Silence took over after the echo of the gunshots cleared out.
Pedro’s eyes widened, mouth agape while he recoiled. In an attempt to disassociate himself from the situation, he fled from the premises. Lucas paid attention to Daisy, and certain that she was still breathing, he faced Gerald. “You shouldn’t have pulled that trigger!” His steps quickened as he marched to Gerald, eyes red with annoyance. Gerald’s hands were shaky, and his attempt to tighten his grip on the gun failed. After he missed the first two shots, the next plan was to fire the third. “Stay away! Don’t come close!” He tried to muster the remaining courage that he had, but Lucas was already standing a few inches in front of him. Two slaps followed. His gun dropped, and blood oozed from his mouth. “Do you know who I am?!” He began to crawl away, trying to flee in a hurry. Lucas picked him up, pinned him to the wall, and glared at him. “Who are you again?” “I am Gerald Anderson! No one treats me this way!” Lucas scoffed. “Well, I hope you are ready for what’s coming because nighttime is set for you.” Gerald whimpered. “What do you mean?” He asked, but he was going to find out later. Lucas knocked him out and let his body drop. He hurried to Daisy and knelt close to her. “Daisy? Can you hear me?” The young lady groaned and opened her eyes, thinking that she was going to wake up in heaven. “You are not dead, Daisy,” Lucas assured and gently pulled her up. She carefully looked at him. “Are you okay?” The sound of the gunshot still reverberated inside her ears, and she had to shake it off. Lucas nodded. Smile intact while he pointed to the main entrance. “I am fine, Daisy. I think it’s time for you to reclaim your company.” Daisy was more excited than he thought. She went into the building and assumed the position of the CEO with immediate effect. Gerald was picked up at once and found himself in a police cell by the time he returned to consciousness. Things were gradually taking shape, and it looked like it was turning into a revolution for the Divine Healer. By the time Lucas Foden walked out of the Apex Ventures Complex and was about to head to his car, the footsteps hurrying after him made him turn. Daisy was struggling to keep up with her heels. “Wait, Lucas!” She panted for air and cleared her throat when she had regained her breath. Lucas sighed. “Is there a problem?” “No. But are you just going to leave like that?” Daisy drew closer and grabbed his hands. Her eyes shot coy stares at him, revealing her keen admiration. Lucas gave her a curious stare. “Is there something else I should be doing here?” He was oblivious, but Daisy felt like he was trying to pretend. She huffed in a slight annoyance. “I should take you out at least for everything you have done for me. Let’s go out for lunch, it’s almost time.” Daisy checked her time to affirm her words. She nodded. “This is almost 2 pm, Lucas. Let’s go grab something to eat.” “You have a company to run, Daisy. I am sure that there are a lot of things you need to catch up with.” Lucas kept his smile, but Daisy was disappointed. “I just want to show my appreciation after everything you have done for me. Taking you out for lunch is the least I can do.” She was persistent, feeling the firmness of his arms with delight. Lucas tutted. “We are even now, Daisy. There is no need for you to do anything. Really…” Daisy sighed in a bid to get rid of her feelings. “Maybe some other time.” She had to say those words, but she didn’t mean them. Lucas waved at her and got into his car while she watched her drive off. Returning to the Rose Haven, Lucas met Logan standing in front of the massive building waiting for him. “Logan?” He hurried to his brother as soon as he alighted from the car. “I didn’t know you were back.” His eyes stared curiously while he expected a response. Logan took a deep breath. “Mother and Briana have been asking to see you.” His countenance showed excitement, lips spreading gradually. Lucas nodded. “Let’s go already.” His beam looked like it was never going to vanish. Since there was no need to waste time. The twin brothers drove to the airport where the Foden Private jet was already waiting for them. The pilot and the flight attendants bowed as soon as they saw them, ushering them into the big bird. They arrived at Rubbyvile in less than two hours since it was the neighboring city to Berryfort. “Have you been to this City before?” Logan asked while they sauntered toward the convoy awaiting at the airport. “Never, Logan.” Lucas waved at one of the chauffeurs who bowed to him and his brother. “I hadn’t left Berryfort since I got married to Jemima. Logan sneered. “That sham of a marriage.” He sniggered. “I am glad it ended.” Lucas silently got into the black Cayman Porsche, having no words to give his brother in response. They arrived at Greenland Villa; the Foden estate. Standing tall in the middle of about 2.5 million acres of land was a skyscraper. It was over 500 feet, and the significance of the strength of the Fodens, crowned as the wealthiest and most reputable family in Solana before the accident that pushed them into the sands of time. Lucas didn’t ignore the other edifices inside the premises, nor could he pretend as though he didn’t see the vehicles all over the place, but the main building was mesmerizing. “We live here?” His voice was barely above a whisper while he stared with awe. Before Logan could give him a response, the door was pushed open, and a middle-aged lady was slowly wheeled out of the building by two bodyguards.

Logan had gone to remind Lucas about his promise to the Phoenix sisters. He knocked on the door twice, and then he pulled the handle. “Going somewhere?” He inquired, seeing that Lucas was fully dressed that early morning.“I made a promise to Lara and her sisters, Logan. I don’t intend to go back on my words.” Lucas was already on his way out of the large bedroom, and Logan joined him at once. On their way striding along the hallway, Lucas looked at the portraits of his father hanging in different spots on the walls.A heavy sigh left him, but he was distracted by the appearance of his sister.Briana was curious. “Where are you going so early, Lucas?” She was worried that he was leaving them, especially as she saw the brown portable box he was carrying. Lucas chuckled softly, amused by the look on her face. “Cheer up, Briana. I am not leaving.”“So where are you going?” Briana returned her gaze to Lucas since Logan didn’t look like he was going to answer her question.“So
Phoenix Sisters
Realizing that Lucas already suspected their actions, the Phoenix daughters looked away slowly, unable to deal with his stern look. “What do you want?” Lucas asked again, but it didn’t look like the response was coming anytime soon. He sighed. “Well, if you are not going to tell me why you are here, I think we should continue with the party. The night is still young, and I haven’t even had a glass of wine.” “Wait!” Lara stopped him from leaving, and because he wanted to have a taste of sweet wine, Logan gestured to the sommelier carrying a tray filled with champagne flutes. He grabbed two, offered one to Lucas, and took a sip. None of the Phoenix daughters was ready to speak, but seeing that Lucas was gradually losing his patience, Lara who was the eldest decided it was high time she broke the lingering silence. “My father is dying, Lucas!” She swallowed hard, and even the heavy sigh she heaved wasn’t enough to get rid of the anxiety that gripped her.Her utterance had us
The Welcome Party
The night looked like it was the best moment to witness as guests all over the city trooped into the Foden Estate in their numbers. Even though the premises of the Greenland Villa didn’t look like it was not going to be able to contain the sleek cars that were lined up like metallic snakes inside the parking lots, anyone who saw the luxurious cars was going to think that they had walked into an automobile company. Inside the hall were guests in their numbers, brandishing their expensive outfits that matched the color of the day- white. The chandeliers hanging above them scintillated their glitter into the champagne flutes that the sommeliers were serving the guests. Whispers, laughter, and exchange of pleasantries filled the air, but it didn’t sound like they were going to be able to overshadow the live performance of the best orchestra giving their best by the corner of the large hall. Everyone anticipated the arrival of the long-awaited celebrant, but Lucas seemed not to b
