Storm's Descent
“This just proves my thoughts,” Aethan mumbled after crossing a few meters, his feet tapping against the obsidian floor with astonishing speed. As he got closer to the throne, the oppressive feeling coming from the charred figure on it increased, and the frequency of the Thunderbolts multiplied, their deadliness becoming more apparent. Aethan was then forced to slow down and calculate his steps more often. He was still moving quickly though, and at that rate, he would reach his target shortly. Yet, that didn't prevent him from sustaining his first injury in this stage of the Dungeon. A particularly large thunderbolt struck the floor with dire force after Aethan weaved out of its way, albeit the branching arcs of electricity caught his ankle, sending a jolt through his body.Aethan spasmed. The paralyzing effect of the thunderbolt affected his next moves, and a second thunderbolt struck true, charring his flesh. Lichtenberg figures appeared on his skin immediately. Simultaneously,
Echoes of a Fallen God
Aethan got tunnel vision and a splitting headache as soon as the part of the Magic Circle responsible for teleportation activated. The headache stemmed not just from the movement through space, but also due to his mind still reeling from the sudden flood of information. His mind spun, and he almost emptied the contents of his stomach. But his body, pulsating with vitality, stopped him from doing just that. The teleportation didn't take long and ended just seconds later, with Aethan finding himself in a large hall. However, he barely had time to study the hall properly before his senses blared warning alarms in his head, and he rolled to the side, springing up to his feet in one fluid motion, his Aether surging violently.BOOM!Aethan's ears rang as a thick bolt of Lightning struck the spot he had been lying moments ago. The Lightning cracked the obsidian tiles easily, sending jagged fractures racing across it. It spread out like a net, striking anything and everything close enough
Inheritance of the Stormcallers
Aethan realised that he was wrong to call that affinity Wind. The real term was Gale, an affinity tied to an extinct race of Humanoid beings known as the Stormcallers. They once occupied this Realm’s Dungeon—living there, to be precise—before they were forced to leave after being attacked by an enemy race. “How do I know all this?" Aethan suddenly mumbled, feeling like the new knowledge he gained wasn't normal. Yes, he had received the memories of the Wraiths after absorbing their Essence, but they had just been born, and the only memories they possessed were of using Gale effectively in combat. The memories he had received from the two Wraiths contained what he was thinking of at the moment, but not enough to give him such an in-depth understanding of the Stormcallers. “So where did it come from?" Aethan mumbled. He studied his surroundings, searching for something—anything—that could help him solve the dilemma. He raised a brow when he caught sight of glowing spots on the groun
Gale
Aethan dealt with three Wraiths swiftly, but let the last two continue to attack him. He allowed them to adapt, giving them the chance to pose a challenge to him. His goal was quite simple; allow them to get strong enough, then use Blood Essence Extraction to extract the Essence within the glass-like pebble acting as their Cores. Aethan wasn't so sure it was going to work. Blood Essence Extraction was called that because it worked on beings with blood—at least that's what his father had said. But as the inheritor of the bloodline, he understood its intricacies better and more intricately than anyone else did. Blood Essence Extraction didn't only work on blood. It worked on anything having Aether and Life Force. That wasn't to say that he could extract Aether from anything using Blood Essence Extraction though.Instead, what it implied was that he could sense the Essence of a being rooted deeply within them and pull at it, th
Wind Wraiths
Aethan's gaze sharpened, his Aether churning vigorously. He retreated calmly, watching as wind began to rush out from the three holes and accumulate before him. In no time flat, three faceless, humanoid creatures formed and began attacking him. Aethan moved immediately, dodging awkward blows coming from the flying creatures. They lacked finesse and cooperation, attacking at every opportunity. Their movements were like that of newborns; decisive, yet stupid—most of the time. They didn't think twice before committing to an attack, not caring if it hindered them in the process. ‘Wraiths,’ Aethan thought, trying to grasp the intricacies of the creatures moving about. They were formed from the holes in the walls… or more likely, from something within the walls. The wind didn't come from within the wall, but had gathered when the wall opened up, affirming his thoughts of it being the work of an object. The object—whatever it was—was, perhaps, what had created the Wraiths and imbued
Dungeon
The wind howled furiously in Aethan's ears as Ignaroth covered large distances with little effort. The light tap of his feets against the ground—despite his large size—was drowned out by the beating of his heart, and harsh winds. Regardless, Aethan's grip on Merek didn't loosen one bit, and the soothing circulation of his Aether around his body calmed his nerves. Aethan's shock only grew when they came to a stop, and Merek claimed that the Infernal Lycan-wannabe wasn't even using a tenth of its speed. Aethan tried to imagine just how fast it was, then, at its top speed, but his mind failed to picture such a thing properly, and it just made him want to get a Totembeast all the more. “The Dungeon is just ahead. I'm sure you can sense it,” Merek claimed, pointing a finger at a warp in reality ahead of them. Aethan's gaze sharpened as his eyes landed on the distorted space in the distance. The feeling he got from the Dungeon gate reminded him of what it felt like to be in the presenc
