"Pretty good fight you put up." She said, pointing her sword at him.
"What the fuck was that?" He yelled, his arms held up in protest.
She ignored his question, her sword still pointed at him.
"What did you kill them with?" She asked with a serious tone.
"An item I got at the demos. Fangs from scorpo — venom." He replied.
"I've never seen a player do that before. Most have weapons, not this." She said. He was surprised.
"There were players before me? Wait. First, you bail on me after setting me up. Now, you reveal I'm not the first player. What the fuck is wrong with you?" He yelled.
"Did the Dark one send you?" She asked.
"Dark one? What the hell are you talking about?" She wondered.
"You're brainwashed. Sorry, David." She said then struck him.
Immediately, he blocked the attack with his sword. He broke free then jumped back.
"What the hell is wrong with you Colleen?" He asked.
She attacked again, striking at his head, he blocked the attack again and she immediately kicked his belly. Before he could regain his stance, she spun a kick to the back of his skull, causing him to fall forward and she struck her sword against his neck. To her surprise, the sword bounced off his neck and her hand.
"Resistance — 100%." The interface on his mind read. He was surprised.
"Wait." He said to her but she struck him in the side, causing him to fall.
"I don't know how the hell you did that, but I'm not letting you carry out the Dark one's mission." She said.
"Just when I thought you were my guardian Angel." He said, getting up.
"You fuck up." He continued, then charged at her. She also charged at him and delivered a quick punch to him. Upon contact with him, a blue light radiated off his body and she found herself being repelled by a strong force.
"Oh, I can repel kinetic energy. This is cool." David said excitedly. His excitement was cut short by a punch from Colleen to his face, throwing him off balance. She was incredibly strong.
As she made to attack him again, he swept her legs off the floor with a kick, then held her down with his hands.
"Colleen, what the hell is wrong with you?" He asked.
"Leave me alone. You're working with the Dark one." She yelled.
"There's no Dark one, just me." He replied, leaving her. She immediately got up and made a defensive stance.
"You claim to be a player, yet you have venomous fangs stored somewhere in you and your armour glows. These are abilities only the Dark one can gift you." She said.
"Wait, you say there were previous players. They were probably just test running the game and had not added these to player avatars recently." He explained.
"Everything about me has been genuine, one hundred percent, I swear." He added.
She scoffed as he stopped back.
"So, you're really a player?" She asked, unsure of what to make of him.
"Yeah." He replied. She sighed, she did believe him.
"I believe you." She said and stood up.
"Good. Now, why the fuck did you set me up?"

"We'll do our possible best to find him Mr. Hart. Take it easy." The police officer said as he left the house which had now been checked out.
Mr Brett Hart had informed the police about his son's disappearance and and investigation had immediately kicked off.
The police had their usual routine of filing a missing person's report, dusting for prints at the victim's home, checked out all CCTV footage, including the victim's apartment's and found nothing suspicious. Even the doorman didn't see him leave the house. With zero results for their efforts, all they could do was assure the man that's they would find his son. After all, it was their duty to do so.
Brett Hart sat in his son's living room, his head between his hands. He was saddened and frustrated. This was a time he wish he had been much closer to his son and not watch him drift away from him.
"Maybe he would not have disappeared." He wondered in despair.
"What do we do?" Sarah said, walking in. She had asked all of her friends and David's, yet none could confirm his location.
"We'll find him, I'm sure of that." Brett said, getting up. He looked on the wall and saw the frame of his wife's picture hung on it. A woman he missed.
"I'll always love you, Jasmine." He said, then walked into the bedroom once more.
He glanced around for anything unusual, but couldn't find a thing. Frustrated, he turned to leave.

"Good. Now, why the fuck did you set me up?" He yelled.
"Was I supposed to help you fight the beast to level up?" Colleen asked in response.
"You could have just told me before leading me into the bar." He groaned.
"And have you chicken out before you face your challenge? Hell no." She responded, laughing.
"You're mean." He grumbled.
"So, who's the Dark lord?" He asked, breaking the growing silence between them as they journeyed.
"Don't bother about it." She dismissed.
"The dark fucking lord." He pressed.
"Okay. He's a mage. He's someone you're to meet later on." She replied.
"You have a history with him." He said. She shot a mean glance at him, then looked ahead.
"Sunset in a bit. You need some rest." She said and turned to the next street.
"And watch you set me up against Mercenaries or armed robbers? Hell no."
"Just shut up. That was a one time thing." She scoffed.
"Will there be more of that in the future?"
"Maybe." She grinned as they entered the next town.
On a far hill stood a giant Wolf. It was watching David and Colleen from afar as they proceeded to the next town.
Hurriedly, it dashed off the hill into the forest, then stopped before a cave. It knelt, morphing into a man. The man walked into the cave and knelt before the darkness in front of him.
"Speak, my servant." A voice rumbled from the cave.
"Dark one. The player is here." He spoke.
"Player one. We await his progress." The Dark one said.
"My Lord, the girl is also with him.…The anomaly." The man added.
"Get them and kill the girl!" The Dark one Roared, causing the cave to tremble.
"Player one, you'll be damned."

"So, we failed." Colleen said after listening to David's explanation. He nodded, slapping his arm on his forehead. "My journey still continues." He said. Dana peeked at him, wondering if he was truly crazy. She knew she had been destined to meet Player one but this player was just suicidal. However, she held her thoughts to herself waiting for the rest's decisions. "Eden. Pyxis did kick out asses." Eder spoke. "Indeed, he did." Eden agreed. "I'll be damned to accept defeat." He added, his brother nodded in agreement. "Aregon saved us, but he ate Pyxis's heart after telling us he's coming for us. I say we take the fight to him." Eder said. Colleen sighed. "I'm beginning to believe boys are genuinely stupid." She said. "Maybe stupid, but I'll proceed on this mission. We survived Pyxis, we'll survive Aregon." Dana added. David smiled, he only felt glad for having this much support. "Okay. So we move on. We defeat Aregon and we all go our respective ways. Eder and Eden get the g
WHY?
"I'm going to change the world." Bill announced. "How? It doesn't make sense." Sarah asked, still confused. He chuckled, settling on David's bed. "You see, Virtual reality could be the next step to reality. The game practically enhances virtual reality synchronization with our reality. In a sense, humans get to live the lifestyles they want. Eat the food they want, have the adventures they want and still have the biological and financial values from the technology." He explained. He looked at Sarah who still looked confused. "Okay, you look at the value of money in real life, it works in a digital sense too. That's how it works. In-game value equates real life value. People don't have to fight wars, feel sick, work their asses off and die once this technology is applied to them and David is the first successful case although he's immersed in the game world." He added."So, you're saying people have consciousnesses in the game, with vege bodies?" She questioned, now getting the cle

"Else, you're fucking going to die." They spoke in unison, aiming their weapons at her. "Calm down boys." She chuckled, arms held in the air as though she surrendered."I have your money, Gold." She added and slowly put her hand in her pocket, bringing out a pouch of gold. She held it out for them slowly. One nodded, signifying to the other to take it and he did. "Pure gold." The second brother spoke, dipping his fingers through the pouch. "We're square?" She asked, her hands still in the air. "Maybe. Who's the hot shot?" The first brother asked, pointing at David who kept his gaze on Gandu who was making to escape. "A companion." She replied, turning towards them. "I see tensions are cool. If you don't mind, I'll be on my way." Gandu spoke."Not so fast." Colleen said, pulling him back to his seat. "Okay, what is it you people want?" He asked. "A mage. Necromancer, Undead army of bandits? Ring any bells?" David questioned. "Information like that costs a lot." Gandu replied
The start of an Adventure
It had been hours since the bandits were defeated and the town celebrated their victory. Dana had caught one for questioning but he wouldn't budge, after all he was an undead bandit. David sat in a corner, watching the celebrations go on. He was lost in thoughts, wondering how he would get home. "Would I have to keep killing?" He asked once more, staring at his now clean hands. The flashes of the kills he had so far replayed in his mind. He didn't even notice Audrey walking up to him, sitting by his side. "David." She softly spoke. He faced her, flashing a smile at her. "How are you?" He asked her. She rested her head on his harm, hugging him."Thank you for everything." She added. He knew again that he did good, killing off his conflicted thoughts. It was morning and the town was back to what it once was. The townspeople moved with their daily activities and the Doctor continued her practice of healing the sick and wounded. David woke up to the interface laying his next mis

"Fuck." David screamed. Dana instantly threw her shield, decimating the incoming arrows. "I did NOT see that coming." He stressed, his armour in protection of his body."At this rate, they're going to destroy the town. We have to get to them." Colleen said. "Thanks for stating the obvious. My concern is how we're getting up there." Colleen sneered. David pondered on his options. Maybe his enhancement would work, but it was a stretch. "Enhancement." He selected and his armour glowed in a bright blue colour. You guys get ready to attack any foot soldiers in the forest. I can jump up there to fight them." He instructed. They nodded, each understanding their roles. He made the jump. He stretched as much as he could, inching nearer the ship as arrows rained on him, their effect merely bouncing off his armour. Reaching the base of the ship, he gripped hard at it, tearing a small hole in through it which he used as a handle. "He propelled upwards once more, punching through their firs

David's eyes opened. He was stunned, how was he not dead?Still midair, his gaze met a shield, one that had obviously protected him from the arrow. A force threw him off balance, causing him to land on the floor. He looked up and saw someone fighting the bandits, using the shield to protect herself from the arrows. He sighted another bandit from an edge, aiming for her. Before he could warn her, he heard a loud roar, and a Tiger Beast pounced on the bandit, ripping their arms off their body.He watched on, amused as the person delivered quick, sharp blows to the bandits. He didn't even notice the Tiger beside him until it nudged his side. "Fuck." He screamed, then calmed. The lady who had saved him landed before him, rubbing the Tiger's head"Good girl." She spoke, rubbing it's neck. The Tiger purred meekly. "You must be the player." She said. He nodded. "Okay. So, the thing is, they're resurrecting pretty soon. They don't die except during night time, so I'll advise you to fo

"No, this can't be me." David said, looking at his bloodstained robe and hands. He looked ahead and saw Colleen who was already pacifying the child. The other townspeople who were around still continued on their regular activities, acting like nothing gruesome had just happened. "Level 2 completed." Read the interface on his mind. He was shocked, baffled, afraid. "I don't like this." He said, reaching Colleen. "Me too. This wasn't how the game should be." She replied. "He's not even a beast warrior or mage." She added. Something was wrong with the game, she felt it, she knew it. "I feel terrible, my guts feel filled with blood, I feel guilty." He spoke softly, still looking at his bloodstained hands. "Does this mean I have to be a ruthless murderer to get home?" He questioned once more. "Don't fret, David. I'm sure there's a possible explanation. We just need to find your next companions." She replied. "What's your name darling?" She asked the girl."Audrey." The child whispe

David and Colleen arrived at an inn in the heart of the town and they settled down in the room she booked for them. He ate the dinner he was served heartily, finally having a break from fresh fruit all day long. Colleen on the other hand looked outside the window, her gaze fixed on the sky. He stopped eating and looked at her lost in thoughts."What's wrong?" He asked. She sighed then faced him. "Nothing, it's just crazy how I'm supposed to feel free from being a non player character, yet I don't feel free. Here I am, helping player one pass through the game like I'm meant to." She replied. He didn't know what to say to ease her. Indeed, her words seemed true and she couldn't shake it off her mind. "I don't know, I think you're just being a good person." He finally said, breaking the silence between them. "Good person? I have killed people." She laughed. "When you live in a world like this, I think your intentions for killing people justify your actions." He replied, hoping it wou
