Chapter 39: hello brother vulture, I came here to fetch firewood

After running for a while, Charlie summoned his avatar and his running speed increased greatly.

I will never come to this place, never in my life. Charlie thought in his mind as he shivered from the increasing cold he was feeling as he traveled through the ice plain.

When he got there, he saw badly mutilated bodies lying scattered on the ground at the entrance of the ice cave. He quickly hid in a hole beside him as he watched the beasts finish off the last person on the battlefield. The attack was brutal and cruel. The large ice creature cracked open the man’s skull as he picked his head with its metallic beaks, fished out his brain, and swallowed it whole.

Charlie watched as the over thirty remaining beasts left the ice cave, to join the other beasts at the main battlefield.

“Mission failed!” Charlie said as he turned back to leave the ice cave. But he suddenly stopped in his tracks, a strange feeling had returned. Something was compelling him to go near the corpses of the over twent
