"Spread out." David instructed, they all complied as waves of dark matter spread across the cave. The shrieks of the soul eaters filling their ears.

Meralda charged at the witch, punching her fist at it. It dodged, hurling another wave of dark matter at her which she blocked, arms crossed.

"You are quite feisty." It mocked, blasting her with a force that threw her a few metres backwards.

"Are you alright?" Historia asked, helping her up.

"I'm fine, sister. Stay behind me." She responded, blocking her from the attack of a soul eater. The spirit was fast approaching and it tackled her, scratching at her with it's claws. She punched it off her and retreated to her sister's side.

"It's too fast." She spoke.

"I propose retreat." Historia suggested.

She looked at the heroes who fought valiantly against the Dragon.

David was on top of it, striking with his sword. It raised its head against the ceiling and he jumped off, avoiding being crushed into nothing.

"Aim for the joints." Eden

"She's awake." Meena spoke, leaving the woman's side. David had woken her up immediately the woman passed out in his arms and she complied. The woman slowly sat up, moving her face from left to right, as if to scan the environment for a threat, one she could not find. "You're okay. You're safe." David said to her, approaching her with his palm forward, making a calm gesture. She didn't say a thing, rather she drew her legs closer to herself and caught them between her arms wrapped around them. Tears began to trickle down her face and she started crying. "Calm down. You're alright now." He spoke, making to embrace her. "What is wrong?" He asked her as she relaxed in his arm. "They got to them. My family, my children. They took them all." She replied. "Who took them?" He asked. Her eyes suddenly widened, as though her reality dawned upon her. "They are coming after me. They are here." She spoke. In that moment, the horses began to neigh, stirring around the spot they were tied t

  • Ashes from the scales of Ares

David snuck through the window into his room. He was surprised by his friends who awaited him, arms held akimbo. He calmly took his cloak off and placed it on the bed, sitting on it. "I can explain." He spoke, they still said nothing, obviously holding back a lot to say. "Before you all rant, just know that I got something done already. I met with Gandu, we have the ways to kill a Dragon and I also got you guys a surprise." He spoke. "The one thing we're prioritising is your health. You seem healthy enough now." Meena spoke first, her voice always calm, always indifferent. "Instead of finding Gandu tomorrow, I've gotten what we need." He spoke. "Did you forget that we don't have weapons anymore?" Dana asked. "Well, all except Eder." She added, nudging him with her right elbow. "Fuck off." He grumbled, nudging her back. "See guys, that is the thing. I've sorted everything out, weapons included." He said, then selected all the weapons from the store, laying them on the floor. "

  • You've got a family with us

Meena stood at the Balcony of the Doctor's residence, staring into the setting sun. Below was her Bison Beast which the children had somehow had as amusement for themselves. As she watched them play, a small smile crept up her face, instantly fading as she heard footsteps. "Hey." A voice called. She turned around…it was David who was now dressed in a different outfit, although his cloak was still draped around himself. "Hi." She responded, returning her gaze to the sunset, one he joined her to view. He waved at the children who waved back, then faced her. "Why?" He asked. She withdrew from the balcony, now standing opposite him."Why what?" She asked. He chuckled, his arms folded. "You only wanted the reward, yet you supported the reward should be about Ladus even before you knew this place was a gold mine. So, tell me Meena. This isn't about gold. What is it truly about?" He asked her. She turned away from him to the railings, her arms folded on her chest. "You guys seemed good,

  • Leveling Up?

"He's still unconscious?" Dana asked, walking into the room David was laid in. Colleen sat on a chair placed by the window, watching outside as the day bloomed. "Yes. Dr Enitan came in a few minutes ago and checked his pulse, it's a steady beat. Meena also did her best to heal him. He should be up pretty soon." She responded, her face not leaving the direction it was, not even once. "This would have been us." She said. Dana shook her head, making to leave the room."You think I don't know that?" She asked, pausing. "I know we did the worst possible thing, but it was what he wanted, our safety over his." She added, leaving the room. "Careful, Audrey." She scolded the child who bumped into her on her way out. "I'm sorry." She responded, and she ignored the response, heading towards the stairs and down. Audrey walked into the room, scanning it. She slowly walked to David and sat on his bed, resting her head on his chest. "Please wake up." She whispered, an act that caught Colleen's

  • The Dark One(again)

"The Dark one." Colleen whispered, her legs shaking in fear as she backtracked. They all had the same glimpses of fear in their eyes and retreated except for David whose fear weighed less than theirs. He knew this was a game. To him, a challenge he had to overcome. "Well, player one. I must say I am impressed by your heroics." The huge, towering man spoke. His skin, robe, eyes all black. Yet, one could make out he was a living being with a form, a form physically impossible to overcome. "You're the Dark Lord." David finally found himself speaking, swallowing a lump of spit. "You seem short of words. Weren't you so foul against Orebon?" The Dark one asked. "Oh, I see it now. My reputation did no damage to you, but my presence does. How poetic. The prey finally meets the Predator." His voice bellowed. David's leg felt weak and wobbly. He had never felt this much fear before. It was as if his life was ending, restarting, then ending in a continuous loop."Where are you all off to? T

  • The Dark One

"Are you okay?" Colleen asked David who, lost in thoughts, jolted back to consciousness. "Yes, I am." He found himself responding, although he wasn't. "I know this all seems crazy. You just have to hold on." She added. He nodded, he could not find words to say to her. His next level, the mission still unknown, bore nothing but suspense and fear to his mind. "David, are you sure you're okay?" She asked, feeling the sweat soak his under clothe. They had settled at an inn for the night and ensured she shared the room with him just in case something like that happened. To the rest, especially the twins, her intentions seemed otherwise. Those thoughts were thoughts she did not dare to entertain. She was only his guide, his protector, not his lover or sexual pleasure. "I don't think I'm okay." He finally spoke, breaking the silence between them. "What is it?" She asked him, placing her right palm on his face. "My next level objective, it's unknown. I don't know what to do, could it m
