Lyra stopped in her tracks. Her body was frozen, but she didn't immediately turn to look at her father.

Flashbacks of her memories replayed in her mind.

Lyra remembered that after her grandfather's death, her father had always forced everything he wanted on her.

Lyra only realized when the Winter family was always trying to take advantage of her. Even regarding the $10 million, Lyra couldn't forgive him. How could her father trade her for $10 million? It truly hurt Lyra.

She couldn't hold back the tears that fell, trailing down her face. But she quickly wiped them away. Her hand still held tightly to Ludwig's.

She looked up slightly at him. "Let's go." Her voice was trembling.

Ludwig knew this was hurting her. "I promise I'll give you a better life," he assured her.

The woman nodded. Lyra had no desire for a life of luxury. She knew of his humble circumstances. She had even prepared herself for it.

Lyra gave her a smile before she took another step away.

Hanry's body shook with anger. "You're so stupid, Lyra. I'm ashamed to even call you my daughter."

"I guarantee you'll come begging to return to the Winter family. And then, I swear I won't give you the chance." Hanry threatened before they were completely apart.

Ludwig stopped. This time, he turned around, staring at Hanry with his firm eyes. "I guarantee that won't happen." Without waiting for an answer, Ludwig took Lyra's hand again and led her away.

The screams from Hanry and Charles still echoed clearly. But they chose to ignore them. They were now walking to the car.

Ludwig stopped, opened the car door, and invited Lyra in.

"Get in."

Lyra nodded. As the woman got into the car, she realized that Lyra had not only left the Winter home, but she had lost her entire family.

This time, she couldn't hold back her tears. She continued to cry throughout the journey. She hadn't imagined her father would choose to sever their family ties. It was incredibly painful.

Ludwig watched her, giving Lyra space for a moment. After seeing her calm down a bit, he gently touched her hand. This made Lyra turn to him.

"Do you regret coming with me?" Ludwig asked softly.

Lyra immediately shook her head. "My tears have nothing to do with my decision." He emphasized his statement. The woman quickly wiped the tears from her face. "Really, I have no regrets."

"Ludwig, this is my decision. I've been waiting for this moment for five years. And I don't want to betray my grandfather." Her eyes were filled with tears. "His soul will not be at peace. And I'm glad you've finally come."

This time, Lyra seemed calmer. She sighed and gave a slight smile. "I'm even sure my decision was right."

Ludwig nodded. "Yes, you've made the right decision."

Inwardly, he swore he wouldn't cause Lyra any trouble. He would even guarantee her happiness.

Ludwig knew Lyra was a good woman. Therefore, she deserved the happiness she deserved.

After a while, the car finally stopped in front of a luxurious house.

From inside the car, Lyra could barely blink. For a moment, she was mesmerized by what lay before her. This was even more magnificent than the Winter family's large mansion.

"Let's get out." Ludwig's voice interrupted Lyra's reverie. She hadn't realized he had opened the door for her.

Lyra got out of the car. She stared at him questioningly. She hadn't even been able to get an answer about the $20 million Ludwig had given Charles earlier. And now, Lyra was filled with awe again at the sight of the grand palace standing tall.

"Come on," Ludwig carefully took Lyra's hand and led her inside.

Once they were inside the massive building, Lyra immediately looked around. She found nothing but awe.

Lyra didn't know if this was Harold's family home, and rumors had it that Harold's family had been destroyed. So how could Ludwig have brought her into this luxurious mansion?

Previously, Lyra had thought that Ludwig would take her to a simple home with a simple life. But she had to admit that this house was far more luxurious than the Winter family home.

“Sit down.” Once again, Ludwig's words broke Lyra out of her reverie. The woman nodded, her gaze immediately drawn to the luxurious sofa in front of her.

Lyra sat down, with Ludwig in front of her. This time, they looked at each other.

Ludwig studied Lyra seriously, until something struck her. “Tell me, what made you decide to marry me?”

Lyra smiled faintly. “Because promises are something that must be kept.” Lyra answered without hesitation. She knew this was the right decision. She was confident that her grandfather would never make the wrong decision.

Ludwig nodded his head. “Your choice is very right.”

Lyra knew this. He simply smiled without answering. But now, she couldn't contain her curiosity, and she stared at Ludwig very seriously. “Tell me, whose house is this?”

Ludwig glanced around for a moment. After all these years, he had finally returned. He looked back at Lyra. “This is my house.”

“Your house?” Lyra repeated Ludwig’s words. Of course, she found this strange. She even knew that Harold’s family had truly been destroyed. How did Ludwig own this luxurious house? But right now, Lyra chose not to discuss anything.

Lyra fell silent. Something was making her feel very anxious. She looked at Ludwig with worry. “Ludwig, I know very well about Father. He won’t stay silent. They will definitely do something bad to you.”

Her breath sounded heavy. “I’m really, really worried.”

Ludwig responded calmly. His expression showed no trace of fear. “I know that, and you don’t need to worry.”

Lyra was slightly annoyed by Ludwig’s seemingly casual expression. He seemed to not understand her concern. “Ludwig, you don’t understand. How can I explain it to you if they can do anything?”

Ludwig touched Lyra’s hand. This time his gaze was deep. “I’m not afraid at all. Everything will be fine.”
