Chapter 3

Form 2: Devil Elf

HEIGHT: 5’9

HAIR COLOR: BLACK

HAIR STYLE: SLICK BACK

EYE COLOR: GREEN

BODY TYPE: RECTANGULAR

Gross…No way. The game took basic characteristics from my IRL form and slammed them on my Devil Elf form. A dark-skinned elf with black slick back-styled hair and a rectangular body type. Nope! The height can’t be changed obviously but let’s make some tweaks.

Hair colour from black to white.

Hair style from slick back to just long hair. Make it go below my shoulders down to my ribs.

Eye colour from green to…I already used blue before. I want to look like a completely different being when I transform. So purple.

Body type from rectangular to inverse triangle. Add a little muscle. Just a little.

I will get additional stats when I transform to my second form so let me get the looks to match the boost.

I look over my profiles and choose to confirm.

[Are you sure? Changes in some respects may not be changed after selection]

[Yes] Or [No]

Just as I’d guessed. I’ve played too many VR games. I’m a VR veteran. Hey don’t judge. My parents own a game company, and they are not apprehensive to shower me in games since I have gotten nothing less than third in any course since I entered senior high. There was that one fourth but, it’s just that once and it was in German. You can’t blame me. It’s not my first language and there was a pair of twins who were half-German. As for third, she surpassed me with just two points. It’s in the past. Forget it.

I choose yes and get a new notification.

[Loading Data] … [Analyzing data] … [Storing data] … [ Retrieving data] … [Profile creation complete]

[Logging In] … [Welcome to the Training ground]

My stats appear on the screen and the game begins to explain the meaning of every stat.

FORM 1 STATS

STRENGHT: 5

AGILITY: 10

STAMINA: 8/8

DEXTERITY: 20

DURABILITY: 4

INT: 10

IQ: 128 [STATS CANNOT BE ASSIGNED TO THIS]

HP: 10/10

MP: 5/5

SKILL POINTS: 0

Strength: Physical strength of avatar.

Agility: Speed of motion of avatar

Stamina: Energy readily stored in avatar’s body for physical tasks.

Dexterity: Nimbleness of avatar.

Durability: Ability of Avatar to recover from fatigue.

Intelligence: Intellectual capacity of avatar

“Not my own intelligence? I’m pretty smart. I would have gotten better points” I lament. “Wait why does my intelligence need a stat?”

Maybe it affects another stat? I don’t know. Maybe it’ll be like other games where it’s linked to MP?

IQ: Intellectual quotient of avatar.

Just like INT, it doesn’t give much to go off on. I asked the AI but it’s not responding.

Health Points: Amount of health possessed by avatar.

Mana Points: Amount of mana possessed by avatar.

Skill Points: Points to unlock new skill/spell books or level already purchased ones.

[Skills]

[TRANSFORMATION (Active) (LV 1): Transform between form 1 and form 2. Duration of transformation decreases with proficiency. Duration: 6 Mins]

[30% Additional boosts on all stats at transformation]

I have no other skills at the moment and this one came with my hidden race.

Wait…there is one other one, but it’s designated as ‘??’ with a message attached to it.

[Meet requirements to unlock]

Damn game doesn’t tell me what the requirements are. Forget it. On to training.

[Kill the enemies to gain experience points]

I am transported to a hallway. Behind me is a brick wall but I can’t see the opposite end. Almost like it extends to infinity.

[Choose a weapon]

I look through my options.

None…I guess barehanded is a fighting style.

Training sword (LV 1): A sword for killing low-level enemies for practice.

Training dagger (LV 1): A dagger for close range quick-handed combat in the training arena.

Other weapons have similar descriptions.

Spear, Shield, Hammer, Mallet, Brass knuckles, Sickle, Hoe, shovel…

“Shovel…hoe…” When those words come out of my mouth, I freeze in confusion for a moment. “I guess they’re catering to everyone’s fantasies.”

Helmet…

You can only choose one weapon. What are you going to do if you choose a helmet? Headbutt the enemy to death?

All the level 2 weapons and above are locked except one.

Scythe of the Devil God (LV?): Scythe belonging to the devil god. Available only to the devil god’s successor.

Trait: Levels up with the avatar.

I swear hidden classes are the best! Whoever wrote the backstory of this role and race gets a thumbs up from this little brother.

I equip the scythe and the ‘?’ turns to 1 just like my current level. It is indeed as I thought.

The screen doesn’t disappear but gives me a new notification.

[Choose a spell library]

[Library of Five Elements]: Contains spell books on the five elements; wind, fire, soil, water, and gold

[Library of Light]: Contains spell books on light magic.

Why will there be a whole library for just light? When I open the library, I see it contains, healing magic, mirage magic and ordinary run-of-the-mill luminous magic.

Mirage magic seems useful. But won’t it be countered by those with detection skills that don’t depend on visuals?

[Library of Darkness]: Contains spell books on dark magic. Such as Necromancy, Blood magic, curse magic, hex magic.

There were over fifty libraries to choose from. Some noteworthy ones being:

Thunder, Sound, Electromagnets, Dream and Memory, Puppet, Taming and so on.

So many good ones but, I’m going to be greedy as usual. I ask the system for hidden libraries.

[Scanning hidden libraries: o/8…1/8…6/8…8/8]

[Requesting permission]

[Access granted to 1/8 libraries]

[Library of The Devil God]

“My guess was spot on. He has his own library!”

[Would you like to choose this library?]

[Yes] Or [No]

I choose…Hell yeah!

[Pick a spell book]

I look through the library and choose [Singularity Of The Devil].

We learnt the theory of singularities in Physics and Data Processing classes. In DPR class, a singularity referred to when technology got insanely advanced and in Physics, a singularity referred to a singular point just like this skill.

[Singularity Of The Devil (Active) (LV 1): In ancient times, the Devil race lived in a Null Dimension which later came to be known as the Devil Realm. Their army could enter it from and exit it to anywhere in the universe. This was one of the many things that made them more fearsome than most if not all dark beings in existence despite their low population.

Size and Duration of Gate to singularity increases with level.

Cooldown Reduces with increase in level.

Size: 5 centimeters (diameter)

Duration: 15 seconds

Cooldown: 20 minutes

So, I basically have my own pocket dimension. I just have to wait for 20 minutes each time I use it. It’s still pretty useful though. I have extra inventory.

I have chosen 1 weapon and 1 spell book.

[Ready?]

[Yes] Or [No].

Chapter 18: Beginning Hand To Hand Combat TrainingTeam B, Marcus and Juliet's team ended up wining the second round and took the victory. I left after their match and started heading west. I couldn't find an opponent that is in my tier so I couldn't participate. The rules state that in 1v1s, none of the competitors should be more than 2 levels higher than their opponent. As for teams, the average level of the teams must have a difference no greater than 1 and the difference between the highest levels on each team should be no greater than 2. Which means, even if I found a teammate with a low enough level to get the team average level to be lower than 21 and equal to our opponents', their team must have someone that's up to level 19.Speaking of which. I am currently fighting a level 19 beast in hand-to-hand combat. I usually just levelled up by staying at a distance with my scythe and the singularity skill but few fist fights. It's a red monkey-like beast with

Chapter 17 The dual swordsman, Francis stays in the ring while his partner heads out and Juliet the female orc stays in with Marcus stepping out. "Start." The two of them cautiously walk in circles looking for an opening in their opponents. This goes on for about seven seconds before Francis throws the word in his right hand at Juliet's neck before charging at her. She ducks and comes back up with a leap towards her opponent. Whilst in mid-air, she pulls out a club from her inventory and swings it down at him which he blocks with the sword left in his left hand. He manages to parry the strike but staggers a few steps backward. Her strength seems to have overwhelmed him. She dishes out a kick towards his right knee, but he slides his leg backward causing her to miss, hitting the air before landing on the ground forcefully. Before she can retrieve her left leg, he steps on her left foot with his left foot, pining her in place and hitting striking her wa

Chapter 16: Cangue City's Arena "Phew." There are more people than I expected. There are many seats in this stadium. Stadia actually. The arena is split into multiple stages of different sizes and shapes for different types of matches which can be run simultaneously. You pay 0.2 U coin for a regular seat and 0.5 for a VIP seat. Well, there are technically no 0.2 or 0.5 U coin currency but that is what is charged to your Arena Ticket. I don't know why, but I got two tickets and paid for a VIP seat. [3 U coins → 1 U coin] [2 Arena Tickets → 1.3 Arena Tickets] I paid for a regular seat first but after getting uncomfortable while seating amongst others, I got a VIP one and the previous ticket is non-refundable. The most interesting matches are the ones fought by teams that have gotten popular in the short time the game has been released. I could wipe them out alone but learning how they fight will get me knowledge to be more effective. I may not need to care right now since I will

Chapter 15: Boom Not Boon For Humanity "Is there any way to tell who is and who isn't?" I ask. "…Hmm." She seems to be in thought. "At the moment, we can only check through the system, which is taking some time to check all the servers but as for regular players? I'm not sure you can differentiate them unless they have their memories. Some of them usually suffer amnesia. And those with their memories are usually freaking out. Some weird ones were slightly happy though. Anyway, all the ones we have found so far have been moved to a separate server." "…" My heart is pounding crazily at the moment. Elise may most likely be a player who has amnesia. Wait. The admin said she was an NPC. "Can the admin tell if a player was sucked in? Is it possible for it to mistake players as NPCs that have gained sentience?" "This…I don't think so. The admins should have records of the NPCs that were generated before the players logged in. So, it should be easy to compare." I sigh in relief. "But, wi

Chapter 14: I'm Not A Real Person "Elise…hello." Why am I panicking? Scratch that. Why shouldn't my heart pound? If she has really realised that she is not real and this world is virtual, how do I appease her? How do I make her come to terms with that? "Real…world?" "You don't have to lie to me. It's fine. I've learnt a lot the past few days while listening to the Admin. She's not a real person either, is she?" "…No." I really didn't think this would happen (her finding out). At least not this fast. "But the fact that you're not real doesn't mean you're insignificant to me." "…" She doesn't respond. I can't tell what the meaning of the expression on her face is, but I thinks she's pouting? I don't know. I might be wrong. I walk over to her and look hr in the eye. "You don't believe me?" "…" "Come on. Please answer. You're making me nervous." She doesn't answer but kisses me on the cheek before turning around and by the time I snap out of the trance I entered after the kiss; sh

Chapter 13: Harvest Function "Huh?" It dawns on me what this means. With the ever-dwindling food and housing, this is quite good for the real world. Clothing…shelter? Urbanization has mad high-rise buildings really common. The norm even. With the reducing landmass available due to flooding (from global warming), buildings with more floors are a wiser choice since it will accommodate more people with the same piece of land. That's good and all but why am I jumping the gun? Bringing loot to reality? Is that even possible? I know man's technology has grown by leaps and bounds but this concept and be likened to creating something from nothing. Can the in-game stimuli be counted as a form of energy? VR loot as energy convertible to real life objects? I doubt that. Maybe they mean something like, you can bring it out to the real world as a hologram or something. Let's move on for now and try it out when the update is complete. "Thanks for the cake." "Are you leaving?" "Yes…" Why do I f
