The night looked like it was the best moment to witness as guests all over the city trooped into the Foden Estate in their numbers.
Even though the premises of the Greenland Villa didn’t look like it was not going to be able to contain the sleek cars that were lined up like metallic snakes inside the parking lots, anyone who saw the luxurious cars was going to think that they had walked into an automobile company. Inside the hall were guests in their numbers, brandishing their expensive outfits that matched the color of the day- white. The chandeliers hanging above them scintillated their glitter into the champagne flutes that the sommeliers were serving the guests. Whispers, laughter, and exchange of pleasantries filled the air, but it didn’t sound like they were going to be able to overshadow the live performance of the best orchestra giving their best by the corner of the large hall. Everyone anticipated the arrival of the long-awaited celebrant, but Lucas seemed not to be intrigued by the party. The only reason he seemed to be interested was because his mother insisted. Scarlett on the other hand couldn’t wait for everyone to see that she was back on her feet, something that was even out of imagination. Clad in her luxurious white gown with an expensive pearl necklace and earrings to match, she gently adjusted the black ties of her two sons, staring at them proudly. “Today is the happiest day of my life.” She had her bright eyes on Lucas, reaching for his cheeks while she kept her smile. Briana soon joined them. “Everyone is waiting, Mother!” She announced, not left out in the elegance her mother exhibited. Scarlett hurried her sons into the hall, and the moment the guests saw them, they stopped everything that they were doing and looked. The spotlights paid keen attention to the four members of the great Foden family, trailing them as they sauntered to the middle of the hall. Jaws dropped, eyes bulged, and gasps erupted as the guests stared at them. First, Scarlett was on her feet, and then there were two men standing beside her who looked exactly like each other. “I hope I am not dreaming, Kira.” One of the guests turned to his wife, but she seemed to be as speechless as he was. “Unbelievable!” Another male guest found the only words he could think of about the astonishing sight before them. Scarlett welcomed the guests, and after she gave her not-so-long speech about how her long-lost son was brought back to her and the reason for her ability to walk again, she declared the party open. Lucas thought that it was just going to be a regular party where he would sit and watch people dance and drink themselves to a stupor. He wasn’t prepared for the kind of attention that was coming his way. While he stood alongside his brother, three young ladies started marching toward them, their smiles brightening as they inched closer. Lucas saw that they looked exactly alike just like him and Logan. They were definitely triplets. Their ocean blue eyes stared at him, their enchanting faces tried to charm him. Their waists twirled at the rhythm of the song The Silence, playing in the background. Lucas didn’t know which of them he was supposed to pay attention to. The three of them were like the Queens of the greatest empire that had ever existed. Their glass heels clicked stylishly on thee marble tiles, honoring the reflection of their short skirts that gave way for parts of their flawless skin to be exposed. Logan nudged Lucas with a smirk, causing him to get a grip on himself. “Those are the Phoenix daughters, Lucas. They are like the most beautiful and hottest single ladies in Rubyville.” “I can see that.” Lucas nodded, still finding it hard to stop staring. “That’s Lola, that’s Lara, and that’s Lana.” Logan pointed, but before Lucas could try to recall the names he called, the ladies were already standing in front of him. The one in the middle stepped forward, flaunting her brunette hair with pure elegance. “Hello, Lucas Foden. I am Lara Phoenix, and these are my sisters, Lola and Lana. We are the Phoenix daughters, heiresses of the Phoenix Empire.” Lucas couldn’t keep Lara’s hands hanging in the air. He quickly shook her with a smile. “Hello, Lara Phoenix. I am delighted to meet you.” It was hard for him to comport himself, facing the fairy goddesses who didn’t look like they had ever worked or cried in their lives. He managed to shake hands with Lana and Lola without messing things up. Lara cleared her throat to get his attention. “We came bearing gifts.” She snapped her fingers, and in a rush, five able-bodied men rushed to the spot, carrying heavy crested bronze boxes. They dropped them one after the other in front of Lucas, and he could see the crest of the phoenix on them. “What’s inside?” He asked, and Lara gestured to him to find out by himself. One after the other, Lucas opened the boxes, and at each moment, the attention of some of the close guests were drawn to them. Inside the boxes were gold bars, silverware, precious stones including diamonds, special collections of colognes and limited editions of high-class wristwatches. These were mostly the things Lucas could see, causing him to wonder why they were giving him such gifts. “What have I done to deserve this?” He returned his gaze to Lara, leaving his brother to continue staring at the gifts inside the bronze boxes. Lara chuckled softly. “Such modesty!” She scoffed, but it was hard to tell if she was mocking him. “There is absolutely nothing wrong with welcoming the heir to the Foden family. You are the most powerful and influential man in the entire country and even in the western continent.” Lola stepped forward and affirmed her sister’s words with a nod. “Yes, Lucas! It is an honor to meet with you.” Lana joined in the eulogy. “We have heard so much about you, Divine Healer!” Lucas didn’t know how popular he was until that moment. He already had fame without a face even before he discovered that he was the heir to the mightiest empire in Solana. But he knew that the presence of the Phoenix daughters went beyond bringing those gifts and claiming they were just to welcome and not entice him. “What do you want?” His smile was instantly replaced with a smirk.

Tremble
Logan had gone to remind Lucas about his promise to the Phoenix sisters. He knocked on the door twice, and then he pulled the handle. “Going somewhere?” He inquired, seeing that Lucas was fully dressed that early morning.“I made a promise to Lara and her sisters, Logan. I don’t intend to go back on my words.” Lucas was already on his way out of the large bedroom, and Logan joined him at once. On their way striding along the hallway, Lucas looked at the portraits of his father hanging in different spots on the walls.A heavy sigh left him, but he was distracted by the appearance of his sister.Briana was curious. “Where are you going so early, Lucas?” She was worried that he was leaving them, especially as she saw the brown portable box he was carrying. Lucas chuckled softly, amused by the look on her face. “Cheer up, Briana. I am not leaving.”“So where are you going?” Briana returned her gaze to Lucas since Logan didn’t look like he was going to answer her question.“So
Phoenix Sisters
Realizing that Lucas already suspected their actions, the Phoenix daughters looked away slowly, unable to deal with his stern look. “What do you want?” Lucas asked again, but it didn’t look like the response was coming anytime soon. He sighed. “Well, if you are not going to tell me why you are here, I think we should continue with the party. The night is still young, and I haven’t even had a glass of wine.” “Wait!” Lara stopped him from leaving, and because he wanted to have a taste of sweet wine, Logan gestured to the sommelier carrying a tray filled with champagne flutes. He grabbed two, offered one to Lucas, and took a sip. None of the Phoenix daughters was ready to speak, but seeing that Lucas was gradually losing his patience, Lara who was the eldest decided it was high time she broke the lingering silence. “My father is dying, Lucas!” She swallowed hard, and even the heavy sigh she heaved wasn’t enough to get rid of the anxiety that gripped her.Her utterance had us

Walk Again
Scarlett didn’t think that drinking the juice squeezed out from a crushed red plant was going to have any good effect on her, but it was going to be ridiculous for her to think that the son she had not seen for over twenty years was going to try to kill her. She didn’t know Lucas as a Doctor, but those long years were enough to build mysteries that she and the others were yet to discover. She got rid of her fears, grabbed the glass from Lucas, and gulped down the red liquid. She groaned and twisted her face at the bitter taste of the herb, returning the glass to her son while she struggled with the cringe. Lucas nodded with a smile. “You have done well, Mother. Now we wait for the results.” His confidence seemed like one of the few things that was keeping his siblings from asking questions.Logan was ready to call the family Doctor who was on speed dial just in case things went wrong while Briana held onto her mother. While the suspenseful silence lingered, all eyes remained

Silence took over after the echo of the gunshots cleared out. Pedro’s eyes widened, mouth agape while he recoiled. In an attempt to disassociate himself from the situation, he fled from the premises. Lucas paid attention to Daisy, and certain that she was still breathing, he faced Gerald. “You shouldn’t have pulled that trigger!” His steps quickened as he marched to Gerald, eyes red with annoyance.Gerald’s hands were shaky, and his attempt to tighten his grip on the gun failed. After he missed the first two shots, the next plan was to fire the third. “Stay away! Don’t come close!” He tried to muster the remaining courage that he had, but Lucas was already standing a few inches in front of him. Two slaps followed. His gun dropped, and blood oozed from his mouth. “Do you know who I am?!” He began to crawl away, trying to flee in a hurry. Lucas picked him up, pinned him to the wall, and glared at him. “Who are you again?” “I am Gerald Anderson! No one treats me th
