In Game: Survive or Be Killed

[June 15, 3070; 10:15 A.M.]

The people, the soldiers, the suffering citizens are confused and now were asking for help. They were rallying in front of a mansion and were asking for help to the current president. 

"Where are we going to get food!? Another country is taking over our territory! Where is the President!? He has to agree to that thing!" The old woman shouts and trying to push away the soldiers who were trying to block her way. One big man from the other side of the crowd lifted the old woman and yelled at her. 

"Hey old hag, are you crazy already!? If the President agrees to that, many people will die!" The big man shouted and the old woman punches his face hard making him angry and throw the old woman from the other side. 

The soldiers didn’t even tried to stop the man punching the old woman as they are busy trying to block the citizens way for coming inside of the mansion. 

In the past 10 years, every president of each country notice that the population of their country are now increasing. Their resources are now limited that only half of their country’s population can benefit it. Most of them are rich people. 

Some greedy presidents convince the others to make a game in which it will help their population decrease. Not all of them agrees but only the five presidents. After a two years, they already saw the good effect of it making the other leaders of every country wanted to participate as well. Unfortunately, for those leaders who still don’t want to participate the game were having a huge problem. 

The other countries stop exporting goods to their countries, they invade their territory with the help of their allies and their people who are great fighters. They kidnap every genius scientist and inventors to help them create more advance technologies and experiment people to make them even powerful. 

The leaders of each countries form a group where the greatest and strongest country will be the one who leads the organization. They decided to make a ranking and if that country will reach the top 10, their country will receive more rewards while for those country who dropped down from their rank will receive a punishment making their country fall into despair. 

The 'In Game' is made for those with low ranking countries and poor citizens can have a chance to have a high position using their abilities in fighting. Everytime they held the national game each year, hundreds of people are dying but because of fun and the happiness that the rich people and most citizens in the country, it cannot help but to continue the game even though their main reason for doing that has been resolved. They still continuing the game for the sake of rich people's happiness, for the gold they wanted to have and mostly, for the high position that they desired. 

A commander in chief hastily walk to go to the leader’s meeting. There were only some of them since some senators and other politicians already go abroad and leave the country because of the chaos that the citizens had made. Because of money, they flee with their families leaving the poor people behind. 

"Our country's economy rate is slowly decreasing, many people are starving, suffering and asking for our help," senator Bienvanido said while holding his wet hands. Because of fear, he is now sweating and his body was shaking. Tears from his eyes are gradually falling down. 

"They're taking over the territory we're supposed to. It's funny to think that as time goes by, their minds becomes like a child!” Senator Alvis yelled and then laugh after he speak. 

"They also have a stronger force than ours because the countries with high status/rank are the only one who exchange or trade goods and other materials. We can't also communicate with them, our rank is at the lowest. They all work together and ignore the countries that do not agree with that kind of st*pid game," Senator Cruz said while holding his head and his body’s shaking. 

"Our soldiers are also losing strength, as we fight and protect our country many people are dying, we have nothing against them, their weapons are stronger than ours."

"They're squeezing us. We can do nothing but join what they're doing because otherwise, our economy will continue to decrease."

"They're crazy, what's on their minds and they're working together on that useless thing, what do they think of this world? Games? Video games?" 

All of them are now sharing their thoughts and opinions about the survival game. The room was now full of people shouting and yelling. Slamming the table in front of them while pointing and blaming each other. The president coudn’t stand the senators shouts, he  shout stop making all of them quiet and looks at him. 

"President, what's your decision?" His spokesperson look at the president's face who's showing different kind of emotions. 

"I don't know, but if we go with them, a lot of people will die, especially when you're not that armed person and don't know anything about fighting,” the president replied and bow down his head to think. Senator Bienvanido stand up and speaks. 

"But if we keep up with them, our country's rank can rise even more and we can keep up with those above! We don't have a choice, we have to agree because if not, all our property can be claimed by others!" he yelled making some senators shocked on what the man’s statement. 

"But what about the weak? The sick?" said the President with concern on his eyes.

"There's nothing we can do if —" Senator Alvis speaking when someone stood up and slammed his hand on the table.

"What do you mean? You'll sacrifice those people who are sick and don't know how to fight for themselves? It's just to make this economy grow!?" Senator Vida yelled while pointing at the man who shouts earlier. 

"What? Do you think if we won't join that game nothing bad will happen in our country? are you even thinking!?" Senator Alvis yelled at Senator Vida. 

"Stop, I've made up my mind." The room became quiet once again, people in this room are now looking at the President waiting for his statement. 

"The strong will live, the weak will die, that's all I can say, we need to protect our country or else it will disappear from the world map. To save this country, we need to sacrifice something or someone, nothing will change if we don't have something that we need to sacrifice," In this case, at this time it is necessary for everyone to be brave and able to fight because if they remain weak, they will not survive.

The commander in chief slowly walked out of the room to tell his wife on what was the president’s decision. He left quickly and ignored the people who's been calling him and quickly get in at his car and drove. He now went back to his home. 

[12:34 P.M. ]

"Papa, you're home!" The commander in chief’s son greeted him with a hug. He smiled as he looks at his innocent child, he couldn't bear if his child’s future will be ruin just because of that game. 

"Hon, do you seem to be in a hurry?” he look at his wife holding a tray of food. He walk closer to her and taps her shoulder making his wife confused. 

"Let's get out of here, let's find a place where it's safe and not to get into trouble,” he said and quickly walk upstairs. Hi wife followed him and ask. "The news told us that the President didn't approve of that? What happened?"

"But that doesn't mean we're still safe, the rich countries around us can occupy us in an instant," he seriously said to her.

"B-but--" his wife stammered. 

"I heard them, our president agreed there because of the currently state of our country right now. I don't want you and our son to get involved in this trouble," His wife just nodded and started packing. When it was all over they immediately got in the car.

"Papa, where are we going?" He smiled at his son for his child not to feel nervous. He pats his child’s head and speaks. 

"In a faraway place where you can do things with freedom." When he started the car's engine, he was shocked when there was a blow and fireworks in the sky. He know that is the signal, that's where it starts.

His chest began pounding so hard, he was sweating and tears were dripping in his eyes while driving. He immediately took the gun that was in the car and hold it. His wife hugs their child while looking in their way. Both of their hearts beats faster and faster, they were all shaking and afraid. They look up at the sky when they saw something written. 

'The game will begin in 10 seconds, ready or not prepare yourself, hide of you want but you can't escape.'

The time is now counting, he drive so fast just to get away from the city. He needed to go far away from the land of people.

"Papa, look at the fireworks! It's beautiful!" his innocent child looks at the fireworks while clapping his hands. He was now crying without his wife noticing it because of the loud fireworks around them. 

4 seconds

1 second

START!

He suddenly stopped when he saw a man in front of them holding a shovel and a gun looking at them while grinning. He started the engine again but it seems his car won’t starting, he tried and tried but he can’t start his car. He closed his eyes and open again before shouting. 

"Out, run and go away, save our son!" His wife looked at him tearfully while escaping but he just smiled looking at her. He get out of the car and look at them to ensure that they are safe. He took the gun at the car and look at the man holding a shovel and a gun as well. What the President said is still etched in his mind –

"The weak will die, the strong will live"

He don’t even know what will happen in the future but he know for sure that someday, the past will return. 

The game begins!

He started to point the gun from the man and shouts. Before could the man fire him the gun, the commander chief hit him in the head making the road full of blood. When the game finally started, all criminals from the jail in the whole world has been released and kill people from their land. The commander in chief gasping for air and clenches his teeth, from now on, the country will be covered in blood.
