Damon wondered why his parents weren't asking him any questions at the moment, even though he was glad it was so, as he hadn't prepared an answer yet.
He knew he had to say something that would please them, or they might send him away or even kill him, calling him a monster.
He helped them gather the ones who were still alive, and together, they all set out to leave the town he grew up in. Not that he had any great memory of the place anyway, and he wasn't in his right mind to miss anything.
Just when he thought he wouldn't miss anyone, his mind flashed back to the small boy who saw him in the academy's hospital, and his heart raced again.
"Maybe he would have gotten killed, too. I heard almost all the students were killed, and only a few were able to escape. Out of the few that escaped, they are all with us at the moment, apart from a girl, and looking at the kids, none of them look like that boy, which means he must be dead, but why do I feel strange all of a sudden? Could the boy be trouble?"
Damon was lost in his thoughts as they ran into the bush. They all wanted to escape as far as they could before the beasts chased after them again. They made sure to kill the remaining beasts before they escaped so that none of the beasts would see them escaping, and they ran away before new ones could catch up to them.
Even Damon killed a few as he was almost as strong as the Elders and even stronger than most of them with the 55% of powers that he had at the moment.
They continued running, and after a while, they finally stopped as they were all tired. "We will rest here for a while and continue later. We need to get out of this vicinity as fast as we can before they catch up to us again." Lucas suggested.
Being the one who rescued them and led them into the forest to escape, the people had started looking up to him as their leader, and they were ready to adhere to whatever he said to them.
They all sat down to rest for a while, and that was when Lucas walked over to Damon, who was sitting with the other kids. "Marcus, can we talk?" He asked gently.
Damon's heart raced right then. He was scared, as he already knew the reason for the meeting he was about to have with his father, and he wasn't ready for it yet, but he knew he had to do it at one time.
He looked at the kids around him, hoping any of them could be of help to him; however, all of them were busy playing away as if nothing was going on at all, and the more mature ones were crying about the loss of their loved ones.
He stood up and walked toward his father. "You want to see me?' He asked with his eyes lowered. He found it hard to look at his father's face.
Lucas nodded. "Yes, we should walk away from these people so we can talk very well." He suggested, but that only scared Damon more.
"Is he planning to kill me there? He doesn't want people to think that he killed his son, so he wants to take me somewhere else and kill me there. Is that his plan?" Damon was already thinking ahead.
Having known that humans tend to fear what is more powerful than them, he knew he wasn't safe with them anymore, and if anything, he needed to be wary of them.
At the moment, he had 55% of power, and Lucas only had 20%, but being an adult, he was naturally still stronger than Damon, and that was a big disadvantage to the little Damon.
He looked around, hoping there was someone who could help him, but they were all humans, and he knew none of them would accept him for who he was. Just when he was thinking of this, he felt a hand on his shoulder, and his eyes widened.
"Marcus, what's it? Can I come with you guys?" It was his mother, Wendy's voice.
She saw what happened earlier, and she must have figured out that Damon wasn't a normal human, so she must want to find out what he was too. Damon's fear only increased with Wendy joining them, and he wanted to escape more.
"Why are you so pale, Marcus?" Lucas asked with a little smile on his face.
Damon quickly shook his head. "Nothing. I'm okay..." He replied. "Whatever, I already died once anyway. Who knows if I would return to my world if I die here? They should do whatever they want. They will be the ones with no child on earth, and I wonder if they will be able to hurt their only child anyway." He assured himself inwardly before he forced a smile."Yeah, let's go." He finally agreed.
"Can I join in? I have some questions to ask, too." Wendy pleaded and Damon nodded, agreeing with her. He already accepted his fate anyway, so whatever happened wouldn't faze him anymore.
They all found their way deeper into the bush and stopped when they figured they were far away from everyone else.
"So, will you tell me now? What am I? Or... What are we?" Lucas asked the moment they stopped and Damon let out a deep breath.
"We are vampires. The blood-sucking monsters people know..." He wasn't able to finish his words when he felt a stab in his stomach!

CHAPTER 37: ABSORPTION
Damon closed his eyes and slowly fell into the meditative stage. His consciousness blurred as he entered his own body, and right at the center of his belly, he could feel a drop of blood bubbling. The blood would grow and then decrease again. It was as if it was breathing. This shocked Damon. He had never seen anything of such before, and that beast, though strong, shouldn't be strong enough to create such a strange phenomenon in his body. Except that the beast was indeed strange. Damon couldn't understand why the blood wasn't dispersing in his body, but he also felt like the blood shouldn't hurt him either. Even if it did, he wouldn't let such a thing reside in his body. He steadied himself and began attacking the blood with the tiny energy of his body strengthening stage. He attacked continuously, but there was no effect. Damon didn't give up. One hour passed. Two hours passed. But the effect was still the same. Sweat was starting to form on his forehead. Damon opened h
CHAPTER 36: BEAST'S BLOOD
"We... We are sorry, Marcus. I'm sure Athos didn't know this." Lith apologized awkwardly. Damon looked at the guys, and he felt amused when he realised they were feeling bad for him. Why? They weren't the ones who killed his earthly family, so why were they feeling bad?He really couldn't understand these humans' thoughts. "It's nothing." Damon casually waved and walked over to his bed to sit. Right beside him was Martin whose gaze remained on him. The room fell into an awkward silence for a while before Luke cleared his throat. "Marcus," He called. Damon glanced at him. "Tomorrow, we are planning to visit the forest for our last hunting before the inner sect competition. Do you want to come along?" Luke asked. Lith perked up. "That's right. We want to grow a bit stronger before then. As you already know, our strength is among the weakest in the outer Sect, and if we are not careful, we might have to remain in the outer Sect for five more years. By then, it will be over for
CHAPTER 35: THE STRANGE BEAST
Damon was genuinely confused. He stared at the beast before him and slowly shook his head. "I'm not a beast." He had no time to wonder why he could understand the beasts' language. He knew he was running out of time. The beast also stared, seemingly confused. "You are not a beast?" It suddenly asked. Damon's brows creased. "I don't have this much time at the moment. Can you step aside, or do you want to fight?" He wouldn't let the beast cause his death. The beast frowned. "What do you think I'm doing? I'm here to kill you, of course!" It had lost its temper. Not only was the beast deceiving it, but it was also challenging its authority. How dare it?The beast's blood boiled. Damon swung his ICE sword and prepared for a fight. However, the beast immediately collapsed on the ground and began whimpering. "It's them." It cried out. "You are one of them. That sword... You are their new master!" It rolled on the ground, wanting to escape. "What do you mean?" Damon was confused. H
CHAPTER 34
Damon ran toward the direction of the forest. As the system had said, he only had a little more than two hours before he would die. Damon didn't want to joke with that. His life was important. If not for anything else, but for his family that died and for his revenge. He needed to stay alive and grow stronger. He ran as fast as he could, but the forest was far. He calculated the distance and concluded he would only get there in an hour or so. He had no such luxury. If he was to get to the forest around an hour, he would only have an hour left to look for a beast and drink it blood. What would happen if he was unable to find a beast within an hour? Wouldn't he lose his life then?Damon stopped on the way and panted hard. He wasn't sweating, but his breathing had turned ragged. He was exhausted. Running for a full thirty minutes without rest wasn't pleasant, and considering his failing health, he only grew more tired. He rested for a few seconds and began running again. Damon h
CHAPTER 33: DEATH IN TWO HOURS
Fred couldn't believe what happened. His eyes widened, and he glared at Damon. "You!" He shouted, but he was unable to complete his word when he fainted. Damon lowered his gaze to the sword in his hand. His brows furrowed. "This sword..." He mumbled. "Why is it so strange? The sword in this world should be low-level with little ability. Why do I keep feeling like this sword is even more powerful than the swords in my world? This strange feeling..." He was confused. When he struck Fred earlier, he could feel the overwhelming power that emanated from the sword. His heart had raced, and a feeling that the sword could kill him if he were to overuse it flashed in his mind. The sword was too powerful, and Damon was too weak. Weak... the word caused a bitter taste in his heart, but it only made him even more curious about the sword. "ICE Sword." He called, and he felt the sword tremble in his hand. His heart jolted. The sword had a spirit!"This..." Damon felt bewildered. "Swords with
CHAPTER 32: HIS FIRST FIGHT
Fred couldn't believe his ears as he looked at Damon. His curled-up body straightened up, and he turned around, seemingly searching for who Damon was talking to. "Are you talking to me?" He asked, his face filled with confusion. Damon frowned. He couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with Fred. "Martins, how much did you beat him? He doesn't seem to be alright," He whispered, looking at Martins, whose gaze was still on him. Martin's eyes twitched, and he smiled, "He's just too weak. A single punch was all it took for him to lose his mind," He replied, his voice filled with mockery. Fred gritted his teeth; no matter how low the boys' voices were, he was still able to hear them, and that annoyed him to the core. "Hey, Punk. Who do you think you are?!" He yelled. Martins could be proud, taking into consideration his strength, but you? You are only in the 6th stage of the body-strengthening realm, and you think you can talk in front of me? Aren't you being too cocky?" Fred m
