Chapter 5

“You should increase your speed now, there are some folks I won’t love to see any longer.” Mark ordered, dismissing the previous question.

His heart sank again into depression, it’s at that moment he knew how painful it was to lose someone you loved dearly.

He could still remember how he came into contact with Hailey, the naive lady who took him under the heavy rain and gave him a room in her father’s apartment although he wasn’t in accordance.

He always asked her to send him out, he believed one day will come when his daughter will tell him she was interested in him. He had to be scared, although looking tattered, Mark was an epitome of beauty. Given that he was well built, he happened to be every woman’s dream.

“Young master, are you okay? I can tell there’s something…”

“Keep up with the ride, forget about me, I’ll be fine.” He mentioned, dismissing any other statement from his right hand man.

They reached the car shop, and as usual, Mark asked him to keep his distance. He didn’t want a situation in which the salesperson was going to conclude he had money.

“Good day lady, I’m searching for a car, something simple, not extravagant and equally affordable.” He saluted the sales lady and gave out the modalities he was after.

“You are lucky Sir, you are in the right place. We have so many simple and affordable cars. These are some of our samples, should in case you need to see more samples, let me know and I’ll gladly accompany you to our store room.” The sales lady said. She was looking so elegant and her voice so charming that Mark enjoyed it when she spoke.

“Oh, then I think you should take me to the store room, I believe you have other colours too?”

“Sure, we have lots of variables, please follow me now.” The lady explained, taking the front lead while Mark gradually followed her steps. He had basically taken his time to admire how the lady walked.

“Here we are, you can make your choice.” The lady uttered firmly, setting aside to give a broad view of the store room.

“I’ll go with this,” He said, pointing to a blue Toyota Corolla.

“Okay, glad you were able to make a choice, let’s go back to the login so we can get the papers signed.” The lady emphasised.

On returning to the login, Mark eyes landed on a black Range Rover sport car that was parked just by the corner. He doesn’t know why the car grabbed his attention, perhaps because it wasn’t there when he arrived.

“Sir, this is the price you’ll be paying for the car. Is it a one time purchase or you’ll pay on semesters?” She asked,

Mark didn’t have the time to respond when a hand suddenly landed on his shoulders. It was frustrating and he needed to address whoever did that rubbish.

Turning his round-shaped head to the other corner, his eyes landed on Dave’s hot gaze. Swallowing hard was the only option he had, this was someone he had surpassed an hour ago, is it that he was stalking him?

“Dude, are you here for a job hunt? I remember offering to employ you as a cleaner in my house, but you turned down my offer and now you are here wanting to do that in public? I see you have no shame!” Dave leashed out,

Mark bulged his fist, taking a deep breath. He knew self-control was the only thing that was going to prevent him from punching his dirty face.

“This shamelessness surely runs in your family line, because I don’t see anyone who is going to reject a nice offer just to come and be a cleaner in a public environment, where it is visited by thousands of people.”

“Excuse me, what’s going on here?” The sales lady held the car documents in her hands, flipping it around before questioning the duo.

Mark’s forehead creased. He didn’t want the lady to be aware of what was going on between him and Dave, that wasn’t even the impression he wanted.

“Oh, don’t bother young lady, I’m just having a few words with your new cleaner.”Dave said boldly.

“You are a beautiful lady, I had no idea that this street harbours such a queen.” He said, surprised by the ladies' beauty, “I’m Dave Woodsward, son of the managing director of all the Blue and Rain hotels across the world, and you?” He straightened his hand for a handshake but the lady hesitated.

Mark stood in the middle of the scene and all he could do was to laugh within him. If only Dave knew that he was standing before his master. His dad was a mere manager in his company!

“Hi, I’m Erica Carpenter.” She said coldly, diverting her attention to Mark so they could continue business.

“Such a nice name for a beautiful damsel like you. Do you live in the area or you’re far from here? ” He voiced out, retaining her attention.

“I don't think that would help, Sir. I’m currently chatting with my client, would you please excuse us so I don’t give him that look of not being professional.” The young Erica requested.

“What client? This right here, is he the one you are calling a client? Common, he isn’t worth your time. Besides, he doesn’t look like someone who has a penny written under his name” Dave openly mocked him.

“Excuse you?” Erica’s brows creased and her adrenaline pumped with pressure,

“Don’t bother, I’m gonna take it from here,” Mark said, intervening between the duo.

“You just heard her, she is discussing with a client who turns out to be me. It’s ain’t professional for an intruder like you to batch into our conversation. Can you get your smokey self out of this place?” With all the boldness he had, he came a little closer, showing off his well-built muscles.

“That’s some cool guts you have there, boy, can you tell me where the hell you got the cash to get yourself a car?”

“And why am I supposed to answer that? It’s none of your business if I decide to get myself a toy, just be man enough and get lost.” Mark voiced out irritably.

The presence of Dave around was eating up their time, and the young girl in question had so much to do after that. She asked him to sign the papers since she had drafted them down already.

It was before Dave that Mark signed a contract, making him the owner of the little blue Toyota Corolla that laid outside.

Initially, he didn’t want any of the Carters or even Dave to be aware of his new toy, but he had to set that out when he noticed the insults kept pumping in.

Dave was curious as he wanted to witness with his eyes. There he had the evidence he needed. Mark was given the keys of the car and also the papers.

“You have got to be kidding, you are going to explain to my future father-in-law where you got the money to buy such a car.” After stating bitterly, Dave took his leave. You could tell how jealous he was when he left.

Mark’s car to his was of no competition, of course his car beat his hands down, but just the fact that he had not seen him owning anything to himself, he had his adrenaline pumping with deep pressure.

“Young master, I guess I won’t be driving you since you got something for yourself, you can always call me when you need me for anything.” Badmun exclaimed, swallowing hard because of what was before him.

“Yeah, I’ll see you soon, have a nice day.” Mark said and then rounded to enter his car, it was quite unfortunate because a group of policemen rounded the area and pointed their firearms at him.

“Mark Gustave, you are under arrest for suspected theft.” The officer said,

“What? Theft?!” He questioned the officer.

“Yeah, theft, you heard the officer right. Follow them and prove you didn’t steal from my company.” Mr. Roger Carter climbed down his car, his face looking very fierce.

“Mr. Carter, I’m not a thief, have never stolen from you before, where is this coming from? I don’t even operate in the financial sector of the hotel. How did I steal?” He asked,

“I don’t care young man, until you are able to provide a proof for this, you will be locked up in jail and I’ll sell the car to refund the hotel’s money.” Roger Carter pointed to the car and spat nervously.

“Wow, this is getting serious,” The young Mark ad
