Not much different from Gideon, who was extremely confused, Elena’s smooth forehead also furrowed because the answer sounded strange to her. As far as she remembered, the boy did not like Victor very much in the past, and often even avoided contact with him.
Her chin was raised somewhat high as she observed Lucan. Her movement was somewhat awkward because before cultivating, Elena had always been more accustomed to lowering her head when speaking with her disciple.
“Lucan,” she called softly. “If you want to ask to be accompanied by another disciple, just tell me. I will immediately replace him with a disciple you prefer more.”
Lucan’s black eyes met Elena’s gaze with a firmness the woman had never seen before. Elena’s heart trembled because of the sharpness in Lucan’s gaze.
“There is no need, Master Elena. I am already quite satisfied with Senior Victor.” Lucan respectfully bowed to Elena to express his deep gratitude.
Elena sighed inwardly. Even though Lucan had repeatedly stated that this was what he wanted, Elena still felt somewhat uneasy.
Not only that, Elena’s efforts to help Lucan were often misunderstood by the other disciples as favoritism. In fact, the attention she gave to each disciple was the same, depending on their needs.
“Lucan, I don’t understand.” Elena decided to reveal the confusion that had been weighing on her heart. “Aren’t you afraid that Victor will treat you harshly?”
Before Elena left a year ago, she often saw Lucan being reprimanded quite harshly by Victor. Sometimes, Elena even thought Victor would hit Lucan to vent his frustration.
“Did someone force you to choose Victor?” Elena asked again.
Actually, when she came out of meditation and heard what had happened to Lucan, Elena suspected that it was not an accident, but intentional. That was why Elena emphasized to Lucan to tell the truth. However, until the end Lucan did not say anything about Victor and instead asked the young man to become his accompanying senior!
“Master Elena, Senior Victor is indeed emotional, but he has no bad intentions,” Lucan said, making Elena’s eyebrows draw together. “While Master was away, Senior Victor often secretly helped guide my magical training.”
Elena’s eyes widened.
Were they still talking about Victor? Her arrogant and self-centered disciple?
“Really?” she asked uneasily.
Pressed further with questions, Lucan felt slightly annoyed by Elena’s attitude. This was one of the reasons why Lucan could not protect himself, being too spoiled and accustomed to being protected. Even though Elena’s intentions were good, the woman’s gentleness had become Lucan’s death hammer.
In his heart, Lucan sighed. Although he thought that way, he could not bring himself to say what was in his heart. The woman with skin as white as snow and a slender waist looked so fragile. If she knew what had actually happened to Lucan, Lucan was certain Elena would blame herself greatly.
At a glance, Elena was no more than a young girl who was vulnerable to being hurt. However, when Elena examined his energy earlier, Lucan had also examined the woman’s energy level and knew that Lucan’s master had reached the level of a high-level Mage, a sufficiently high level–although it was incomparable to Lucan’s level in his old body.
Lucan took a deep breath in an attempt to suppress his irritation. After all, Elena was a master with a sincere heart. Everything she did was to protect Lucan, the original owner of the body now inhabited by Lucan.
His eyelids blinked as Lucan lowered his head. “This disciple understands what Master is worried about, but this disciple feels Senior Victor is a good companion. His hot-tempered attitude naturally comes from his intention to guide this disciple to become better.”
“Gideon is more understanding than Victor. His magic level is also higher,” Elena said.
“This disciple has his own calculations, Master,” Lucan replied, wanting to emphasize that he was not a reckless person who made important decisions without thinking carefully.
Beyond Elena’s knowledge, one of the main reasons Lucan asked Victor to become his senior guide was to secure himself!
With the responsibility as an accompanying senior, Victor would not be able to touch Lucan. On the contrary, the man had the obligation to ensure that no one else disturbed Lucan!
That was the main reason Victor was so angry when he received Elena’s order!
If Victor could treat him like trash in the past, now Victor had to ensure that his junior fellow disciple was not even scratched.
On the other hand, being under Gideon’s guidance was a threat to Lucan.
Elena’s eldest disciple had a cautious attitude, evident from his first meeting with Lucan on Mount Mistveil. Gideon was the first person to critically point out the differences between Lucan and Lucan.
It was precisely that sensitivity that Lucan wanted to avoid. He would not be free to train his magic if he were under the watch of the observant Gideon.
“Calculations?” Elena’s eyes narrowed slightly because she wanted to dig for more answers from Lucan.
Lucan had changed so much, and that was enough to make Elena suspicious. If not for Lucan’s wounds and magical energy that Elena recognized, then perhaps the woman would be certain that Lucan was someone else!
The old Lucan had indeed been cowardly and shy, but in front of Elena he had been very cheerful and talkative. In contrast, the Lucan in front of her was quiet, calm, and every word that came out of his mouth was always considered carefully, as if it were part of a frightening grand plan.
Lucan smiled faintly. “Harsh tempering is needed to forge a sharp sword, Master,” he said briefly, making Elena startle. “If Master keeps spoiling me, when will I be able to become stronger?”
Lucan’s head then lowered, his expression looking gloomy.
“Besides, I don’t want to attract the attention of the other disciples,” Lucan added after remaining silent for a while.
“What do you mean?” Elena asked sharply. She did not understand and was even slightly surprised to hear Lucan’s statement.
“Senior Gideon should be guiding the disciple who is at the seventh level, rather than bothering to take care of me, who am still at the first level.” Lucan explained. “Allow me to struggle together with the other disciples to prove that my ability is just as good as theirs.”
The words Lucan chose carefully left Elena stunned for a moment. She did not expect that Lucan had truly grown up … her weak disciple was now trying to rise with his own hands.
“I also want to prove to the other disciples that Master Elena’s choice to save me back then was the right choice.”
Hearing that, Elena closed her eyes and smiled, feeling proud of her disciple who had truly grown up.
“I understand.” She patted Lucan’s shoulder warmly. “Since you have made your decision, Master will not interfere anymore.” The woman walked toward the exit while saying, “Rest, three days from now you will begin training together with Victor.”
Elena left the room with graceful and light steps, leaving behind the faint scent of flowers even after she had gone farther away.
The smile on Lucan’s lips did not last long. His face became expressionless again as soon as Elena’s footsteps could no longer be heard.
“Why didn’t you expose Victor’s wickedness?” An unfamiliar voice called out from behind Lucan.
Lucan’s shoulders tensed. His eyes became alert as he turned around.
“Who is there?”

Fry, the Fried Chicken
Lucan did not know how it happened. Perhaps the contract occurred when the little chicken fell onto his face. However, the contract was clearly a one-sided contract that Lucan had not agreed to, and this showed that the little chicken had devoted itself to him. With a one-sided contract, whatever happened to the little chicken would have no effect on Lucan. It was different from a contracted familiar with the consent of both parties. If the familiar was injured, then its master would also be injured. And vice versa. However, putting that fact aside, Lucan still did not want it. After all, the little chicken was so talkative and could not stop chirping!“You’re happy, aren’t you? Not everyone can be as lucky as you! I–”Unfortunately, no matter how much Lucan did not want it, he had no choice. Even after repeatedly driving the little chicken away, the annoying creature refused to leave and continued following him. From that moment on, Lucan’s days no longer felt peaceful because of the

His eyes became alert as he turned around.WHOOSH!Three silver needle blades shot rapidly from Lucan’s fingers. Straight toward the source of the mysterious voice that had startled him.CLACK! CLACK! CLACK!“Ah!”Following the sound of the needles that embedded perfectly into the wooden wall of the room, a child’s scream could be heard.Lucan stared at the silver needles that had struck the wall precisely. Their blades were still trembling because of the force of the man’s movement.Directly beneath the three needles was a yellow creature that was half-crouching while observing the weapon that had almost taken its life. The chick-like creature trembled in fear, even its beak shaking. With watery eyes, showing that it was on the verge of tears, the creature looked at Lucan with a pitiful expression.“C-cruel! Cruel human!” It took several steps forward, avoiding the

Lucan’s Request
“Fully responsible … for Lucan?” An awkward laugh escaped Victor’s mouth to conceal his anger. “Why?”Elena did not laugh along. Her almond-shaped eyes met Victor’s gaze sharply. “As the third strongest disciple and at the same time the guide for the first-level disciples, naturally you are the most suitable person to accompany Lucan in his magical training.”“B-but Lucan hasn’t even reached first-level Mage, Master Elena! He will only have difficulty when he joins the other disciples.”It sounded concerned, but what Victor actually meant was … he was unwilling to take on a burden like Lucan! At this moment, Elena smiled. “Don’t worry, Lucan has already managed to clear his Mana pathways. In three days, he will be able to train with the other disciples.”Victor’s mouth opened again, agape at his master’s statement. ‘The idiot cleared his Mana pathways?’ He glanced at Lucan with an incredulous expression. ‘How is that possible?!’Before Victor could object to her words again, Elena spo
Victor Receives His Punishment
Victor walked hesitantly, as did his two friends following behind him. Their usually long strides were now deliberately slowed down to stall for time.“What are you doing? Master Elena has been waiting for a while,” Gideon reprimanded impatiently. He had already walked ahead to lead the group, but was forced to turn back again because Victor and his friends had yet to appear.“I’m not sure this is a good idea. Master Elena is still exhausted. Maybe this meeting can be postponed so she can rest first,” Victor replied.“What Senior Victor said is true. It would be better for Master Elena to rest first,” one of his followers chimed in.Gideon narrowed his eyes, observing Victor who stood anxiously. Especially when Victor used his sleeve to wipe the sweat from his forehead.“What are you actually afraid of, Victor? I’ve noticed that you’ve been acting very anxious, as if you’ve just made a serious mistake.” Gideon walked closer to observe Victor’s eyes more clearly.Victor brushed his han

“Lucan?” Elena called her student again, bringing Lucan out of his thoughts. “Do you mind?”Elena’s face looked serious, making Lucan unable to avoid it if he did not want to arouse her suspicion.“No, Master,” Lucan replied as he extended his hand and allowed Elena to examine his Mana pathways.Elena closed her eyes, then placed two fingers on the pulse of Lucan’s wrist, examining the flow of the man’s energy. The next second, Elena was startled when she felt the smooth flow of Mana energy throughout Lucan’s body.Elena’s eyes opened quickly. “You managed to clear the blockage in your veins?!” she asked in surprise. “Not only that, you have already reached first-level basic Mage level?!”This was a miracle.Since Lucan was still a baby, Elena had already known that the young man’s Mana pathways were blocked. Even so, Elena still insisted on bringing him to the Academy with the hope that high-quality potions could cure Lucan. Unfortunately, until the last time … every method they trie
