Lucan’s Request

“Fully responsible … for Lucan?” An awkward laugh escaped Victor’s mouth to conceal his anger. “Why?”

Elena did not laugh along. Her almond-shaped eyes met Victor’s gaze sharply. “As the third strongest disciple and at the same time the guide for the first-level disciples, naturally you are the most suitable person to accompany Lucan in his magical training.”

“B-but Lucan hasn’t even reached first-level Mage, Master Elena! He will only have difficulty when he joins the other disciples.”

It sounded concerned, but what Victor actually meant was … he was unwilling to take on a burden like Lucan!

At this moment, Elena smiled. “Don’t worry, Lucan has already managed to clear his Mana pathways. In three days, he will be able to train with the other disciples.”

Victor’s mouth opened again, agape at his master’s statement. ‘The idiot cleared his Mana pathways?’ He glanced at Lucan with an incredulous expression. ‘How is that possible?!’

Before Victor could object to her words again, Elena spoke once more.

“I hope this time you will take care of Lucan and ensure that he remains safe. If something happens again ….”

Elena did not finish her words. However, the sharpness in her eyes had already given Victor a clear warning.

If he allowed Lucan to be in danger one more time, Victor’s punishment would not end merely with kneeling at the Founder’s Altar!

Victor’s back was drenched in sweat when he realized that he no longer had a choice.

Suddenly, a voice spoke. “Master Elena does not need to worry.”

It was Lucan’s voice.

“Senior Victor will surely take good care of me.”

Lucan, who had been lowering his head all this time, now raised it, a faint smile appearing on his face. This made Victor feel slightly angry.

Ignoring Victor’s furious gaze, Lucan walked forward toward Victor. “Senior Victor surely won’t let anyone bully me, right?”

Lucan smiled faintly as he handed Victor’s sword, which had been left in his room, to him.

Seeing Lucan offering the object to him with a smile, Victor knew that all of this was Lucan’s doing!

This was Lucan’s way of ensuring that Victor could not do anything to him!

Victor’s jaw hardened while his eyes began to redden. ‘Bastard!’ Victor cursed inwardly while clenching his fists with all his strength.

If they were alone, he would beat that insolent young man to death! However, Elena was still in the room, so Victor could not do anything.

Victor forced a smile and took his sword while saying, “That’s right. Junior Lucan is absolutely right.” With eyes full of anger, he said, “Senior will make sure nothing happens to you.”

Hearing that, Elena smiled gently, proud of the harmony between her disciples.

As she looked at her two disciples, Elena could see the striking difference between them. Victor possessed extraordinary strength and ability, but he seemed to have difficulty controlling himself when dealing with others.

On the other hand, Lucan, who now had a calm appearance, was very weak. However, he was very skilled at maintaining the demeanor of a high-level Mage.

‘I hope the two of them can learn from each other,’ Elena thought hopefully.

A hope that no one knew when it could be achieved.

“If that’s the case, you may leave now, Victor,” Elena said.

Victor saluted Elena, then threw a murderous glance at Lucan for a moment before finally nodding his head.

“Goodbye, Senior Victor,” Lucan said while respectfully bowing to see his senior off.

Victor put on an annoyed expression, but he did not dare say anything and ended up leaving.

Just as Victor opened the door, he saw two other disciples and Gideon waiting outside. Without saying anything, Victor snorted and left the courtyard, making his two friends run after him while Gideon stood confused on the terrace steps.

Lucan straightened his body and watched Victor leave with a cold gaze. There was a dangerous and calculating gleam in his eyes as he observed his new senior.

‘That was easily settled,’ Lucan thought.

Compared to the past when he had faced the elders of the Order of Rosethorn or the leaders of other Orders, Victor was nothing.

‘Just a brat controlled by his own arrogance,’ Lucan commented inwardly again.

While Lucan was busy with his thoughts, Elena observed Lucan, who was watching Victor leave. She then stood and asked, “Are you happy now, Lucan?”

At the question, Lucan snapped out of his thoughts and quickly turned to face Elena. He smiled faintly and nodded.

Lucan’s voice was filled with satisfaction when he said while respectfully bowing to his master, “Thank you, Master Elena, for being willing to fulfill my request.”

Gideon, who was outside the door, was immediately stunned. He had heard most of the conversation of the people inside the room earlier. However, he had not expected that the one who asked Victor to become his accompanying senior was Lucan himself.
