhaps it was better this way. If she couldn't accept who he was now, what would happen when she learned everything else?

"You're right," he said, his lips curving into a slight smile. "I was just joking."

Relief washed over Faye's face. "I knew it! For a second there, I almost—"

"Chairman Hargrove likely changed his mind about your company because he saw its potential," Yemin continued smoothly. "Your proposal was solid. It's worth investing in."

A half-truth, he thought. Her proposal was indeed excellent.

Faye nodded slowly, but uncertainty lingered in her eyes.

But that doesn't explain why the CEO would help him humiliate Katherine and James so thoroughly, she thought, the pieces refusing to fit together in her mind. What kind of connection does Yemin really have with him? No mere "favor" would make the CEO of A Ravol Companyct like that...

Faye stirred her coffee absently, watching the liquid swirl as she processed the evening's events.

"I just don't understand," she said finally, looking up at Yemin. "The CEO of A Group personally called to help you. He seemed to know you well. Why would someone that powerful go to such lengths for you?"

Yemin considered her question carefully. She's perceptive. The connection would seem strange to anyone.

"It's not what you might think," he replied. "A few years ago, I happened to know an exceptional cardiologist—one of the best in the country. The CEO's mother fell critically ill with a rare heart condition."

Faye leaned forward, intrigued. "And you introduced them?"

"Yes. His mother's condition was deteriorating rapidly. Standard treatments weren't working. I heard about the situation through a mutual acquaintance and recommended this doctor." Yemin's voice softened. "She made a full recovery. Some debts transcend business."

In truth, I diagnosed her condition myself, he thought. Recognized the symptoms because I'd seen them before in my research. But explaining how I personally treated her would reveal too much.

Two businessmen at the next table leaned slightly closer, their conversation suspiciously quiet.

"That's incredible," Faye said, her skepticism fading. "No wonder he went so far to help you tonight."

Yemin nodded. "It was a matter of right place, right time. Nothing extraordinary about me—just fortunate to know the right doctor."

One of the eavesdroppers snorted quietly, whispering to his companion. Yemin caught fragments—"lucky break," "just some nobody who knew a doctor."

Faye noticed them too, her cheeks flushing slightly.

Let them think what they will, he thought, aware of the eavesdroppers. The assumption of insignificance has protected me for years.

Faye's fingers drummed nervously on the table. "I need to visit A Group next week to finalize everything. I've never been inside their headquarters before."

Yemin noticed the subtle change in her posture—shoulders tense, eyes darting. He'd seen that mix of excitement and terror in countless entrepreneurs before her.

"You'll do fine," he said gently.

"Would you..." Faye hesitated, looking almost embarrassed. "Would you come with me? I know it's asking a lot, but having someone familiar with the place would help."

"Of course," he replied without hesitation. "I'd be happy to accompany you."

Relief washed over Faye's face. "Thank you. That means a lot."

How dare he humiliate me like this, she thought, the memory of the restaurant scene replaying in her mind like a nightmare on loop. James paced back and forth like a caged animal."I can't believe that bastard," he growled, throwing his arms up. "Everything we built—gone, just like that!" "Because of him," Katherine spat, the word like venom on her tongue. "That worthless roach of a man—Yemin." James turned sharply. "And the worst part? Everyone at the restaurant… they saw. We’d like to appeal directly to the chairman.”The guards looked at each other, then back at her with practiced indifference.“You’re not on the approved list. "Grinning like she's accomplished something impressive."James scowled. "She probably slept her way to that contract. There's no other explanation."Faye noticed Katherine and James standing near the entrance. Her smile faltered as guilt washed over her. Taking a deep breath, she approached them."Katherine, I—""Save it," Katherine cut her off, voice dripping with venom. "Enjoy your little victory while it lasts. We both know your pathetic company doesn't have what it takes to fulfill a contract of this magnitude."Faye winced at the harshness. "I didn't plan for any of this to happen. Katherine paced her spacious office, her designer heels clicking rhythmically against the marble floor as she scrolled through her phone. The guest list for her birthday celebration was growing impressively—CEOs, socialites, and influential figures from across the city had all confirmed their attendance. Yet her victory felt hollow after the devastating loss of the Group A contract."James, I want this birthday party to be more than just a celebration," she declared, setting her phone down with purpose. "I want to use it as an opportunity to destroy both Morgan and Faye."James looked up from his laptop, a slow, menacing smile spreading across his face. "I like the way you think, darling. What did you have in mind?""I want to humiliate them so thoroughly that neither will ever recover—personally or professionally." Katherine's eyes gleamed with malice. Yemin leaned forward, his eyes focused intently on Faye as she spoke about the ring. The background noise of the café seemed to fade away as he waited for her answer."Actually," Faye said, stirring her coffee absently, "I think Katherine mentioned something about it when she was hurling accusations at me. But I'm not sure why you're asking about it?""I'm curious," Yemin replied carefully. "She mentioned you had a ring similar to one I own."Faye's brow furrowed as she searched her memories. "I did have a special ring once. It had an unusual pattern—almost like half of a complete design. I haven't seen it in years though.""Do you remember how you got it?" Yemin asked, his heart racing."It was a gift," Faye smiled softly at the recollection. "From a young boy, actually. I was maybe eleven or twelve at the time. I found him under a bridge during a rainstorm. He looked half-starved, poor thing."Yemin's breath caught in his throat. "What did you do?""I shared my lunch with him," Faye

We can talk about this," Faye said softly, glancing apologetically at Yemin who sat across from her at the café table."You stole everything from me!" Katherine's voice cracked convincingly. "And now you're with my ex-husband? How could you, Faye? I thought we were friends!""It's not like that at all," Faye insisted. "Let me explain—""If you still have any shred of decency left," Katherine interrupted, "meet me at Café Lumière in thirty minutes. Just you. We need to talk."The call ended abruptly. He strolled in wearing faded jeans and a simple button-down shirt, completely out of place among the tuxedoed waiters and designer-clad patrons."You couldn't dress appropriately for a place like this?" Alessia hissed as he sat down across from her.Yemin shrugged. "My appearance has nothing to do with how I can help you."Alessia eyed him skeptically. "Looking at you now, I'm seriously questioning if you can help me at all." Despite her harsh words, the memory of her father praising Yemin's capabilities after the poisoning incident kept her seated."Why don't you tell me exactly what you need?" Yemin said, ignoring the menu a waiter placed before him.

You're here," she said, stepping aside to let him in. "I was so worried when you disappeared from the party."As Yemin stepped inside, he was greeted by the unexpected sight of Victoria Shaw perched on Faye's sofa like a hawk ready to strike. Katherine stood by the window, arms crossed tightly over her chest."Well, well. The man of the hour finally arrives," Victoria said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "How gracious of you to grace us with your presence."Yemin regarded her calmly. "I said I would come. Here I am."Victoria

"They won't release him, Mother," she whispered, her voice trembling. "The chief said only Yemin can drop the charges. Yemin! That nobody!"Victoria's eyes narrowed as she studied her daughter's face.
