They found it before noon, exactly where Elarys said it would be — a tear in the world near the southern edge of the territory, close enough to the boundary that the light around it looked wrong, thin and grey against the healthy green of everything else Riven had built. A ring of dead grass surrounded it in a perfect circle, nothing growing inside the border, as if the land itself had already decided the rift wasn't part of the territory anymore.

[Target: Dungeon Entrance]
[Dungeon Name: Ashen Vault]
[Available Difficulties: Ordinary / Elite / Epic / Legendary]
[Estimated Duration Until Collapse: 24 Hours]
[Full Conquest Reward: Permanent Sub-Space Claim]
Riven walked the circle once, hands behind his back, reading the rift the way he'd read the Horde composition the morning before. No hesitation in the act itself — Identification didn't need him to touch anything to answer, and he'd stopped pretending it did the moment the gauntlet proved it days ago.
"Four difficulties," he said. "Same structure as the Horde. Higher risk, better reward, and nothing stopping me from picking the top one on the first try."
"You did that yesterday," Elarys said. "Twice, if you count sleeping through the first twenty minutes of your own victory lap."
"Then there's no reason to be more conservative today than I was then." He turned back toward the rift, its surface rippling faintly like heat over stone. "Legendary. We already know what my Shield Wall can absorb and what your skill can unravel. A Dungeon boss isn't going to be a bigger problem than an Extreme-threat Horde boss with two hundred bodies behind it."
"It might be a different problem," Elarys said. "Not bigger. Different."
"Which is exactly why we're going in with Identification running the whole time instead of guessing." Riven raised his voice, calling back toward the wall. "Squad Two. Ten units, Shield Wall formation. Elarys leads the strike."
They assembled fast — the same discipline that had held the line against Hell carrying straight through into a fight nobody had briefed them on yet, because nobody needed briefing anymore. Ten units in full Reinforced Armor fell into formation at the rift's edge, shields locked, and Riven gave the entrance one last look before stepping through.
[Difficulty Selected: Legendary]
[Entering Ashen Vault]
The world on the other side didn't look like his territory at all. Grey stone stretched in every direction under a sky that wasn't a sky — just more stone, arched high overhead like the inside of something built rather than grown. Torches burned along the walls with flame that gave no smoke, and the air carried a mineral taste that reminded Riven of the Blacksmith's forge on its hottest days.

[Target: Ashen Vault Interior]
[Enemy Composition: Stone Wraiths (Majority), Obsidian Golems, Vault Guardian (Boss, Confirmed)]
[Threat Level: Legendary]
[Recommended Approach: Ranged focus on Wraiths, melee containment on Golems]
"Wraiths first," Riven said, already moving. "They're the ones that'll swarm before the Golems even notice we're here. Archers, spread wide and pick them off before they close the distance."
The first wave came out of the walls themselves — pale, flickering shapes that peeled free of the stone like smoke given the shape of armored soldiers, blades made of the same grey material as the vault around them. Arrows passed through the first two without effect, and Riven filed the failure away as information instead of a setback.

[Target: Stone Wraith]
[Weakness: Physical strikes only effective post-Corporeal Shift; ranged attacks pass through Ethereal state]
"They're only solid when they attack," he called. "Shields up, let them come to you, hit them the second they take a swing."
The Shield Wall held its ground instead of chasing, and it worked exactly the way the correction demanded — a Wraith surged forward to strike, solidified for the half-second its blade needed weight behind it, and a locked shield caught it mid-swing before it could dissolve back into smoke. One Wraith fell, then two, then the whole first wave collapsing into grey mist that dispersed against the torchlight instead of leaving a body behind.

[Unit EXP Gained: 30 (Distributed)]
Elarys was already ahead of the formation by the time the Golems came into view, wings folded tight in the narrow corridor, blades drawn. The Obsidian Golems moved slower than anything Riven had fought yet — heavy, deliberate, each footstep cracking the stone floor beneath it — but Identification had already told him why that didn't matter as much as it looked like it should.
[Identification Activating...]
[Target: Obsidian Golem]
[Weakness: Core exposed after sustained damage to chest plating; core destruction is instant kill]
"Break the chest plate first," Riven said. "Don't waste time chipping at the limbs."
Elarys didn't need the instruction twice. She dropped into the first Golem's guard low, blade catching the seam along its chest where the plating met unarmored stone beneath, and the strike that followed carried the same unraveling quality he'd seen her use on the Ashmaw Devourer — not brute force, but something that came apart at a level deeper than the armor could account for.
[Skill Activated: Faith of the Unmade]
The Golem's chest cracked wide, a pulsing core of dull red light visible inside for exactly as long as it took her second strike to reach it. The whole thing collapsed into rubble a heartbeat later, and the corridor went quiet except for the settling dust and the low hum of torches that burned without smoke.
[Obsidian Golem Slain]
[Boss Encounter: Vault Guardian Approaching]
The Guardian didn't wait for them to reach it. It came through the far wall the way the Wraiths had, except at a scale that made the corridor feel suddenly much smaller — a towering shape built entirely from fused obsidian and grey stone, no visible face, only a wide crack running down its front where light the color of dying embers pulsed in a slow, steady rhythm.
[Identification Activating...]
[Target: Vault Guardian]
[Species: Ashen Colossus]
[Threat Level: Legendary]
[Notable Ability: Stonebreak Slam — area attack that shatters formations; Regenerative Core — slowly repairs damage unless the core is struck directly while exposed]
The correction settled over Riven with the same cold clarity that had carried him through the Devourer fight the morning before. An area attack meant the Shield Wall's usual strength — five bodies absorbing one impact — turned into a liability the moment the Colossus swung wide enough to catch the whole formation at once.
"Break formation on my signal," he called. "Spread wide, keep the Colossus guessing which direction to swing. Elarys, you're the one who closes on the core. Everyone else, keep its attention everywhere except on her."
The Colossus telegraphed its first swing with a groan of shifting stone, and Riven's call came half a second ahead of the impact. "Scatter!"
Ten units broke in every direction, and the Stonebreak Slam crashed down into empty floor where a locked formation would have stood a moment earlier, sending a shockwave of cracked stone rippling outward instead of a single crushing blow. Archers on the flanks loosed arrows into the crack along its chest, more to keep its attention split than out of any real hope of doing lasting damage, and it worked exactly as intended — the Colossus turned, slow and deliberate, toward the nearest flash of movement each time, never quite settling on the one threat that mattered.
Elarys came in low along the ground, wings tucked, using the Colossus's own bulk to stay out of its narrow field of awareness until she was close enough that distance stopped being a factor at all.
[Skill Activated: Faith of the Unmade]
Her blade found the crack in its chest, and the ember-light inside didn't just dim — it unraveled the same way the Devourer's hide had, the same way the Golem's core had, thread by thread faster than whatever passed for regeneration in a thing built from stone instead of flesh. The Colossus swung once more, wild and unaimed, before the crack split wide open and the entire structure came apart into a landslide of grey rubble and dying embers.

[Full Conquest Reward: Ashen Vault claimed as Permanent Sub-Space]
Riven stood in the settling dust and let that last line register fully before moving on to the rest. A permanent Sub-Space. Not a temporary reward that vanished with the Dungeon's collapse, but new territory that belonged to him for as long as he could hold it — grey stone corridors and torchlit halls folded into his Lord Space the same way the wall and the fountain already were.
[Rewards Received]

[Equipment Blueprint: Stoneplate Vanguard Armor (Epic Grade)]
[Hero Summoning Stone x1]
The last line was the one he'd come for, and it still landed with more weight than he'd expected. A single stone, sitting in his inventory the way the Bloodline Assimilation Stones once had, humming with the same low resonance of something that mattered more than its size suggested.
"There it is," Elarys said, landing beside him, no mark on her from a fight that had leveled a Legendary-difficulty boss in under ten minutes. "Your test."
"My test," Riven agreed, turning the stone over once in his palm. "Eighty-five Affinity, Grade SS, and now the one resource standing between theory and a second Barracks." He looked past her at the corridor stretching deeper into the Vault, more rooms waiting beyond the one they'd already cleared, more of his own land now than anyone else's. "Not today, though. I want the summon done properly, with time to watch what happens after — not squeezed in at the end of a Dungeon clear while there's still a Sub-Space to finish mapping."
"Patient," Elarys said, something almost like approval in her voice, though nothing in her tone suggested she was grading him for it. "That's new."
"Patient when patience costs nothing," Riven said. "The stone isn't going anywhere. The rest of this Vault might have more waiting in it, and I'd rather know everything my land holds before I decide what to do with the one thing I actually came looking for."
He pocketed the stone, checked the corridor ahead one more time through Identification's steady, familiar pull, and started walking deeper into territory that, an hour ago, hadn't belonged to him at all.
The Vault ran deeper than the fight had suggested — three more chambers beyond the one where the Colossus had fallen, each smaller than the last, connected by corridors lined with the same smokeless torches. Riven cleared each one the same way he'd cleared everything since Day One: Identification first, action only once the picture was complete.

[Target: Sub-Space Interior — Remaining Chambers]
[Contents: Storage Vaults (Empty), Collapsed Forge (Repairable), Ritual Chamber (Inactive)]
[Threat Level: None Remaining]
"Nothing left guarding it," Elarys said, running a hand along the wall of the second chamber, where the stone had a faint reddish vein running through it that hadn't shown up anywhere in the corridors before. "Just an empty vault and whatever we decide to do with it."
"A collapsed forge is worth more than empty," Riven said, already picturing the possibilities. "If it's repairable, that's a second production building I didn't have to build from scratch — no Blueprint requirement, since it already exists inside claimed Sub-Space. I'll have the Blacksmith unit assess it once we're back."
"And the ritual chamber?"
"Inactive doesn't mean useless." He walked its perimeter once, noting the faint circular pattern etched into the floor, similar in shape to nothing he'd seen in his own territory but familiar in the way the bloodline stones had felt familiar the first time he'd touched one. "Something built this on purpose, which means it does something. I'm not touching it blind, but it's not nothing either. Another question for later, once the more urgent ones are answered."
They finished the sweep without incident, and by the time they stepped back out through the rift into the grey daylight of his own territory, the wound in the ground where the Dungeon had first appeared had already sealed itself into a permanent archway — stone reshaping around the entrance the way the wall's damaged section had reshaped around the repair crew's work that morning. A door now, not a wound. Something his, not something that had simply happened to him.
"Population's going to want to know what just changed," Elarys said, glancing back at the arch. "A hundred and sixty-one of them, and most have never seen a Sub-Space claimed before."
"They'll find out the same way they find out everything," Riven said. "By watching it get built into something that keeps them safer than they were the day before." He looked at the Hero Summoning Stone once more before letting the thought settle, patient the way he'd told her he could be, and turned back toward the Lord Hall to see what the rest of the day still had waiting for him.

Chapter 14: The Cost of Staying First
The Horde notification arrived before Brynhild's crew had finished the second wall section, cutting through the midday work with the same flat certainty every System message carried.[Space Beast Horde: Incoming][Estimated Arrival: Dusk][Difficulty Selection Required]Riven didn't slow his pace toward the Lord Hall. Level one through ten meant a Horde every single day, and he'd already built his morning around the assumption that today wouldn't be an exception just because yesterday's fight had been the hardest one yet."Hell," he said, the same word he'd chosen without hesitation two mornings ago. "Same as last time. Nothing about yesterday's difficulty told me to play this one safer.""Nothing about yesterday told you to play it harder, either," Elarys said, falling into step beside him. "You could hold at Hell for a while and just let the territory keep growing underneath it.""I could," Riven agreed. "But I've got a wall section that's already stronger than anything the Devourer
Chapter 13: The Weight of Loyalty
Riven waited until the following morning before he touched the Hero Summoning Stone again. Not out of hesitation — he'd made that mistake once already with the gauntlet and wasn't interested in repeating the pattern — but because a decision this size deserved a full day's rest behind it instead of the tail end of a Dungeon clear. Chapter 11: What Hell Left Behind
Riven woke a second time that morning, though he hadn't remembered falling asleep at all. He'd meant only to sit down against the base of the new tower for a moment while the repair crews worked, and the next thing he knew Elarys was crouched beside him, one hand steady on his shoulder."You've been out for twenty minutes," she said. "I let you have them.""Twenty minutes I didn't budget for." He pushed himself upright, joints stiff in a way that had nothing to do with injury and everything to do with a night that had ended in combat instead of sleep. Around him, the field told its own story — scorched grass in wide black patches, the wall's damaged section already climbing back toward full height under a dozen busy hands, and the fountain at the center of the yard still pulsing its slow, steady gold.[Wall Integrity: 88% → 94%]"Faster than I expected," Riven said, watching stone knit itself seamless under the crew's work."Development Level thirty buys you a faster repair crew," Ela
