Prologue: Part 6
last update2025-10-18 17:12:12

I walked away from school and into the forest, and today is already the third day. My stomach is very hungry because I haven't eaten for three days, the more I enter the forest, the more strange the trees and animals in this forest are.

(Very hungry, strange animals, fruit too).

I thought I would get to the surface, but I never thought I would meet a black Centaur, meaning I was in Death Wood. Death Wood is a dangerous forest filled with dangerous monsters. Death Wood is arguably the most dangerous place in the world. And also, this Death Wood is in the middle of the world of Tara Shabate (Ordinary Humans) with the world of magic.

Long ago, magic discoverers made a pact with the demon king to find this magical world, but before this world was occupied, many monsters from the Death Wood roamed. The witches united to defeat the monsters and succeeded in defeating/expelling them to the Death Wood. After the witches managed to drive away the monsters, the monsters did not stay silent in the Death Wood. Still, many of the monsters came out of the Death Wood. They also affected the world of Tara Shabate (ordinary humans) because Death Wood is the intermediary between the world of Tara Shabate (ordinary humans) with the world of magic.

The reason for Death Wood being an intermediary between the two worlds, possibly for both peoples to know, possibly to let them know how dangerous it is to be in contact with each other and of course, that is just my speculation.

"Who are you?" said the dashing black centaur.

Let me explain again. Centaurs are fairies who look like humans but have horse legs. Centaurs are always in the forest and also live in the forest. If, for example, we meet a black centaur, it means we are in Death Wood because black centaurs can only be found in Death Wood. They were no more different from ordinary centaurs, but the black centaurs were stronger because their prey were powerful monsters that could only be found in the Death Wood. Of course, Death Wood is different from ordinary forests in terms of safety.

"Ah.. I was just passing-"I said.

Then the centaur immediately backed away while pointing his spear at me. His gaze seemed threatened by me. The black centaur said.

"What are you!!!" said the black centaur loudly, pointing the spear he was carrying toward me.

(what's wrong with him?).

Then I answered the black centaur's question by saying.

"Sorry I'm just a wizard passing by" I said pointing my palms towards the black centaur.

After that the black centaur also said.

"Are you just going through it!!? I don't believe what you're saying, monster!!! "he said.

(Monsters!!!?).

"Why are you talking and looking at me like that? Are you talking to someone behind my back?" I said.

Then I looked back, and apparently, no one was behind me. Then I turned back to him while pointing my finger backward and said.

"It's just me, right?" I said, pointing my finger behind me while looking at him.

Then the centaur was suddenly in front of me and immediately intended to attack me with his spear. Still, I immediately responded by hitting his midriff and retreating backward. As I said when I was little, I've had physical training and even persistence until now, so I could avoid his spear attack. But even though I had dodged, my face still got a scratch from his spear.

(Wow, "I don't know why my body feels so mild, Is this because of the stone you found in the lake?. My body has never been this light before).

"aaakkkkhhhh!!!!" I said.

(what the hell!? This hurts so much!! Even though it only looks like it's only scratched a bit!! Could it be deep!!?).

I held my wound with my hand to stop the bleeding on my face, and after that, I asked why he attacked me.

"Why did you even attack me!!!?" I said while covering the wound on my face with my hand.

(It's still hurt).

The centaur also seemed in pain around his midriff while holding the sore spot with one of his hands. Then the Centaur ignored my question and also asked with words.

"What are you really!?" he said.

(What does this centaur mean!!?).

I don't understand this centaur's question. Why does he look like he saw a monster? I answered the question by saying.

"Did I tell you I'm a witch who missed a ride?" I said, still holding my face with my hand to stop the bleeding.

(If he's like this.. )

Then I took a boxing position with both hands and then I made a serious face.

"If you stay like that, I will not remain silent" I said with a severe look.

Then the black centaur got goosebumps while preparing his spear, and I also prepared my fist because I couldn't use magic. We lunged from where we were at each other. I did an uppercut, and the black centaur pointed his spear at my head. But when the attack that he and I did almost hit, suddenly there was a child's voice from not far away said.

"Stop it, brother!!" said a child ???

(Brother?).

Then the two of us stopped the attacks. Where my fist stopped when it was about to hit his chin, and his spear almost pierced my head. The black centaur went straight to the girl and grabbed her shoulder. The black centaur said.

"Lucy, what are you doing here!? This place is dangerous! "said the black centaur.

When I turned towards the voice, I saw a bluish-black child but not black like this centaur. The girl answered the black centaur's question by saying.

"I came because you feel you are doing the wrong thing" said the girl.

"You'd better not leave the village again" said the centaur.

(Village?).

Then I interrupted their conversation by saying.

"Is there a village near here !!?" I said.

(if there is a village, I want to share food…. I'm really hungry because).

Then this kid named 'Lucy' answered my question by saying.

"Yes.. there you go, you'll stay later" said the Lucy, pointing towards the village.

The centaur removed both of his hands and blocked Lucy's view, who was pointing towards the village, and said.

"Don't tell where the village is, Lucy. This person is very dangerous" said the black centaur.

Lucy doubted the statement his brother made by saying.

"What's wrong, brother? Again, you judge someone by only looking at threats from instinct, right!!?" Lucy said.

(Seriously!!? My threat is that high in him face!? Why!?).

Then the black centaur answered his sister's statement by saying.

"Yes, even so, this person is still dangerous... even though he's not evil" said the black centaur.

Then the child answered the statement from his brother by saying.

"If you know he's not evil, why are you attacking him? Stop it!!" Lucy said.

For some reason, the centaur immediately calmed down when the boy said I wasn't a bad person. Then the Centaur said.

"If you say so, fine, HAHAHAHAHA" said the centaur with a happy face.

(What's with this Centaur? Is he a Siscon?).

Siscon is a sister complex which means excess love for younger siblings.

"So what about the village?" I said.

After that, the black centaur introduced himself saying.

"Okay... I'll tell you. Besides, my sister doesn't think you're a bad person, but before that, introduce my name Canavro, and this is my sister Lucy" Canvro said.

(His character changes 180° when she has a younger sibling. Does that mean she's a siscon?).

"I'm Lucy. Nice to meet you" said Lucy.

Then I introduced myself as well by saying.

"I'm Drachoid Oz. Nice to meet Canavro and Luc-" I said.

"Don't mention his name!!" Canavro said.

(no need to be overprotective, right?).

"f-fine" I said.

(So he's really a siscon?).

Then Canavro changed his shape to that of a human with long ears, and the color of his skin changed like that of his younger brother, and the horse's legs suddenly turned into a horse's.

"Wait, why do your legs become real horses!!? You're a centaur, right!!?" I said.

"Don't you know? I'll tell you later when I arrive at the village" said Canavro excitedly.

Then Canavro stroked his horse as he said.

"You fought hard Canavri" said Canavro while stroking his horse.

"Canavri!!! You have no intention of giving a name, do you!!?" I said in a loud voice.

"What are you making so loud about? It's up to me to give you a name!" Canavro said.

"Yeah, there's nothing wrong with giving a cool name like 'The dark horse' like that name, right?" I said.

"Don't Arrange!" Said Canavro.

Then Lucy interrupted my conversation with canavro by saying.

"Until when do you guys want to argue!" said Lucy.

"Sorry..." said me and canavro.

Gia stepped into her private room with graceful yet emphatic movements. At the doorway, Fred stopped. He turned and gave a sharp stare that seemed capable of freezing the blood of anyone who dared to approach."Anyone who crosses this line without my permission will have their status in this church destroyed. The Saint does not want to be disturbed," Fred's baritone voice echoed coldly down the hallway, ensuring that the order could not be disputed. As soon as the thick oak door closed and locked, the atmosphere in the room changed completely. The warmth of the morning in the Basilica was nowhere to be felt here. I took a deep breath, letting the holy aura I wore as a "mask" in public melt away, replacing it with a much stronger aura of authority.I activated The White Fragment of the Philosopher's Stone inside my body. Instantly, pure and cold mana pressure radiated from my chest, enveloping the entire room. In this room, I was no longer just a Vatican Saint; I

  • Chapter 1: Part 70

The first morning sun of 1889 began to slip through the cracks in the velvet curtains, creating golden lines of light on the marble floor. I blinked, feeling my body much lighter after a very deep sleep. When I turned to the side, I found Fred still fast asleep. This was a rare sight; usually he was the first to be up and standing beside my bed in his neat cardinal's robe. But this morning, he looked very different from usual. His face, which usually looked stern and authoritative, now looked calm and relaxed in his sleep.I smiled slightly, then began to tease him. My fingers moved slowly, playing with the tip of his nose, then moving on to caress his slightly rough cheek. Fred groaned softly in his sleep, his head moving slightly to avoid my touch, but he didn't wake up. I laughed softly without a sound and returned to playing with his eyelids, rubbing them gently with my index finger.Slowly, Fred's eyes opened. He blinked several times, trying to gather his

My footsteps echoed on the long, cold marble floor of the Vatican corridor. The heavy outer robe now enveloped my body, making my every movement feel stiff and formal. Fred walked one step behind me, his red cardinal's robe sweeping the floor with a rhythmic swish. As soon as we left the private residence wing, the relaxed atmosphere of the egg tea vanished, replaced by the sharp scent of incense and the tension hanging in the air.The two nuns trailed far behind, while along the corridor, the Guardians stood at attention with their spears, saluting as we passed. I took a deep breath, adjusting my expression. Slowly, the teasing, lazy Gia disappeared, replaced by the majestic, cold, and secretive Saint."Remember, Gia," Fred whispered very low, almost inaudible to anyone but me. "Hold your energy until the last hymn. Don't let them see you tremble."I didn't answer, only gave a small nod that was almost invisible. We entered the inner balcony area that fa

  • Chapter 1: Part 68

Night, Vatican city, 31 December 1888 AD As the year continues, I am currently drinking a famous Asian beverage. People there call it egg tea; they mix tea and eggs and stir them until smooth. Even when mixed with milk, it makes the taste stronger. (Drinking this before the big annual event relaxes me from all the tasks I have been working on.)The annual major event at the Vatican is the Vigil and Te Deum, a sacred ritual in which all the time that has passed is summarized in one grand prayer of thanksgiving.Behind the tall windows of my room, the silhouette of St. Peter's Basilica stood solidly under the dark night sky. The cold December air crept in through the marble cracks, but the warmth of the porcelain cup in my hands was far more powerful. As a Saint, the burden of prayers from thousands of people seemed to weigh heavily on my shoulders tonight. I knew that church officials and important guests had already begun to fill the pews below, awaiting my presence as their interme

"Why are you just silent, Oz?" Claire asked in a calm but emphatic voice. She didn't yell, but gave him a look that demanded honesty. Oz's prolonged silence began to feel unnatural to her, as if an invisible wall had suddenly separated them.Claire folded her arms on the table, maintaining her dignity even though the atmosphere in the inn was getting tense. She realized that every second that passed without an answer would only deepen the doubt between them. To her, Oz's current calmness seemed more like avoidance than just a thought process.(His attitude is very strange. What is he really thinking behind that mask? Did my question touch on something that should have remained hidden?) Claire thought to herself.Meanwhile, Leo, who had been explosive, now showed a drastic change in behavior. He no longer interrupted with curses or anger. Now he just sat stiffly with a blank stare, as if all his energy and emotions had been drained in an instant for no apparent reason.Claire glanced at

Holmes leaned forward until his shadow covered the dull wooden table. He ignored Leo's trembling fist and Claire's scrutinizing stare as she sat stiffly in front of him. The talented detective's focus was entirely on the mysterious figure in the black cloak."So, Oz," Holmes began provocatively. "Let's talk about last night at the Guild. You managed to pull that red fragment out of the receptionist's body, didn't you? Moriarty... a consciousness capable of splitting itself. Now you must be able to sense all of their presence in this city."Oz remained motionless, but behind his mask, he felt the constant pulse of the red energy he had just assimilated. Holmes was right; he was now connected to a vast network of consciousness, but everything felt like a thick fog that was both confusing and suffocating."I can feel their presence," Oz's voice was low and echoing. "But there's a big problem. Thousands of consciousnesses are scattered evenly at the same time. I don't know which one is rea
