The war that had raged for years had now ended under Ludwig Harold's short leadership. After five years on the battlefield, he prepared for his return. He remembered his engagement to Lyra Winter. Anger immediately overwhelmed him when he learned they were trying to arrange Lyra's marriage to another man. "Give me back my 10 million dollars, and then you can marry Lyra Winter!" Chapter 1

An aircraft carrier was sailing, where elite troops were stationed. A man in a white t-shirt was relaxing with a cup of coffee in his hand.

His eyes, covered by sunglasses, stared out at the open ocean before him. His face was incredibly domineering.

A man's footsteps made his eyes move. The older man bowed before him. "General, this letter is for you."

Ludwig quickly took a sip of his coffee, then set the cup down and removed his sunglasses. This time, a pair of stern eyes stared at James before him. "Give it."

James handed the sheet of paper respectfully, stepping back once Ludwig accepted it.

His eagle gaze now fixed on the sheet of paper clutched in his muscular hand. After reading it quickly, Ludwig knew that his exile had ended after Ludwig had successfully led the troops to war and defeated the enemy.

"Finally, after five years, I will return." Ludwig breathed a sigh of relief after reading it.

James smiled faintly. "That's wonderful news. In fact, you'll be engaged soon."

Ludwig nodded slowly. His eyes returned to the open sea before him. It was like his vow: he would finish the war on time.

His mind immediately flashed back to the arranged marriage his family had arranged with the Winter family's daughter. A marriage made possible because his father had saved the Winter family head from a disaster.

Ludwig's memory was still very clear. Five years ago, after the marriage was agreed upon, enemy troops suddenly attacked his family. Before Ludwig could rescue his father and mother, they burned down their home, leaving Ludwig not only without his father and mother, but also without his home.

Ludwig was the only survivor, until his loyal servant carried him to the battlefield. His extraordinary determination and courage earned him the title of general in a short time.

Ludwig never forgot his father's advice to fulfill the family's agreement regarding his betrothal to the Winter family's daughter. He had to finish his war on time.

"Are you ready for my return now?" Ludwig gave a firm command.

His return wasn't merely to fulfill his betrothal to the Winter family's daughter, but rather to exact revenge on those who had attacked his family.

His fists clenched tightly. The atmosphere suddenly fell silent. He turned to James. "I will complete the engagement." He paused for a moment. This time, his gaze was fixed straight ahead. "Afterward, I will find out who killed Harold's family."

With a cold expression and mixed emotions, Ludwig put his sunglasses back on. The memory was truly painful for him.

James nodded obediently. "General, I will prepare for your return immediately."

A small nod was all that was visible on Ludwig's face. He let James pass before him. His muscular hand picked up the cup of coffee, which was beginning to cool. He took a slow sip.

After a while, Ludwig looked up at the waiting fighter jet. Several other troops immediately greeted Ludwig as he boarded the jet. Everyone raised their hands in a respectful farewell.

Everyone stared at Ludwig with admiration. The war, which had raged for decades, had never ended. Yet, one young man had accomplished the impossible, leading and defeating thousands of enemies single-handedly.

Now, Ludwig was inside the jet carrying him. He sat quietly, staring out the glass window. He had been inside the jet for several hours.

James walked over to him. "General, we'll be there soon. I'll get everything ready."

Ludwig exhaled heavily. His eyes returned to the glass window. "After five years, this city has changed a lot."

The jet had finally landed. He stepped out of it calmly. After disembarking, Ludwig took a deep breath, feeling the warmth of the city that hadn't touched him in five years. "This will be the beginning again."

As instructed, a taxi stopped in front of him. A man got out and bowed before Ludwig.

James, who was standing there, looked at Ludwig seriously. "General, I have prepared this taxi for you. As you ordered."

Ludwig simply nodded. It wasn't without reason; he simply didn't want his arrival to be met with attention. He had to ask his soldiers to arrange a taxi for him.

Ludwig immediately stepped into the taxi. First, he would arrive at the Winter family home. Even though he didn't know who the woman he was going to marry would be, he would marry her anyway.

After a while, he finally arrived there more quickly. However, he was surprised by the bustling Winter family home.

But Ludwig immediately remembered, a smile quickly appearing on his face. After five years, Ludwig had been happy to see the Winter family still firmly believe in the arranged marriage.

Ludwig got off the train excitedly, but he soon realized everyone was looking at him strangely. The laughter and conversation immediately ceased, creating a silence.

Ludwig walked calmly. But someone stopped him.

"Stop!"

The shout stopped Ludwig. He looked at the man who was staring at him sharply.

“Who are you?” The man eyed Ludwig with a scornful gaze. His eyes darted up and down, and the man realized that Ludwig wasn't one of them. This was evident from Ludwig's simple appearance and the taxi that was carrying him.

Ludwig looked at him calmly. “I am Ludwig Harold. As agreed five years ago, I have come to propose to the daughter of the Winter family.”

Everyone there looked at each other. Unease was visible on the faces of those at the party.

“What? Did he say he was going to propose to Miss Lyra?” one of them shouted loudly.

A man in a black suit stepped forward, his face filled with anger. “Who are you? How dare you come and say you want to propose to Lyra?”

Ludwig frowned. This was a strange situation. Wasn't this party being prepared for his engagement to the daughter of the Winter family? And Ludwig had just learned that he was going to marry Lyra.

This time, all eyes immediately shifted to a woman with an innocent look standing in a beautiful white dress. Her beautiful face and long hair added to her captivating charm. She looked truly extraordinary.

“So she’s Lyra.”

Ludwig sighed. They should have known this. But he looked calmly at the man in the black suit. “Yes, and shouldn’t I marry the daughter of the Winter family?” Ludwig shifted his gaze slightly to Lyra. “This agreement was made five years ago,” he clarified.

The man, with a fierce face, glared at Ludwig angrily. But the next moment, he burst out laughing. “So you’re the son of the ruined Harold family?”

This shocked Ludwig. Clearly, the man had insulted him. He was Henry Winter, who was known to be Lyra Winter’s father.

Henry was still laughing heartily. Once again, he examined Ludwig’s ugly appearance. Ludwig’s arrival, announcing his intention to propose to his daughter, had certainly angered him. This seemed like an insult to him. "How dare you come empty-handed and propose to my daughter?"

Ludwig suppressed his composure. "What do you mean? Wasn't the agreement ratified five years ago by the head of the Winter family?"

Hanry's expression turned stern. His sharp gaze seemed to pierce Ludwig. "There will be no marriage between the Winter family and Harold. I oppose it!”
