The car came to a sudden halt.

Authur collected the phone from her and scrutinized the picture thoroughly.

"When did this all happen?" He thought to himself.

Authur gave a half smile, trying not to think about it. She must have missed him and decided to post a picture of them together.

"It's a cute picture of us" Author winked at Lilly and then started to drive the car.

In less than two hours they arrived at the royal house, where Lord Byron and his daughter lived.

The guards were already infor

Authur stared at the heavy wooden staff in his hand for a brief moment. He wasn't completely heartless. Looking at Jason’s face, he could easily tell how unwilling the man was to let it go. Giving this up was clearly a massive blow to Jason's life. Authur pulled out his phone, casually taking a clear photo of himself holding the staff while making sure Jason was fully captured in the background. Then, he did something that shocked both Jason and himself. Authur held the staff out and handed it right back to Jason. Jason stared at him, his hands trembling as he took the staff back. "Senior... you're... giving it back?" "I don't need the staff," Authur said calmly, adjusting his coat. "Instead, let's make a deal. You owe me a huge favor. When the right time comes, I'll collect it." Jason’s face lit up with pure joy. He was so happy he could barely contain himself, bowing deeply over and over again. "Thank you, Senior! Thank you! Whatever you need in the future, just say the

  • Chapter 76: The staff

It was the next day for the scheduled lunch meeting between Authur and Jason.Authur sat at the head of the massive dining table, staring down at the lavish dishes laid out before him.He was impressed by Jason's generosity.Jason had pulled out all the stops for this lunch. Every staff member in the mansion had been instructed to treat Authur like absolute royalty.Still, Authur didn't pick up his fork.He just sat back with his arms crossed over his chest as he casually observed the room.Jason, sitting across from him, noticed the untouched plate. He cleared his throat gently, leaning forward with a smile."Mr Authur, please eat," Jason urged, gesturing toward the feast. "The food will get cold if you leave it untouched like that. My personal chefs spent all morning preparing this for you."Authur snapped from his train of thoughts. He had been thinking about Josephine earlier. He didn't want to seem entirely rude so he gave a slight nod and began eating small bites.By the time th

1 second passed, 2 then 3…Still, she didn't open her eyes."Hey! What did you do to my daughter?!" Jason screamed. His face turned bright red as veins popped out on his neck.Jason grabbed Authur by the collar of his shirt, lifting him almost off the floor."She’s not breathing! You killed her, didn't you?!"Authur tried to be logical. "Wait... just give it a moment..." he managed to choke out. He shoved Jason’s heavy wrists back, wiggling free from the man's tight grip.He quickly dropped to his knees right beside the bed and pressed two fingers against the girl’s cold wrist. Her skin felt like ice, but under his fingers, her pulse was starting to thud.Though it was slow at first, it was getting stronger with every second that passed."Hah! I knew it! I told you he was a complete fraud, Mr. Jason!"The doctor stepped forward, a nasty smirk spreading across his sweaty face. He adjusted his white coat and pointed an accusing finger straight at Authur."Look at her! She’s not moving a

  • Chapter 74: Can he or Can he not?

Authur smiled satisfyingly to himself as he stepped inside the suite. The heavy doors shut behind him with a soft thud. He had successfully gotten access to Jason's space. His eyes flickered to the corner of his vision where the virtual screen usually floated. The [TELL ME] skill was dark and gray and it had a timer on it that said he couldn’t use it for another 29 days. His smile disappeared upon realisation. Too bad he had used it to make them believe he was the special doctor they were waiting for. Now, he just had to rely on himself and the healing skill the system had blessed him with. “Now…How hard can this be?” he whispered to himself. The room was huge and the particular area looked more like a house than a hotel room. There were gold frames on the wall and the carpet was so thick his feet sank into it. He figured there were more guards nearby so he stayed close to the wall. Just as he predicted, two guards were standing near a big wooden door at the end o

  • Chapter 73: New task

Brad clapped his hands together once. "Excellent job, Arthur," he said while forcing a half-smile. As Arthur turned away, Brad let out a small, reluctant shrug and muttered under his breath that it was too easy for Arthur and he’d only passed because the questions weren’t really difficult at all. He wanted to see how Authur would pass the next test. This time around though, he didn't give him a test of power just like available tests. He decided to go a bit extreme. He cleared his throat before speaking. "Arthur, you're just one step away from joining the F Force," he said. "Befriend Jason, the leader of all underdogs in the world. Once he gives you his precious staff, you'll be able to join the F Force at the highest rank. If you're having doubts, I'm afraid you won't be able to join a reputable organization like the F Force..." "Alright, give me a few days." Authur interrupted almost immediately. He gave Brad a serious smile before leaving. Authur hadn't heard about

  • Chapter 72: Riddles

Authur briefly glanced at the paper. His earlier smirk remained even though he noticed how strange the questions were. The F-Force was known for being strong, brutal, and powerful, yet the mind test before him seemed like something only someone with an extremely high IQ could solve. He had expected physical trials, tests of endurance or combat ability, but this was different. Still, he didn’t waste time thinking about it. He had only one minute to answer the questions, so he pushed everything else to the back of his mind and focused on reading the words in his head. “Crack the code, unlock the truth. But beware, for the truth is not always what it seems.” Brad, who was standing off to the side, kept a keen eye on Authur. He was waiting and hoping to see some sign of hesitation or frustration. Most recruits would have furrowed their brows. He had witnessed most hold their shaky pens slightly as they tried to rush through the questions. But Authur? He looked calm, almost
