Outside 6th Star Restaurant, Katherine’s mother stood trembling with rage. She had just been thrown out. Thrown out!

Her breath came in sharp gasps as she glared at the heavy doors.

She had never been humiliated like this before.

Her fury only grew as she spotted the security team standing guard, their expressions cold and impassive. But one thing in particular made her blood boil—while she was kicked out, that cockroach Yemin had been personally invited inside.

That lowlife was sitting comfortably inside, while she was left outside like some common beggar?

Unacceptable.

Her nails dug into her palm as she pulled out her phone and dialed Katherine.

The moment her daughter answered, she snapped, “Katherine! That bastard Yemin is inside the restaurant right now, being treated like some VIP, while I was just thrown out like garbage!”

Katherine’s voice turned sharp. “What?”

“I was just outside, waiting to go in, and I saw Yemin. I merely reminded him of his place, and the next thing I knew, that cowardly manager came running out and threw me out! This is an insult, Katherine! Tell James to fix this right now!”

Katherine, seated beside James in a luxurious private room, clenched her jaw. “That bastard is here? Don’t worry, Mom. James will handle it.”

She turned to James. “My mother was just thrown out of 6th Star while Yemin was personally escorted inside. The manager must be insane. You need to deal with this now.”

James’ expression darkened. “That manager must have lost his damn mind. I’ll put those fools in their place.”

Katherine smiled, “ Thank you darling.” she turned to the phone, said smugly, “Mom. James wants to have a word with those jerks.”

Katherine’s mother’s anger eased slightly. That’s more like it. She turned to the head of security and held out the phone with a smirk. “James Franx wants a word with you.”

The security chief scoffed, took the phone, his face unreadable.

James didn’t bother with pleasantries. His voice was dripping with arrogance.

“This is James Franx. Do you have a death wish? Let her in. Now.”

The security chief’s expression remained impassive. “I’m afraid that won’t be possible, Mr. Franx.”

James scoffed. “You must not know who I am. I could buy this place if I wanted to.”

The security chief’s tone sharpened. “With all due respect, sir, this is the manager’s direct order. And I assure you, his authority in this matter is absolute.”

James’ smirk faded slightly. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“The manager was very clear. Mr. Marcus Chen and the CEO of Ravol Group are hosting an extremely distinguished guest on the top floor tonight. That means if your noisy, arrogant future mother-in-law keeps causing a scene, he won’t just ban her— he will throw YOU and your fiancée out as well.

James stiffened.

Marcus Chen was not just anyone. He was the right-hand man of one of the most influential figures in the business world. And Ravol Company’s CEO? That was a man who held the power to make or break careers.

They were someone he could not afford to offend. And here he was, dragged into unnecessary trouble because of Katherine’s mother’s arrogance.

His reputation—**his future—**was at stake.

That damn woman!

He exhaled slowly, forcing himself to swallow his pride.

“...I understand.” His tone had lost its earlier arrogance, turning cautious.

The security chief remained firm. “Then I suggest you act accordingly, Mr. Franx.”

James clenched his jaw. He couldn’t afford to make a wrong move.

He turned sharply to Katherine, his voice low but filled with irritation. "Tell your mother to go home. Now."

Katherine’s brows furrowed. "What? James, what are you—"

"The manager isn’t going to let her in," he interrupted. "And if she keeps making a scene, we’re the ones who’ll get kicked out next."

Katherine stiffened. "That’s ridiculous! We have a reservation—"

"I don’t care!" James snapped, losing his patience. "Marcus Chen and Ravol Company’s CEO are here, and the last thing I need is them associating me with some public embarrassment."

"If she lingers and this mess gets any worse, Ravol Company will remember your name in the worst possible way."James snapped.

Katherine’s frustration flared, but James’ warning sent a cold shiver down her spine.

She had worked too hard for the Ravol Company partnership to let something as foolish as her mother’s ego ruin it.

Grinding her teeth, she took back the phone.

“Mom, leave. Right now.” She snapped.

Her mother gasped. “Katherine! After the way they humiliated me, you expect me to just—”

“If you don’t leave this instant, you’ll be humiliating me even more,” Katherine interrupted, her voice icy. “James and I could be kicked out because of you. Is that what you want?”

Silence. Then a bitter sigh.

“Fine,” her mother spat. “But you owe me for this.”

The call ended.

Katherine exhaled sharply, pressing a hand to her temple.

"I wonder who they're dining with," James mused suddenly, swirling his wine glass.

Katherine looked up. "What do you mean?"

"The CEO of Ravol Company and Marcus Chen," James said, his voice tinged with curiosity and a hint of envy. "The manager mentioned they're entertaining someone on the top floor. Someone important enough that they're treating the entire floor like it's sacred ground."

Katherine's eyes widened slightly. "Someone even more important than the CEO?"

"Must be," James nodded, his ambitious mind already working. "Could be a foreign investor. Or maybe a political figure. Whoever it is, they must be seriously influential."

Katherine's lips curved into a thoughtful smile. "Wouldn't it be something if we could meet them? That kind of connection would be invaluable."

James straightened in his seat, smoothing his tie. "If we play our cards right tonight, maybe we will. The right introduction could change everything."

"Meanwhile," Katherine scoffed, her thoughts drifting back to Yemin, "my pathetic ex somehow managed to weasel his way in here. Probably paid off someone at the door. He always was desperate for attention."

James chuckled. "Forget about him. He's nothing. But this mystery VIP upstairs? That's someone worth our time."

"You're right," Katherine agreed, her ambition mirroring his.

But even as he asked the question, he knew the answer. Yemin Morgan's reach was apparently far more extensive than anyone had realized. While Justin rotted in his cell, Agent Collins was busy implementing his emergency protocol. The first stop was a rundown apartment building on the east side, where he found Marcus Webb, a low-level drug dealer who had witnessed one of the Sphinx's operations."Please, man, I don't want any trouble," Marcus pleaded as Agent Collins kicked down his door."You testified against my boss," Agent Collins said coldly, pulling out a silenced pistol. "That was a mistake.""I didn't have a choice! The cops said they'd put me away for twenty years if I didn't cooperate!""And now you're going away permanently."The gunshot was barely audible through the silencer, but Marcus Webb's body hit the floor with a definitive thud.Agent Collins's next stop was the office of forensic accountant Sarah Mitchell, who had been instrumental in tracking the Sphinx's financial

The chaos outside Justin Castellanos's building was unlike anything the city had seen in years.Camera flashes erupted like fireworks as reporters pressed against the police barriers, their voices creating a deafening cacophony of questions and accusations."Mr. Castellanos! How do you respond to allegations linking your company to multiple unsolved murders?""Is it true that you ordered the assassination of key city officials?""What about the bribes to judges and politicians?"Justin's face was a mask of barely controlled fury as he was led through the gauntlet of media attention. The handcuffs bit into his wrists, but the humiliation cut far deeper than any physical discomfort."This is a fucking witch hunt!" he snarled at the nearest reporter. "You vultures don't know what you're talking about!"A reporter from Channel 9 pushed her microphone closer. "Mr. Castellanos, sources say you've been operating a criminal empire for over two decades. Do you deny these charges?""I deny ever

"Sir, maybe we should lay low for a while," Vincent suggested cautiously. "Yemin is starting to look more dangerous than we initially thought. Maybe even more dangerous than his mother was."The mention of Elena Ashford only fueled Justin's anger further. "Don't you dare compare that upstart to her. Elena Ashford was a formidable opponent, but she was predictable. This... this is something else entirely."Before Vincent could respond, another subordinate burst through the office doors, his face pale with panic."Sir! Sir, we have a problem!""What now?" Justin snapped."The police are here looking for you, sir. They're asking questions and demanding to speak with you personally."Justin scoffed in disbelief, his anger momentarily replaced by incredulous laughter. "The police? Here? Do they have any idea who they're dealing with?""Sir, they seem very serious," the subordinate continued nervously. "They're not taking no for an answer.""Then go out there and remind them who signs their

"I know I have no right to be here after what I did."Yemin stepped aside, allowing her to enter. Marcus Chen gathered up some of the sensitive documents from the desk, giving them privacy while remaining close enough to intervene if needed."Faye, you don't need to—""No, please let me finish," she interrupted, her voice growing stronger. "You warned me that things would get dangerous and bad. You told me that being close to you would put me at risk, and I promised I would stand by you. I said I would be with you no matter what happened."Yemin watched her carefully, noting the pain in her expression. Prosecutor Alex Morrison shouted desperately, jumping to his feet. "This line of questioning is irrelevant to the charges!""Overruled," Judge Patricia Williams replied firmly. "The witness has testified extensively about intimate knowledge of the defendant's body. This question is directly relevant to her credibility.""It's a very simple question, Ms. Martinez," Yemin said calmly, his voice carrying clearly through the silent courtroom. "If you've seen me naked a hundred times over several months, surely you can describe what's on my chest and torso?"Rebecca's eyes darted desperately toward the prosecution table, silently pleading for help, but Morrison and his team had no way to assist her without revealing their knowledge of the fabricated evidence.Realizing she had to say something, Rebecca decided to t
